CHAPTER 380: CHAPTER 378: A DOG CATCHING A RAT [3RD UPDATE]
"No! No! Didn’t you leave? Why are you still using this phone number? This isn’t right!" Maya’s tears abruptly stopped as she suddenly realized something was wrong: why was Ella still using this phone number?
"Uh... I didn’t manage to leave, I’m still in S City." Maya explained hesitantly, feeling a bit awkward.
"Why? That’s impossible! When I received the principal’s call that day, you were already on the plane. Why didn’t you manage to leave?" Ella was shocked.
"Ella, let’s talk when we meet, it’s too complicated to explain over the phone."
"Mm-hmm!" So, the two girls agreed to meet at noon to discuss the torment each had been through recently.
...
In a certain coffee shop in the department store, Maya arrived early and waited for Ella at a window seat.
She thought, during this time Ella must have been terrified, which led her to quit her job and hide at home, not daring to see anyone. Clearly, Liam caused not only Maya’s phobia but also Ella’s.
In the coffee shop, she supported her chin with her left hand on the table, watching the customers coming and going outside the window, her mind pondering how to explain her relationship with Liam to Ella.
Now that she and Liam had reconciled, Ella would surely feel awkward.
She raised her right hand, glanced at her watch; it was already 12 o’clock. After meeting, they would change venues to a restaurant for lunch.
But after waiting for 50 minutes, why hadn’t Ella arrived? Maya worried that something had happened to her and called her again.
On the other end, Ella cheerfully, hastily said, "I haven’t been out for a while, just did a bit of grooming, I’m already in the elevator, will be there soon, will be there soon!"
As she hung up the phone, the elevator happened to stop at the intended floor. She scratched her short hair, took big strides, and hurriedly walked towards the coffee shop.
"Oh my..." In her haste, she didn’t look carefully at the road ahead and clumsily bumped into a strong chest, hurting her nose.
Therefore, she held her nose, raised her head, glared angrily at the person, and reproached, "Are you blind when walking? It hurt when you bumped into me."
Just as she finished speaking, she regretted it immediately, quickly bowed her head, pretended nothing happened, and moved two steps to the right, bypassed the man she bumped into, and quickly left the scene.
However, she had barely taken two steps when the man grabbed her collar and forcibly pulled her back.
Seeing her still holding her nose, the man took a deep breath, threw her aside, raised his right hand, took away the hand she was covering her nose with, and angrily said, "Ella, don’t think just because you’ve cut your hair short, I won’t recognize you."
The man’s tone was unpleasant, as if he had deep-seated hatred towards her.
Ella looked at the man’s angry expression, immediately raised her lips and greeted him with a fake smile, "Assistant Reed, long time no see!"
"Ha-ha! Long time no see? Indeed, a long time! How dare you show up in S City? Shouldn’t you have disappeared with Lillian?" Elijah fumed over her helping Lillian to abduct Maya, his anger boiling.
Today, having caught her, he was determined to teach her a lesson to prevent future similar offenses.
"Disappear? What did you do to President Morris? You couldn’t have silenced her, right!" Hearing the word ’disappear,’ Ella quickly took a few steps back, trying to seize the chance to flee.
Elijah, seeing her little moves, swiftly grabbed her wrist and pulled her in the opposite direction, saying, "Daring to abduct the boss’s wife, you must give a reasonable explanation to the BOSS."
Though Elijah wasn’t Liam, remembering Ella pushing Maya into Lillian’s arms made him not any less angry, even more furious than Liam.
Ella, panicked after being grabbed, quickly squatted on the ground, rummaged through her bag with her left hand, looking for a phone to call Maya for help.
Seeing her actions, Elijah immediately snatched her phone, angrily saying, "Even if you call the boss’s wife, it’s of no use, you must see the BOSS."
"I won’t go! I won’t go! Let go of me!" Ella squatted on the ground, struggling while shouting not to see Liam.
Liam, that big pervert, since he could abuse Maya so severely, would definitely not let her off easily, so she absolutely couldn’t go.
"Now you’re scared, why didn’t you consider the consequences when abducting the boss’s wife?" Elijah heard her cries, showing no sympathy, still pulling her to meet Liam.
At this moment, Ella also panicked. She fiercely pinched Elijah’s arm, reasoning, "Maya and President Morris are in love, you forced and threatened her, I’m only fulfilling my humanitarian and friendship duties by saving her from distress, why should I disappear?"
Ella thought she was about to be silenced too.
Her defense made Elijah displeased; he abruptly hauled Ella up from the ground, lowered his head to stare into her eyes, and solemnly asked, "Do you have a problem with your vision? When did Miss Maya fall in love with President Morris? Can’t you see she’s happy with the BOSS?"
"I can’t see!" Ella said pitifully, biting her lip and shaking her head.
Elijah, hearing her retort, took a deep breath, angrily pulling her, and said, "Too lazy to explain to you, come with me to meet the BOSS."
"Won’t go! Won’t go! Elijah, let go of me. Are you Liam’s lapdog? You meddle in his love life too? What does it have to do with you? Seriously, a dog meddling in others’ business." Seeing that reasoning with him was useless, Ella resorted to provocation, hoping he’d spare her.
"What did you just call me?" Elijah was very averse to being called a dog; last time he got into a fight with Henry for calling him a ’dog.’
Moreover, he and Liam’s feelings were beyond their understanding, so he hated others’ careless comments, especially using the word ’dog.’
Ella observed Elijah’s furrowed brows, struggled twice, and stuttered, "I... I mean... exactly, you’re just an assistant, why meddle in the boss’s love life? Isn’t it a dog’s business?"
At this time, a crowd of passersby gathered around them, watching the scene.
"Then I’m definitely meddling in this business." Elijah gritted his teeth in anger.
"Help! Help! I don’t know him, someone please save me." Seeing Elijah had no plans to let her go, Ella pleaded to the surrounding pedestrians.
However, nobody paid her any mind, only pointing and commenting.
"Elijah, let go of me, there’s no need for you to meddle as a dog, let go of me, you’re Liam’s lapdog, even if I abducted Maya, that’s someone else’s wife, not yours." Being dragged made Ella frustrated, so she lashed out without restraint.
But as Ella shouted this, everyone started pointing at her, thinking she had done something wrong.
Hearing her continually insult with ’dog,’ Elijah’s mind went blank with rage; he immediately flung her in front of him and angrily warned, "Try insulting me again?"
