North America Gunman Detective
Chapter 853 - 505: Unexpected Gain (Part 2)
The person on the second floor is not very old, looking to be in his twenties, a white male with somewhat long hair, not at all like a federal agent or a gang member, with no tattoos on the exposed parts of his skin.
Jimmy: "Name."
"Dylan Jenkins."
Jimmy: "The name of the person downstairs, what's your relationship?"
Dylan: "Adam Gallagher, we both rent here. We don't have much money."
Jimmy: "Money aside, who sent you guys to surveil Pam?"
Dylan's eyes widened: "Aren't you a robber?"
Jimmy: "Answer me, give me a satisfactory answer. Or do you want to undergo interrogation, illegally?"
Dylan said nothing, Jimmy continued: "Seems like you chose interrogation, alright, I'll fulfill your request."
Jimmy delivered a side kick, knocking Dylan off the chair and onto the floor, Dylan yelped, Jimmy said: "If you make another sound, I'll shoot you. You won't survive until the cops arrive."
Dylan immediately shut his mouth, lying on the floor looking up at Jimmy.
Jimmy: "Who sent you?"
Dylan: "What happened to Adam? Is he still alive?"
Jimmy: "For now, he's still alive. What I need is an answer, but I don't need two living people. Have you thought it through?"
Dylan: "OK, OK. I'll talk."
Dylan struggled to sit up, leaning against the side of the bed, "We are private investigators, someone paid us to surveil that family."
Jimmy: "Who?"
Dylan: "Just someone named Jin, don't know his full name, we contacted over the phone."
Jimmy: "How long have you been monitoring?"
Dylan: "For over a month."
Jimmy: "Just the two of you?"
Dylan: "Yes, Adam handles the client contacts, I handle the surveillance setup."
Jimmy: "How did you surveil? Did she not notice you?"
Dylan: "I installed a surveillance camera and a bug in her living room, we monitored her from upstairs of the opposite building."
Jimmy: "Why leave? How did you find out they weren't there?"
Dylan: "We went to the monitoring house, saw no one in the surveillance, went to her house to check, confirmed they left. They've never been away from home for long, especially with the little kid around. Plus, the room was a bit messy, clearly, they left in a hurry."
Jimmy: "Tell me about Jin, when and how did you contact?"
Dylan: "Adam handled the contact, I'm not sure."
Jimmy: "So you have no clue about Jin's situation, right?"
Jimmy raised the gun he had set down previously, Dylan urgently said: "Wait, I know, I investigated him."
Jimmy: "You investigated?"
Dylan: "Yes, on my computer, I investigated his phone number, traced his location."
Jimmy raised an eyebrow: "Are you a hacker?"
Dylan: "I learned a bit, just a small-timer."
Jimmy: "Show me."
Dylan got up, Jimmy pulled out a folding knife to cut the tie, Dylan sat at the computer, opened a file, and turned the laptop to show Jimmy.
Sure enough, it was Bill King, but it was a surveillance image, not an ID photo, and not very clear. Jimmy had obtained information from contacts at the Intercontinental Hotel, which included a copy of Bill King's ID photo, while Dylan used his skills to investigate.
Jimmy: "Just this surveillance image?"
Dylan: "Yes, his phone number is unregistered, can't confirm his identity, but you can use the phone number location and nearby surveillance footage to find him."
Jimmy: "Where did you get the intel from?"
Dylan: "Can't say."
Jimmy: "If you can't say, then show me. Investigate a phone number for me." Jimmy reported Mahong's anonymous phone number.
Dylan glanced at the handgun in Jimmy's hand, straightened the computer, and started operating. With some command windows switching back and forth, after operations that Jimmy couldn't understand at all, Dylan opened a window and input Mahong's phone number.
The progress bar slowly moved forward, after a few minutes, Mahong's location appeared on the map. Jimmy took a look; the phone number was located at the hospital, right where Mahong was admitted.
Although he didn't understand the operation, Jimmy had gone through FBI training, and he roughly understood that Dylan used some loopholes to connect to the phone company's database. To achieve this, Dylan was no ordinary person, especially using just a laptop.
Jimmy: "Investigate King's location again."
Dylan re-entered the phone number, waited for a long time, and finally King's location showed, in Helena, Montana, consistent with the intel he had received.
Jimmy: "What's your relationship with Adam downstairs? Your relationship."
Dylan: "Just collaboration, we often take on tasks, investigating intel."
Jimmy: "How did you know each other?"
Dylan: "In prison, after he knew my capability, he protected me in prison. After release, we started cooperating."
Jimmy: "What's your charge?"
Dylan: "Identity theft, nine months."
Jimmy: "What about Adam?"
Dylan: "Burglary, robbery, and more."
Jimmy nodded, picked up Dylan's wallet, took out his driver's license and glanced at it, then checked his phone's call log and number, "Thank God, you're not a waste. Now, put your hands behind your back."
Dylan, seeing Jimmy check his phone, knew he was safe. He finally relaxed, obediently put his hands behind his back, letting Jimmy bind him again with cable ties.
Jimmy: "Wait here, don't call the police." He got up, left the bedroom, went downstairs, Adam was still lying on the ground, Jimmy felt his carotid artery, there was a heartbeat.
Jimmy didn't move him, just picked up his phone to check, indeed there were several calls to King in the call log, seems the information Dylan provided was correct. Jimmy tossed the phone on the ground, jumped out the window the same way as before, closed the window, returned to his car, and drove away from there.
These two were only responsible for surveillance on Pam, since their relationship with King was just employment, there was no need to eliminate them, and that Dylan, was somewhat capable, might be useful in certain situations.
Jimmy wore a hat and mask throughout, never took off his gloves, the only trace he left in the house was his shoe print, not a big deal.
About Chicago, just this kind of questioning, without other losses, even if they call the police, no one would come for a detailed investigation. Jimmy had great confidence in the police.
After this visit, he believed these two wouldn't monitor Pam's house again, now the remaining task was finding King's location.
The next day, Jimmy came to the hospital, Mahong was already standing, moving slowly in the ward.
Jimmy: "Wow, can you move now?"
Mahong: "The gunshot wound is on the chest, not the leg, as long as I don't do intense exercise, just walking, it's not a big problem."
Jimmy: "I've already investigated, Pam's house was indeed monitored. But rest assured, it's been resolved. Here, take this."
Jimmy handed Mahong an unregistered phone, "Change your phone, contact me using this from now on."
Mahong took the new phone, walked to the bedside, picked up the phone Jimmy gave him yesterday, and returned it to Jimmy. "I want to go back to continue investigating."
Jimmy frowned: "Now? Are you sure it's okay?"
Mahong nodded: "If I'm just investigating in the office, it's not a big problem."
Jimmy: "Alright, take care of yourself. By the way, that Bill King, he has an unregistered phone, and it's currently showing he's in Helena, Montana."
Mahong: "Confirmed? Give me the number, I'll have someone keep an eye on him."
Jimmy: "Well, that's best, I can't mobilize too many resources to handle things now."
Mahong: "Don't worry, I'll handle it."
Without worries, Mahong clearly looked much better mentally. He was now trapped in the hospital and couldn't get tranquilizers. If no accident happened, he probably hadn't taken any these days, now he was much better than when Jimmy first saw him, his willpower was really strong.
Jimmy: "Don't touch drugs anymore. I'll stay here for two or three more days, inform me if there's any definite news."
Mahong nodded, Jimmy really couldn't be underestimated, just seeing how he completed those tasks in two days, it was evident that his connections and network were massive. He truly was a reliable guy.
