CHAPTER 215: CHAPTER 213: YOU DID IT ON PURPOSE [3RD UPDATE]
"I’m waiting for you," Liam Spencer said, starting to cause trouble again.
Maya Spencer took a deep breath, ignored his presence, and continued listening to the call.
"Maya, are you there? Did you fall asleep again?" Ella Turner’s voice came through from the other end of the line.
"No! No! The signal was just a bit bad earlier." As soon as Maya finished speaking, someone entered her body.
Immediately, she felt her face turn green with anger, yet she acted as if nothing was wrong, calmly chatting with Ella Turner over the phone.
Ella said, "My brother came back last night; let’s get together this evening."
"Great! I haven’t seen Ethan Turner in a long time."
As soon as Maya mentioned Ethan Turner’s name, someone got jealous and started moving quickly.
Maya took a deep breath and almost cried out, but managed to hold it in at the crucial moment.
After a few more words of idle chat, they hung up the phone.
Once the call ended, Maya took a deep breath, tossed the phone aside, and flipped over to sit on top of Liam Spencer, cursing, "You bastard! You did that on purpose."
After that, she couldn’t even focus on scolding him,
This little tussle caused Liam to miss the meeting time again.
In the meeting room, Xavier Graham looked at the clock on the wall, his face dark with displeasure.
Lucas Shaw shook his head, sighing, "Such a trouble caused by beauties!"
Christopher Scott was filled with envy and jealousy, thinking about his Seven. When will she return?
Finally, after an hour and a half, Liam Spencer appeared in front of everyone as if nothing had happened, conducting the meeting like it was no big deal.
After the meeting, Liam skipped lunch and went to the construction site with Xavier Graham.
Meanwhile, at the villa, Maya was sitting at the desk, restlessly trying to read.
Ella said Ethan Turner was back. That means Lillian Morris is back too.
Thinking of Lillian Morris, Maya’s breath almost stopped. That year, she left a note and just walked away. Now remembering him, she feels quite embarrassed and doesn’t know how to face him.
However, now, she is the Spencer Family’s soon-to-be recognized granddaughter-in-law, and Lillian Morris is Liam’s brother-in-law. This connection makes it impossible for her to avoid him; eventually, she must meet him.
She took a deep breath and threw the book onto the desk, raising her right hand to rub her forehead, indicating a headache.
Unexpectedly, when she went to the bar with Ella Turner to find Ethan Turner, Lillian Morris was there too.
She thought they would meet at the engagement party, not tonight.
The two men sat side by side at the bar. Lillian Morris’s gaze kept falling on Maya as she blushed and looked down, not daring to look at him.
Then Ethan Turner spoke first, somewhat embarrassed, "Maya, sorry, I was with clients and couldn’t join you for dinner."
"No big deal!" Maya waved it off, but her eyes kept stealing looks at Lillian Morris.
At the bar, Lillian Morris squinted slightly, his sharp gaze fixed on Maya, as if waiting for her to give him an explanation.
Three years ago, she lived in his apartment and vanished without a word. Didn’t she know he would worry? Would feel guilty?
Next to them, Ethan noticed the heavy atmosphere and quickly introduced them, "Ella, Maya, this is my boss, Lillian Morris. Maya should know him!"
Hearing Ethan’s introduction, Maya took a deep breath, smiled at Lillian Morris, and greeted, "Brother Morris."
Lillian listened to the familiar voice of the young woman, took a deep breath, regained his calm smile, and said, "Maya, long time no see!"
"Long time no see!" Maya replied with a smile.
"When you left without a word, I thought you wouldn’t come back to S City." Lillian’s words seemed to carry a hidden meaning.
Maya’s sudden return surprised him, but what surprised him more was her engagement to Liam Spencer.
Lillian remembered clearly how much Maya disliked Liam Spencer.
To be accurate, she hated him.
"Back then, I was too reckless. I hope Brother Morris can forgive me," Maya explained cautiously. She had a lot of respect for Lillian.
"As long as you’re happy," Lillian said, smiling continuously, though his smile seemed somewhat distant, not as doting as it once was.
Maya looked at Lillian’s indifferent smile and let out a long sigh.
She couldn’t find an excuse!
Back then, she left without a word. Even though Lillian helped her, she never fully trusted him.
Actually, it wasn’t that Maya didn’t trust Lillian, but rather she couldn’t rely on him too much!
After all, that man was Sister Jane Spencer’s man.
So, she sneaked away quietly.
To lighten the mood, Ella started talking with Maya about school stuff and how Ethan joined the Morris Clan Group.
However, Lillian just sat there listening to them chat, occasionally glancing at Maya.
He knew what she was back for this time but also knew she would only get deeper into it.
This interaction continued until Jane Spencer called, at which point he smiled, bid everyone farewell, and left early.
After Lillian left, Ella patted her chest, letting out a long breath, and said, "Bro, your aura was so intense that I could barely breathe."
"President Morris is quite approachable and loves to laugh," Ethan had an especially good impression of Lillian.
Next to them, as Maya listened to the siblings talk about Lillian, she couldn’t help but recall their first meeting.
She still remembers hitting his car with her shoe on a flyover, and then he took her along and even bought her shoes.
She also remembers, during the most desperate times in her life when she had given up on living, he appeared.
The more Maya thought about these things, the more she felt she couldn’t face Lillian.
Back then, he advised her to marry Liam. She swore she wouldn’t marry him even if she were single forever.
Three years later, she’s involved with him again, even though it’s just an act; she still feels awkward.
"Maya, what’s wrong? You don’t look well," Ella said in excitement, finally noticing that Maya was spaced out.
"It’s nothing! Just feeling a bit stifled."
"How about we find a quiet place to sit?" Ethan suggested.
Just as they were leaving the bar, there was a sudden commotion.
The three of them simultaneously looked at the source of the commotion, seeing a group of men bunched together, seemingly fighting.
Ella grabbed Maya’s arm, swallowing nervously, and said, "Bars are really scary places!"
"Maya, it looks like Young Master Reid over there," Ethan, being tall, quickly noticed that the man surrounded was Henry Reid.
Upon hearing it was Henry Reid, Maya furrowed her eyebrows, took a deep breath, and stood on her tiptoes to look into the crowd.
She saw a man in a suit grabbing Henry Reid by the collar, angrily saying, "Henry Reid, how dare you mess with my girlfriend? If I don’t take you down today, I’ll change my surname from Nelson."
"Young Master Nelson, calm down, Henry Reid is, after all, Asher Norton’s cousin," someone beside him leaned in to remind him.
