New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 472: Basement
CHAPTER 472: BASEMENT
Time passed and soon it was time to tidy up the kitchen.
To Coco’s surprise, the goleter was nowhere to be found, having been unceremoniously thrown somewhere inside the house by Zaque when it was time for the other two husbands to get home.
She wasn’t aware of this because her attention focused elsewhere— Zaque gave her a drink to give her an appetite and help her relax.
However, now that dinner is done and nothing is keeping the woman distracted anymore, she grew confused.
"Zaque?" She called, making the first husband to halt his task.
Coco turned to him with a puzzled expression and asked, confusion lacing her voice. "Where’s the little stone monster? Have you put him somewhere? I haven’t seen that little one since you talked to him."
Quizen and Alhai, who had been diligently busy with their kitchen chores, paused and turned their attention to the conversation, the question catching their attention.
Alhai, the more outspoken of the two and the most curious one, chimed in with a perplexed expression.
"Did you say ’little stone monster’, my dear wife?" The teal colored eyes mediator inquired, his voice expressing both curiosity and confusion.
Zaque smiled softly as he addressed the others, particularly Quizen and Alhai, who looked at him in curiosity.
He returned to his task of washing the dishes, unbothered by the situation at hand as he gets to answering the third husband’s question.
"That feisty little ’monster’ is now safely tucked away in the basement." He explained casually, indirectly telling Coco the answer to her own question. "I had already relocated it before you both walked in."
"Where did you tuck it away exactly?" Quizen urged him to elaborate further, helping his wife get the answer she wanted.
"In the basement." Zaque sighed and shot Quizen a look. "Where else should I put a creature who admitted that he was after our wife’s life and intended to eliminate her right in front of my face?"
Coco gasped in surprise, her eyes widening as she processed Zaque’s words.
She wasn’t taken aback at the fact that Zaque was upset with what the goleter said, but she was taken aback by the revelation that they had a basement, something that she had no idea about until now!
"Wait, what?!" She exclaimed, her voice filled with shock. "We have a basement?! And you just nonchalantly dumped that thing down there without telling me?!"
Heiren had been carefully placing the leftovers into the magical freezer, but he paused to address Coco’s surprise.
He turned towards her with a frown, his words carrying a note of mild chastisement because who in their right mind wouldn’t know the layout of their own house?
"Honestly, you walk past that room every time you head downstairs to the first floor bathroom." He informed her, his tone laced with a hint of disbelief. "How have you never noticed the basement door all this time?"
Coco opened and closed her mouth repeatedly, her expression reflecting her disbelief and shock at this revelation.
The others couldn’t help, but chuckle quietly at her reaction, finding her dumbfounded expression rather endearing than annoying.
"Seriously." Heiren responded, his voice dripping with amusement. "How on earth did you not notice it?"
Coco was still somewhat bewildered by the news, but she managed to point her finger urgently towards the door, an expectant expression on her face.
"Alright, show me!" She exclaimed and proceeded to insist. "Where is it? I need to go retrieve my little stone companion right now so I can butter him up!"
Heiren blinked before he nodded obediently and began leading her towards the basement.
"Follow me." He said, motioning for Coco to follow which caused Coco to stand up from her chair to stumble and rush towards Heiren who walked out of the kitchen.
He gestured towards the basement door. "It’s right over here."
Coco’s eyes darted towards the area Heiren gestured, only for her eyebrows to furrow in confusion at what she saw before her.
"But.. There’s nothing there." She protested, her gaze locked on the plain, solid wall under the staircase.
The other mediators piled outside the kitchen and exchanged amused glances, knowing that the entrance to the basement was hidden from view.
Heiren sighed and couldn’t help, but chuckle quietly, aware that the entrance was not visible to her eyes.
"Trust me." He reassured her, "You just can’t see it, but it’s right in front of you."
Coco still felt unconvinced, but she took a hesitant step closer to the wall, her frown deepening as her eyes scrutinized the seemingly ordinary surface.
She turned to Heiren and repeated her words, her voice tinged with a mix of doubt and annoyance— maybe a little frustration, too. "Seriously, there’s nothing here at all. You’re kidding, right?"
They found her confusion somewhat entertaining, but they suppressed their laughter, not wanting to reveal the hidden entrance yet.
Heiren, however, remained calm and composed. "I assure you, the basement door is right there."
Quizen felt bad so he merely chuckled as he stepped closer to Coco, placing a hand on her hip with his other hand pressed against the seemingly ordinary wall in front of her.
A soft sound was heard as he pushed the wall, revealing a set of wooden stairs leading downwards.
Coco’s eyes widened as the unexpected sight before her, her confusion turning into surprise and embarrassment as she realized she had overlooked the concealed entrance all along.
Quizen chuckled again, his tone brimming with amusement. "Well, there you go."
Don’t horror movies start with houses that were abandoned.. Which later on was revealed in the movie that the house has a basement that was filled with spider webs and old things stored inside?
Coco’s face went pale, her eyes widening in disbelief as the realization sank in and her mouth hung open as she stuttered. "We have a basement?!"
Coco’s voice was laced with panic and a touch of fear as she continued. "Does this mean we have haunted things down there?!"
