CHAPTER 353: CHAPTER 351 - DO YOU BELIEVE ME [1ST UPDATE]

Maya Spencer rushed out in the morning, didn’t have breakfast, and didn’t report to Liam Spencer, so she pulled her phone out of her purse, ready to make a call.

In the driver’s seat, Ella Turner saw Maya reach for her phone and quickly asked, "Maya, who are you calling?"

"Liam. I left without telling him."

Hearing that Maya was going to call Liam, Ella quickly snatched her phone away and angrily said, "Why call him? Don’t tell him anything."

From Ella’s attitude, Maya could tell she particularly hated Liam, hating him on her behalf.

This made Maya feel awkward. She bit her lower lip and cautiously explained, "Ella, things between Liam and me have been pretty good lately. He’s been very nice to me, and things will only get better."

Maya was sure that as long as Liam didn’t mind the bookmark incident and as long as she kept a distance from Lillian Morris, she basically wouldn’t upset him anymore, and they’d have no conflicts.

But Ella didn’t believe Maya’s explanation and angrily insisted, "Maya, don’t comfort me or speak for him. I used to think he was a good guy, but now I realize he’s the worst I’ve seen. Even being with Henry Reid is better than being with him."

Listening to Ella’s criticism of Liam, Maya felt like crying without tears. If she hadn’t vented about Liam in front of Ella, she probably wouldn’t dislike him so much. However, Liam’s previous mistreatment of her wasn’t untrue either.

She bit her lower lip, looked at Ella for a while, and awkwardly said, "Ella, I shouldn’t have told you these things, making you upset. At least everything’s getting better now. As for the past, I acknowledge my incompetence, but in the future, I’ll protect myself. Trust me."

After spending these days together, Maya had mostly figured Liam out, so she felt confident in saying this, hoping Ella wouldn’t get involved or be affected.

"Maya, you’re so silly. I know what you’re worried about, but from now on, don’t be!"

"Ella, what do you mean by that?" Maya could hear the hidden meaning in Ella’s words.

"No meaning. You’ll find out soon."

Seeing that Ella wouldn’t give her more information, Maya didn’t bother asking. She figured she’d know once they reached the destination.

So, she simply closed her eyes and laid back in the car to take a nap. She had been up too late last night with Liam and was woken up by a call this morning. She hadn’t slept enough, so now was a good time to catch up on sleep.

Thirty minutes later, Ella arrived at their destination and nudged Maya, reminding her, "Maya, we’re here. Get out of the car."

Maya was sleeping deeply. Ella called her several times with no response until she shouted near her ear, causing Maya to wake up suddenly, rubbing her eyes and asking, "Where are we?"

"The airport! Hurry, get out." Ella said as she helped unbuckle her seatbelt.

"The airport? Ella, are you leaving, or is your brother leaving?" Maya was confused.

"Maya, why ask so much? You’ll see when we get there." Ella said, pulling Maya out of the car and heading to the waiting area.

When they hurriedly arrived at the departure hall, Maya saw Lillian Morris standing in front of her.

For a moment, Maya was stunned, thinking, what’s going on here?

So, she forced a smile at Lillian and asked, "Brother Morris, are you leaving?"

Beside her, Ella burst out, extending her right hand and pushing Maya into Lillian’s arms, sighing helplessly and reluctantly saying, "Maya, go with President Morris!"

Listening to Ella, Maya immediately pushed Lillian away, furrowing her brows, and earnestly said, "Liam will go crazy. I’m not joking; I’m going back."

After saying this, Maya headed for the exit. She couldn’t possibly leave with Lillian.

If she left with Lillian, Liam would certainly go mad, and if he went mad, what about the Morris Clan Group? What about her uncle?

Maya didn’t realize that when she knew Lillian wanted to take her away, her first reaction wasn’t concern for Lillian or her uncle but worry for Liam, with her mind imagining his furious bloodshot eyes and tear-filled ones.

She had seen Liam cry, so she unintentionally imagined earlier that if she left, Liam would definitely be upset to tears, so she immediately pushed Lillian away.

Her second thought was for Lillian and her uncle, so she couldn’t leave.

In the waiting hall, Lillian, seeing the girl’s reaction, immediately chased after her, grabbing her wrist, saying, "Maya, you don’t need to be afraid of Liam."

Lillian assumed Maya’s reaction to pushing him away was a reflexive fear of Liam. Seeing her like this made him feel very uncomfortable.

"I am not afraid of Liam. He doesn’t need me to fear him. Brother Morris, stop this." Maya was almost frantic, not knowing how to explain.

Her explanation, of course, Lillian wouldn’t believe. He looked into Maya’s eyes, angry and heartbroken, saying, "Your fear of him has already become habitual."

Lillian had prepared everything before daring to take Maya away, promising her no worries.

Seeing Maya’s stubbornness, Ella couldn’t stand it either, joining in, "Maya, stop overthinking. Look at your life now; you not only have to please him but are watched over by him every day. You’re not a prisoner, nor do you owe him anything. President Morris has already arranged everything. You can leave boldly."

Listening to their advice, Maya was at a loss. She knew that even if she talked her mouth dry, they wouldn’t believe her, only thinking she was worried about the two companies.

Indeed, she was also concerned about these because they underestimated Liam’s capabilities. Since emotional arguments couldn’t persuade them, she’d take a rational approach.
