New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 438: Zaque’s unheard ramblings
CHAPTER 438: ZAQUE’S UNHEARD RAMBLINGS
A scowl settled on Zaque’s face, his lips curled down, eyebrows furrowed, and eyes narrowed into a menacing glare.
Divorce?
The mere thought of Coco divorcing him or any of the husbands seem absurd for his opinion.
He trusts Coco’s judgement on the things she knows, but with her being the only one who has the ability to see the scrolls she talks about, who knows what could be the words written in those that possibly drove those kinds of thoughts in her mind?
She thinks that she needs to divorce them for them to find a new love?
Screw love then! Zaque sneered in his mind, his hold on Coco tightening, but he was quick to snap out of his anger when he felt Coco bury her face on his neck.
She wrapped her arms around Zaque and pulled him close, hugging him tightly.
The action made Zaque trip lightly and shoot his free hand towards the chair so he wouldn’t accidentally hurt her, steadying himself on his spot as Coco continued to nuzzle on him.
Coco practically let her body melt on Zaque’s arms, not caring if she was still in the kitchen with others having their eyes on the two of them.
She’s quite a touchy person, even back in her lovely earth, but ever since she got transmigrated in this world, she barely had time to process that she has not got any kind of physical touch that she craves.
She doesn’t want to touch the husbands because she was afraid that they would flinch.
Jacques and Joachim seemed to be the only ones who didn’t mind giving her hugs nor being touchy with her so she doesn’t push them away, but she also doesn’t actively seek out their embraces.
However, with Zaque being the first person to show her that he was okay with her touches, she couldn’t help, but lean on him.
Her arms tightened around him, her fingers curling against the back of his shirt and pulled him as close as she could, simply burying her face on the crook of his neck and unintentionally inhaling his strangely addicting scent.
Zaque smelled distinctly like roses and it was quite refreshing for her senses.
Though, it was also pushing her to lean her head on him, her eyelids growing a little heavy for her to keep them open, and press all her weight against him.
Why do I feel sleepy all of a sudden..? Coco wondered, blinking the drowsiness away.
"You’re so warm, Zaque.." Coco mumbled, closing her eyes and convincing herself that she just wants her eyes to rest for a moment because they kind of hurt after crying like a baby in front of Quizen.
"Coco?" Came a hushed call from Heiren, his eyebrows furrowing in concern.
Zaque was frozen in his spot and he made no move of pushing Coco off him, but even if he can move freely and think rationally, he still wouldn’t make any move to push the person he had grown feeling for.
The three mediators watched as Coco went slack against Zaque with her tight hold on the back of the mediator’s shirt loosening.
The feeling of Coco going slack against him snapped Zaque out of his trance and he quickly cleared his throat, his hand that was clutching the chair going straight to the back of Coco’s head.
"Listen.." He started, his voice slightly breaking due to how flustered he felt at the moment. "I don’t care if the quest you’re talking about wants you to divorce us."
Alhai and Heiren walked over, both of them looking quite concerned for the woman in Zaque’s arms.
"We would rather have you accept another mediator rather than you divorcing us, okay? We can love that mediator.. Or at least try to love.. Just don’t ever think of actually separating yourself from us." Zaque continued, his fingers threading through her black locks gently.
He could feel Coco’s warm breath against his skin and every breath she took sent a chill down his spine.
Actually, if he tried to focus on the feeling of her body on him, he might as well react like how Alhai reacted when he kissed Coco without thinking, but that would worry her, no?
Not only would it worry her, it would also make her upset and confused..
He doesn’t have the courage to confess to her yet and prefers to be prepared because unlike someone who’s shameless enough to attack her by kissing her and telling them that he doesn’t like her, only for him to confess to their wife two days after, he actually has manners!
"We can work together for that quest of yours, Coco." Zaque mumbled and tightened his hold on her. "But you have to promise that you won’t leave us."
The red haired mediator finally finished with his speech and he took a moment to pause to see if Coco would say something as a rebuttal to the words he had just said, but a minute had passed, then another minute, and another..
Until he was quiet for a whole five minutes in his spot only then he decided to pull away from Coco.
However, Alhai was quick to push him back towards Coco as gently as he could and grip his shoulder with a hint of warning which made the first husband snap his head up to glare at the third husband.
"Didn’t you notice that she fell asleep?" Alhai hissed, his voice quiet and dripping with annoyance.
Zaque’s glare immediately got replaced with a look of realization and worry, his head whipping downwards to take a look at Coco to see if what Alhai said was true.
To his surprise, Coco had indeed fallen asleep.
Zaque blinked, unable to process the fact that Coco leaned on him and fell asleep without making any notice, but it was probably because she felt safe and comfortable in his arms.. Right?
The corner of Zaque’s lips twitched into a smile— small, twisted, and triumphant.
