CHAPTER 222: CHAPTER 220: DISDAIN [5 UPDATES]
Elia listened to the voice and suddenly jumped out of bed, turning to look behind her.
She saw a girl holding a phone recording her, with a slightly older woman standing behind the girl.
Instantly, Elia’s face turned pale with fear; she knitted her brows and asked, "Noah, why are you back?"
The girl listened to Elia’s question and laughed indifferently, saying: "Liam is getting married; how could I not come back? Continue on! Liam is on his way, at least let him see the real action! Anyway, you’ve already offended people."
"Noah, quickly put the phone down; nobody is joking with you."
"Joking? I think you’re joking! I’m really broadcasting to show your third brother," the girl said as she flipped the phone to show Elia.
In an instant, Elia’s face turned pale with anger. She had always been afraid of Noah since childhood, always dominated by her.
However, the two had never faced off directly before, never expected Noah to start clashing with her as soon as she returned.
Elia took a deep breath, frowned, and interrogated, "Noah, what do you mean?"
"I mean to let Liam see how you bully her daughter-in-law."
On the sickbed, Maya was dumbfounded! About Noah, she had heard while she was at the Spencer Family.
Noah is the daughter of Liam and Jane Spencer’s aunt and was born in the same year, month, and day as Liam.
Maya glanced at Noah then looked at the beautiful woman behind her.
Observing the resemblance between the two women, it seemed to be Liam’s aunt, Charlotte Owen.
She had heard for a long time that Charlotte Owen was a single mother and never married, even her daughter borrows her surname. Yet the two had always stayed abroad, suddenly returning, appearing in her ward.
"Charlotte, why are you back?" Hannah asked, looking at the woman three years older than her, but appearing ten years younger.
"My nephew’s engagement, should I not come back?"
"No, I didn’t mean that," Hannah hastily explained.
On the bed, Maya looked at the mother and daughter as if they were rats, totally speechless; did they dare bully her?
"Elia, are you still not leaving, waiting for Liam to return and peel your skin?" Noah said indifferently, noticing the pale look on the girl’s face.
Seeing this, Elia grabbed Hannah and left first, leaving the room with only the other mother and daughter and Maya.
What left Maya speechless was that she met the Owen mother and daughter for the first time in such a miserable state.
She still remembered, the first time she met Kinsley, she was scolded fiercely by Hannah.
The first time she met Liam, she was whipping.
Even the first time she met Henry, she was also being scolded.
Alright! She admitted, as long as she was in City S, she was always miserable.
Seeing the mother and daughter approaching her sickbed, she smiled and first called out "Auntie."
Then she called, "Noah!"
The girl glanced at Maya on the sickbed, gave her a light "hmm" in response.
However, Charlotte did not acknowledge her, instead scanning her from head to toe several times.
From Charlotte’s eyes, Maya could tell she didn’t like her.
Her gaze now was like a mother inspecting a future daughter-in-law, yet completely unsatisfactory.
No wonder, Liam never had a mother since childhood, and Charlotte naturally took on the mother-in-law role.
Upon seeing Charlotte’s weird gaze, she took a breath, nonchalantly turned on the TV, ignoring her presence.
Thinking, if you don’t fancy me, just don’t fancy me! Anyway, she and Liam were just acting.
Once called her and she didn’t give any response, she’d ignore her in the future. Show off, who couldn’t?
In the ward, the mother and daughter assessed Maya and then left.
Came empty-handed, left empty-handed! Acting nothing like visiting a patient.
As the room door closed, Maya couldn’t help but mutter in exasperation, "Another oddball."
Soon after, Liam returned, bringing Maya her favorite tofu pudding and candies.
Seeing Liam’s calm demeanor, Maya guessed Noah was just trying to scare Elia earlier she hadn’t broadcast a video to Liam. She became even more puzzled about the Owen mother and daughter.
"Feeling better?" Liam cautiously placed the tofu pudding in front of her, inquiring.
Maya took the tofu pudding, took a deep breath, and calmly said: "Your aunt and Noah came earlier."
Maya didn’t mention Hannah and Elia leaving nor complained about Elia slapping her. To Maya, these two were not even significant.
By the bed, upon hearing the girl’s report, Liam’s heart skipped a beat, his expression slightly changed. But he quickly recovered.
He asked, "Did Aunt say anything to you?"
"She didn’t speak to me. I called her, she ignored," Maya drank the tofu pudding, responding indifferently.
"Auntie is like that, doesn’t like talking to people," Liam explained.
Liam didn’t disclose to Maya that actually Charlotte had been back for a few days, and they had a big argument at his office two days ago.
Charlotte opposed Liam being with Maya. She said Maya’s presence around Liam was too purposeful, purely for the Hanson Clan Group, unable to accept her nephew being with such a woman.
Of course, Liam wasn’t persuaded by her.
However, Charlotte just left, stating he would regret it before walking away, and in the following two days, they had no contact. Yet unexpectedly, she visited Maya in the hospital.
Listening to Liam’s characterization of Charlotte, Maya nodded, saying, "Yeah! You’re quite similar to her."
Liam didn’t respond but took over the tofu pudding from her, feeding her. At this point, he suddenly noticed Maya’s face had a few fingerprints.
He immediately put down the tofu pudding, touched her face, and asked, "What’s this about?"
Earlier, Henry visited her ward, Charlotte and Noah were here too, could it be Charlotte hit her?
Seeing the man’s anxious look, Maya immediately confessed, "Elia was here, we got into a fight."
"That Elia, reckless courage," Liam was about to cry over Elia’s stupidity hearing she’d hit Maya.
"You don’t have to worry, I can deal with her."
She then intended to explain the previous night’s incident to Liam but was interrupted as Liam said, "No need, I trust you."
"Ah oh..." Maya half-squinted at Liam, felt it was odd.
But soon, she no longer doubted it, after all, they were just acting, no need for many explanations.
Yet, she suddenly felt a bit desolate.
Liam noticed her slight change of expression, lifted both hands gently holding her face, and seriously discussed: "I’ll set the engagement banquet for next Saturday evening, alright?"
Seeing the man’s earnest demeanor, Maya felt somewhat embarrassed.
Note: Getting engaged tomorrow~~
