North America Gunman Detective
Chapter 825 - 493: Aftermath of the Case Report
Jimmy and Ruiz waited for the ambulance to take the body away, drove over to put up a crime scene tape around the body, left an agent there, and then returned to the office.
The report this time is a bit tricky to handle. Jimmy sat at his desk, pulling out a sheet of paper and jotting down everything little by little, then cutting out parts that weren't suitable to be written, especially about him tracking phone numbers and going to the warehouse alone.
The sun hadn't come up yet. Jimmy had roughly sorted out the process. The other parts were easy to explain, except for why he was at the Queens Marina Dock, which he couldn't explain. This truly needed some communication with Ruiz.
Taylor from the field office didn't care about it. He was following the whole time; Jimmy and Ruiz communicated by phone and did not inform him.
Jimmy went to Ruiz's office. He was already asleep on the desk. Ruiz didn't have the same spiritual power as Jimmy. Jimmy could stay awake with his Heart Eye open for an entire day without any problem, even though he was a bit muddled just now when writing the report, it's too hard to come up with excuses.
Jimmy couldn't wait too long, and he had no choice but to look at the sleeping Ruiz, pour himself a cup of terrible coffee, and said, "Ruiz, hey, wake up."
Ruiz lifted his head to see Jimmy, then glanced at his watch, "What's up?"
Jimmy: "There's a little issue with the case report, need to discuss it with you."
Ruiz: "Where?"
Jimmy: "The clue about us going to the docks, I called you."
Ruiz blinked, his mind wasn't as sharp when sleepy, "Oh, I remember now, just say we got a tip-off."
Jimmy: "I don't have an informant to give an example."
Ruiz: "Personal connections then?"
Jimmy: "Personal connections can't explain how the investigation was done, the bureau's investigation wasn't complete at that time."
Ruiz: "Wait a minute."
Ruiz went out, washed his face with cold water in the restroom to wake himself up a bit, then returned to the office, drank half a cup of coffee, and took a long breath, "Okay, let's deal with this properly."
Jimmy first let Ruiz see the report he wrote. Starting with going to the hospital and waiting for Ryan to awaken wasn't a problem, and there was no issue with waiting for Taylor's on-site inspection and questioning the surrounding people.
The problem occurred in the subsequent stage where they went to the gang hideout to find leads; this part was information found by Ruiz, but in the second hideout here, Jimmy simply wrote that they got a phone number of a person possibly acquainted with the suspect from them.
This process was completely omitted, which wasn't a problem on the report, but if the OPR were to investigate afterward, they might uncover the incident of four people being shot on site.
Ruiz thought for a moment, "Little by little, I'll warn the Black Gang restaurant, it's not a big problem."
Jimmy shrugged: "The gunfire was an accidental discharge and internal conflict; that gun was Anthony's, not mine, besides, I wore gloves, no fingerprints. I've also checked the restaurant; there are no surveillance cameras, at least no recording. I think as long as you and Taylor are fine, no one can point the finger at me."
Ruiz: "Yeah, that's a supplement. I'll notify them. Next is determining Brian's location from the phone, first use personal relations to cover it, and if they do dig deeper, I'll figure it out for you then."
Jimmy: "How will you fix it?"
Ruiz: "You don't need to worry about that, I have a way to cover it, just push it to me."
Jimmy: "You know a familiar hacker?"
Ruiz nodded: "It's better to first use personal relationships to deflect it, to avoid trouble. Some things aren't convenient to say in that setting."
Jimmy nodded, envious of Ruiz's connections, wishing he had a hacker to take the fall for him at any time. This could be part of his future plan; he had thought before about setting up a support team to assist his work and personal matters, and now it seems to be on the agenda.
Ruiz: "Next is the docks, have you thought about what to say then?"
Jimmy: "Two people who have been out of prison for less than a year, renting a Brooklyn detached house priced at least three thousand a month, which itself indicates they must have other illegal income. Since someone familiar with them appeared at the dock, it is likely they are involved in illegal activities at the dock, most likely smuggling.
Given this consideration, I decided to scout and confirm, and because I didn't want to implicate you, I let you leave first, then went in alone. Of course, this time, I was lucky and stumbled upon an ongoing smuggling case, conveniently disrupting their smuggling operation."
Ruiz: "Then we'll need to communicate in advance with Emma on her side, okay, I'll handle this, because it was my call notifying her at that time!"
Jimmy: "After that, there's the internal informant at the Coast Guard; they slipped away after receiving notice, muddying the waters, could shift some attention, right?"
Ruiz: "That has nothing to do with us; if it's an OPR investigation, it won't be of much use, if a federal prosecutor comes asking, it might help a little, but not much."
Jimmy: "Okay, next is your investigation results and our raid, nothing much to say about that, just write it normally. By the way, how's Emma's smuggling case investigation going?"
Ruiz: "Not clear yet, probably need to wait until noon or afternoon for definite news."
