No Memory, No Mercy 35
Chapter b35 /b
Had I really sald that before?
Though knew it was my deep infatuation with bJonathan /bthat led to this situation, hearing him repeat the sweet words once said still made me feel bembarrassed/b.
I cleaned my throat and calmly said, “That was then, this is now. When i see you bnow/b, I don’t feel happy. Is that a problem?”
Jonathan bdidn’t /bspeak but continued to look at me intensely.
His silent intensity carried an immense pressure, as it just looking at me could force me to surrender. I clenched my fists, forcing myself to maintain eye contact and not backdown
Gabrielle’s voice broke the tension. She had noticed 1 didn’t follow her into the room and hade back to check on me.
Only then did Jonathan release my arm. He shot Gabrielle ba /bbdark /blook before tuming and leaving abruptly.
He lett so abruptly that i didn’t even have time to react before Gabrielle was already by my side.
“Elise, you scared me just now,” Gabrielle said.
she patted her chest and grabbed my bhand/b. “The way Jonathan looked at me.. It was like he wanted to all me.”
1 raised an eyebrow. “You’re exaggerating,”
Jonathan certainly bhad /bba /bcertain dislike for Gabrielle, but it wasn’t to the point of anything that extreme.
Gabrielle shook her head. “You’ve forgotten, so you don’t know how much we’ve been at bodds/bb./b”
Teoriously asked, “What exactly happened between you two? Why is your rtionship sa tense?”
Was it really just because of me that they became rivals?
cubrielle hesitated, avoiding my gaze. “Forget it, it’s not worth remembering All you need to know is, Jonathan and I definitely kept our distance from each other.
H
I nodded, but my mind was full of questions.
1knew I had a falling out with Gabrielle because of Jonathan, but I had no bidea /bwhy it happened. Gabrielle didn’t want to go into details. She simply said it was because of my “love–struck” nature.
However, I trusted her. If she didn’t want to shareb, /bthere had to be a reason
“Jonathan said I could stay here with you for a while,” Gabrielle addedb, /bchanging the subject bas /bwe entered the room.
She sat on the sofa and sighed. “I never expected Jonathan to actually let us meet like this.”
I was just as confused. “Our rtionship isn’t great, so bwhy /bwould he care? Why would he try to limit who I befriend? Especially since you’re my female friend- there’s no way you could be ba /bthreat…”
Gabrielle sighed again. “Actually, you two.
She suddenly stopped herself. “Forget IL It doesn’t matter. You’ve forgottenb, /bband /bremembering would only bring more trouble.”
Trodded. The fact that I had forgotten the painful memories made me realize that it was for the best.
I decided not to press further and suddenly remembered something. b“/bDo you have any updates from Frederick?”
I didn’t haves contact information, so I had to rely on Gabrielle to keep me informed. I had intended to thank him properlyst time, but it ended poorly.
Gabricile shook her lead. “He bsaid /bif you really want to thank him, you need to show some sincerity.
I frowned. “What does bhe /bmean by sincerity?”
After all, he had saved my life, so it wasn’t sonable for him to ask for something in retur
Gabrielle answered, “He dido” say rything specific, but he’s really into wine. If you have any good whise, he’d be bhappy /bto ept it.”
I thought for a moment. “Alright, I’ll find some tine wine and you can deliver to him for me.”
Gabrielle nodded in agreement.
just then, a deep voice ecided from the doorway.
“Who are you bringing things to?”
Jonathan walked intothe room, giving bus /ba dark look
