Chapter 242 - 240: Don’t Test My Limits
CHAPTER 242: CHAPTER 240: DON’T TEST MY LIMITS
In the living room, Liam Spencer watched the girl’s reaction, immediately got up from the sofa, and went after her.
Maya Spencer fled, not even changing her shoes, desperately pressing the elevator button when she reached the entrance.
Now, she only regretted not living in an ordinary neighborhood with a stairwell for escape.
Before the elevator arrived, she tightly gripped the door handle to prevent Liam Spencer from opening it, but the difference in strength between them was too great, and Liam quickly pulled the door open.
Maya saw this and was so scared that her legs shook.
She remembered the man’s attitude at the villa clearly; if he caught her, she’d probably lose half her life.
As the door opened, the elevator door did too, and Maya ran inside without looking back.
Unfortunately, her slender waist was caught by someone.
When Liam Spencer grabbed her, he wrapped his arms around her and carried her back into the house without a word, followed by the sound of a door slamming shut.
At this moment, Maya regretted not inviting Kinsley Spencer upstairs for a visit.
Liam carried her into the house and threw her onto the sofa, gripping her chin with his right hand, angrily asking, "Why are you running away? Aren’t you quite capable? Wasn’t it you who drove into me?"
Even though several days had passed since she had driven into him, Liam’s heart had yet to find peace.
He admitted that he indeed missed the engagement party, embarrassing her, but was his life really less important than her pride?
Liam didn’t know that Maya already knew about Grace, and the misunderstanding was quite deep.
Listening to his questioning, Maya swallowed and her eyes turned red instantly. She said, "I really regret stepping on that brake."
Hearing her venomous words, the man was furious to the extreme, his large hand on her chin immediately moving to her neck.
He said, "Maya Spencer, do you believe I’ll take your life right now?"
Hearing his threat, Maya thought of his bullying, of facing the reporters alone, of him always seeing her as a dead woman, and tears streamed from her eyes.
She originally didn’t want to cry in front of Liam, but too much had built up inside, oppressing her to the extreme.
Seeing Liam’s furious face, she felt extremely wronged for a moment.
Liam looked at the tears on her face and sneered, "Scared now? Is there anything Maya Spencer is afraid of?"
As he spoke, he squeezed her neck with increasing force, and Maya’s face turned red, unable to speak normally.
She raised her head and tightly grabbed his wrist, trying to pull him away, but he only gripped her tighter.
Maya could almost feel her neck being broken.
Seeing her red face and her extremely aggrieved expression, the man released her.
Then, he quickly grabbed her collar, pulling her up from the sofa, crouching in front of her, his large hand gently holding her neck, commanding, "Tomorrow, cancel the marriage with Kinsley Spencer."
Listening to his words, Maya held her breath, swallowed, then took a deep breath and said through gritted teeth, "Whom I marry is my own freedom."
"Maya Spencer, I’ve given you fair warning. Don’t test my limits."
"Who are you to me? Why should I listen to you?" Indeed, they had no connection anymore; he had already abandoned her days ago, and not even a cooperative relationship remained between them.
Liam knew she hated him, hated him for making her embarrassed. He tried to suppress his anger, humbly asking for reconciliation.
He asked, "What do you want, so you won’t cause trouble?"
In the past, Maya was the one who asked him this way. After three years, their positions were finally reversed.
"Why can you cause trouble, but I can’t?" Maya responded sharply, actually angrier that he always used her as a punching bag, and at that moment he saw her as Grace, being nice to her.
She didn’t need it; she was Maya Spencer, not a replacement for anyone.
"Maya Spencer, you think pulling in Kinsley Spencer and Lillian Morris can compete with Owen Clan Group? You think you can help Kinsley rise with your capabilities? You’re dreaming." Liam knew Maya’s little tricks all too well.
Even knowing she and Kinsley were putting on a show, he refused to accept it because he feared the act might become real, feared Maya would end up sleeping next to another man.
"Who wins, who loses, isn’t certain yet." Liam was always so domineering, it made Maya dislike him, wanting just to oppose him.
The more he acted almighty, high above, the more Maya wanted him to taste the bitterness of falling; nothing in life is guaranteed.
However, she didn’t know that Liam wasn’t always successful; he had already fallen in front of her.
"Maya Spencer, don’t blame me for not giving you a chance. Don’t cry to me later," the man said, removing his big hand from her neck.
"I’ll never beg you." Maya’s temper was just as fierce.
This time she returned, never considering asking anything of him.
Liam watched the girl’s spirit, suddenly standing straight, left hand on his hip, right hand pointing at her, saying, "Maya Spencer, when you come to plead with me, things won’t be simple."
Having said that, the man walked around the sofa without looking back, telling himself he had given Maya a chance and needn’t be polite from now on.
In the elevator, he thought about the girl’s fierce eyes, feeling unbearable distress, taking a harsh deep breath, but still unable to calm his mood.
Then, he quickly dialed Elijah Reed’s number, instructing, "Have the meeting at nine tomorrow morning, notify Xavier Graham, Lucas Shaw."
On the other end, hearing Liam’s orders, Elijah Reed was scared silly because he could tell the BOSS was about to explode.
Thus, he immediately nodded and said, "Okay, BOSS."
In the following days, Maya and Lillian Morris also began to take action, as Maya mentioned shares and positions to her uncle.
In the office, Aron Hanson looked at Maya’s proposal and plan, frowning deeply, asking doubtfully, "Did you make these?"
"Yes!" Maya nodded, not revealing Lillian Morris because she had promised Lillian.
Aron Hanson watched the girl’s sharp eyes, took a deep breath, suddenly changed his sitting posture, rested his elbows on the desk, tightly intertwined his fingers, thinking for a moment, then said, "Maya, you first follow Vice Chairman Parker to learn, you can participate in any project at the company I think your work plan just presented is very good, I’ll arrange it, with various projects being supervised by you. As for the shares, I’ll urge the legal department to handle them; how do you think this arrangement works?"
"Yes!" Faced with the authority given by her uncle, Maya couldn’t deny; indeed, her uncle trusted her greatly.
Regarding shares, she wasn’t pushing too hard, so she agreed.
A week later at Owen Clan Group, when Liam Spencer listened to Elijah Reed’s report, he was instantly furious.
Grabbing the documents on the desk, he threw them on the ground, angrily demanding, "Get Lucas Shaw over here immediately."
