The man talked persuasively, leaving Maya with no room to argue, but she had to take Henry Reid away, and she immediately saw that this man was no benevolent figure.

Though he said it, he understood well that Maya didn’t intend to be a saint. She never had the heart of a saint; she just wanted him to be a bit sober, stop indulging himself.

All the kindness she showed him before, she remembered, she still held him in her heart. She couldn’t bear to see him continue to decline, so she humbled herself to wake him up.

When Henry reached out to pull Maya again, Enzo Nelson signaled his underlings, and they held Henry back.

In the sizable bar were people gathered around Maya.

Watching her drink one cup after another, Enzo suddenly felt a hint of respect, as well as pity towards her.

He resented her, resented why couldn’t she accept him? He resented her appearing in front of him? Resented her making him feel heartache?

Today, he intended to cause trouble, indulging his repressed feelings, hence he stubbornly refused to apologize.

Yet seeing Maya like this, he couldn’t hold on; seeing her kneeling upright in front of the table, drinking the wine like water, he was in so much pain he couldn’t breathe.

At this point, Maya couldn’t hold on any longer, her stomach churning and burning fiercely, her vision starting to blur, but she continued to endure.

She had to keep going until Henry compromised, until he no longer acted recklessly.

She then picked up another glass of wine, closed her eyes tightly, raised her head, and drank it all in one go.

Seeing her struggle, Henry couldn’t bear it any longer, with a thud he kneeled before Enzo Nelson and said, "I apologize!"

Listening to Henry’s voice, the weight lifted off Maya’s heart, and she sat down clutching her stomach, bowed her head, and didn’t move an inch.
