New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 507: Bloody mess
CHAPTER 507: BLOODY MESS
Without giving the man a chance to utter another word, Coco reeled back her arm and unleashed a powerful punch, her fist connecting with his face with a sickening thud, again and again.
In each punch, the man’s face twisted in pain until soon, his face began to bleed, his flesh swelling and bruising beneath each impact of her fist.
Coco’s expression was fierce, her eyes cold and focused, and she didn’t hold back, her strength and precision delivering devastating blows again and again, without any hint of mercy.
Coco’s entire attention was focused on the man in front of her, her fury driving her to mercilessly assault him.
She was so focused that she didn’t realize that other hunters had already gathered around her, their eyes wide with shock and horror at her brutal attacks.
She didn’t hear their protests nor see their worried expressions, her entire focus solely on the man who had dared to touch Heiren.
It wasn’t until a hand grabbed her shoulder, startling her out of her frenzy that she realized others had encircled her, watching the gruesome scene in shock and disbelief.
The sudden interruption snapped her out of her frenzy, her eyes wide and wild, but she looked down on the man— still seeing red and just as she was about to swing again, a familiar voice rang out that ceased her attack.
"Coco! Stop! That’s enough!"
The sound of Heiren’s voice was like a splash of cold water on her body, bringing her back to reality.
Coco froze with her hand still raised, her breaths ragged and heavy while blinking owlishly with her rage slowly dissipating as she stared down at the bloodied man before her.
He was nearly unrecognizable, his face a mess of swelling and bruises, his features barely visible.
Coco’s eyes widened as her gaze shifted from his face to her own fist which was now covered in blood.
She hadn’t even realized that her knuckles had split, the pain barely registering.
"Coco.."
She heard someone mumble weakly, causing her head to snap up and dart her attention on the person who uttered her name.
As her attention snapped up, Coco’s eyes found Heiren’s which made the surprise clear in her widened gaze and parted lips— she felt both bewildered and confused, the bloodied scene around them suddenly not her concern.
At that moment, the only thing she could focus on was the look on Heiren’s face.
Coco’s grip loosened on the man’s hair, causing the man to crumple to the floor in a heap before she looked down at her bloodied knuckles, a frown forming on her face.
"I’m sorry.." She murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "I.. I.. I didn’t know wha.. I mean, I was just.. I guess, I was just so angry.."
She couldn’t find the words to properly voice out her feelings, her emotions swirling fiercely inside her so all she could do was stand there, hands trembling and eyes wide, looking at Heiren with anxiety coursing through her veins.
"She didn’t stop.."
"Look at him, man.. He’s beaten to pulp.."
"Well, he did deserve it, didn’t he?"
"What? No one deserves to be beaten like they mean nothing!"
"She’s.. She’s a monster."
The murmurs of the hunters around her began to rise, making Coco’s heart sink.
"Monster? What she did is normal."
"How is that normal, you fool? Can’t you see how beat up the man looks now?"
"He deserved it."
The murmurs were torn in two.
One side was protecting her and agreeing that what she did was right, but the other side called her a monster.
In all honesty, she didn’t mean to be so violent, to let her anger get the best of her like that.. But the sight of that man touching Heiren had set something off inside her.
It was an ugly feeling
.. Coco thought, her teeth catching her bottom lip.
Now, she could only listen to the whispers and hisses from the other hunters, causing a pang of guilt and shame to gnaw at her conscience.
Heiren gently reached out and took Coco’s hands in his own, his touch firm yet tender.
Coco felt the slight trembling in his fingers, his body showing her both fear and concern, but she didn’t know the exact cause of his shaking, though she could feel the worry and care in his touch.
His gaze remained locked on hers, his eyes filled with different emotions.
He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out at first, like he was struggling to find the right ones to say.
"What happened here?!"
Coco and Heiren both looked up as the guildmaster’s voice echoed through the lobby, originating from the direction from which Coco had come.
The authoritative tone immediately demanded attention which made the hunters nearby settle down, their eyes shifting to the guildmaster.
Mr. Covez stood there, his eyes flickering from the unconscious, bloodied man on the floor to the frozen Coco and a glaring Heiren standing before him.
Mr. Covez’s frown deepened as his gaze swept across the lobby, taking in the scene before him.
The unconscious man on the floor and Coco and Heiren standing nearby who obviously looked rattled, made it clear what had happened.
"Looks like these knuckleheads finally messed with the wrong person. " He remarked, his voice carrying a stern, no-nonsense tone. "But this.. This seems like it became.."
He paused, his eyes lingering on the man laying in his own pool of blood before fixing back on Coco.
Mr. Covez’s stern expression softened slightly when he caught sight of Coco’s blown wide irises that shook with anxiety.
He nodded his head in acknowledgement, his voice a little softer compared to earlier. "Thank you for handling the situation, Mrs. Hughes. I’ll take it from here."
"Those who witnessed what happened will be called to the office." He announced to the other hunters.
Then, he looked at Heiren. "Go home and take care of Coco.. She seems like she’s taking it harder than you."
