All the police drew their guns and aimed at the ambulance. An African-American man, also covered in tattoos, raised his hands from the driver's seat and was immediately dragged out by the police and pinned to the ground.

Several police officers went to the back of the ambulance to open the door and check; there was no one inside except this driver.

"It's safe, he has no weapons. No one else is in the ambulance, just him, not the four people you reported."

Although Li's car lost control, it eventually stopped safely. After getting out, he sprinted over and, upon seeing the situation, slapped the roof of a police car, swearing out loud.

Distract the tiger from the mountain; although there's no such idiom in the United States, it's exactly what Jimmy was thinking now.

Jimmy: "Li, contact the hospital immediately and arrange an investigation. Is there any support staff over there?"

Li: "Only one agent, watching over the two agents who were shot. I'll contact them now."

As Li grabbed his phone, he cursed under his breath. This was such a major screw-up, but luckily Jimmy acted quickly. If they had chased for another half an hour to an hour, as the police usually do, it would have all been for nothing.

Both drivers were handed over to the police, and the car was of course taken back for further investigation. Li got in another FBI car; his own car needed to be towed back.

A group directly crossed the barrier and returned to Palm Beach from the opposite lane, with Jimmy, of course, tagging along.

The PIT maneuver was exhilarating at first, but now on the way back, considering the repair costs, it wasn't so exciting anymore. He was in a bit of trouble now; the rented car's front end was trashed, the front bumper was loose and twisted, and it might just fall off by the time he drove it back.

It wasn't just the car; what was more frustrating was that they fell into a trap so easily.

If Jimmy had been at the hospital, he would have noticed sooner that the ambulance was empty, that the number of people in the two vehicles didn't match the number of attackers. But Li and his team didn't have this capability, and by the time they spotted the gunmen and thought they had hijacked the ambulance, they had seamlessly fallen into the trap, dragging Jimmy down with them.

It had been over half an hour since they left the hospital, and the gunmen and their rescuers had likely disappeared by now.

Li called the agent left at the hospital, asking him to go to the security room and check surveillance footage, while they hurried back to the hospital to see if there was any hope of picking up the trail.

Luckily, though they initially pursued the wrong lead, they did find something in the hospital's surveillance: two people were pushing someone in a wheelchair into a black GMC Yukon, and the somewhat unclear license plate number was also recorded.

Li immediately arranged for the Miami office to assist in investigating, and coordinated with the Palm Beach police to track the vehicle's route and locate them.

By the time they returned to Palm Beach, the black GMC still hadn't been found, though the general route was clear—they had left Palm Beach and headed south towards Miami. However, the exact location of the vehicle had not been determined.

Since there was no resolution yet, Jimmy left the convoy and returned to the hotel. The hotel he booked was the same one where Dave and his wife Lucy were staying. After escorting Lucy back to the hotel the day they arrived, Jimmy couldn't be bothered to change locations and just checked into the same hotel.

Dave, after Jimmy called, had been discharged from the hospital and returned to the hotel. This matter seemed quite significant, and it felt safer in a high-end hotel; importantly, with the couple together, it was easier for the bodyguards to ensure their safety.

Dave didn't meet with Jimmy in his own room; instead, he came to Jimmy's room, possibly to keep Lucy from knowing too much.

Jimmy had nothing to hide, having already told Dave at the hospital last night about the captured gunmen. This time it was mainly about the car chase today, which was indeed embarrassing as they were misled from the hospital source and only ended up catching two unrelated individuals.

Dave fell silent after listening. The efficiency of this team of gunmen was too high. Captured at night, they had all the rescue procedures arranged by morning, including locating the gunmen, setting up decoys to distract, and swiftly rescuing people from the hospital. Such a team is not something just anyone could put together.

This whole shooting incident hinted at a major event's eerie atmosphere. Dave, having been a collateral victim, seemed not keen to get further involved. The best choice appeared to be to withdraw timely.

Dave: "Jimmy, do you have any confidence?"

Jimmy understood what Dave meant and replied somewhat casually, "Without enough clues to find them, if we can locate them, just these few guys aren't a big problem."

Dave: "I'm flying back to New York the day after tomorrow. If it's not resolved by then, come back with me."

Jimmy: "Understood, I'll handle it as soon as possible."

Dave nodded and left Jimmy's room. Jimmy saw Dave out and finally got a moment to rest.

Dave is a bit petty; because he got caught in a crossfire and took a bullet, he's having Jimmy handle this. Now seeing the case is getting complicated, he's preparing to bail. But leaving directly didn't sit well with him, so he decided to give Jimmy one more day to see what unfolds. So, let's get to work.

After a short break, Jimmy called Li, only to learn they decided to leave Palm Beach and return to Miami. Jimmy thought for a bit and suggested meeting Li to discuss it. He immediately went out and drove over to find Li.

Jimmy got out of the car, Li stood beside another vehicle, "What's up?"

Jimmy: "Let's talk over there." Li didn't refuse, and they went aside to a quieter place. Jimmy pulled out a pack of cigarettes and offered one to Li, lighting it with his lighter before lighting one for himself, "Li, you know my involvement comes from above, needing to follow up on this case."

Li nodded. Jimmy: "You're heading back to Miami—did you find new clues? I need to follow along for a bit."

Li: "How long?"

Jimmy: "Until the day after tomorrow."

Li took a drag on his cigarette, thought for a moment, and nodded, "No problem, come with us. We've located the general area of that black GMC. It was last seen on cameras heading into Miami, and now people in Miami have been assigned to investigate. We're going over to take over."

Jimmy: "Thanks."

Li lifted his hand, returned to the car, and drove off, with Jimmy following in his damaged car, heading to Miami together. Miami isn't far from Palm Beach, less than 200 kilometers, and driving quickly, you can reach Miami's city area in just about two hours. By now, those who rescued the gunmen had been gone for just over an hour.

The FBI's professionalism was still on full display. Upon obtaining the last-known vehicle information from surveillance, they started pursuing the possible routes, utilizing real-time road surveillance footage, and finally rediscovered the GMC on Li and his team's way back to Miami.

They immediately sped up towards Miami, and through traffic camera footage, the Miami office's surveillance team finally caught up with them on the GMC's probable route, and everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

Three hours after the hospital rescue, the GMC finally stopped. However, upon receiving the notification from the surveillance team, everyone who got the news felt like swearing.

The GMC stopped in Opa-locka, on the northwest side of Miami, the area with the worst security in Miami, and decidedly a place you shouldn't go when touring Miami.

Li and his team arrived in Opa-locka an hour later. Agents from the office, supported by the surveillance team's intelligence, were already hidden outside the neighborhood, not approaching to avoid alarming them.

Li's men were the two agents who got shot, and he was leading this case, so even with the target confirmed, others didn't directly launch a raid.

Li and Jimmy parked their two vehicles outside the neighborhood and briefly chatted with the on-site agents. With the intelligence clear, this raid operation had received approval from the office's upper management; they would launch a raid and capture at a seafood market warehouse district during daylight.

Li took a bullet-proof vest and rifle from their car, equipped himself, and began outlining the raid plan, which didn't involve Jimmy. He was left out of the operation.

Jimmy didn't insist, only saying he'd wait on the perimeter for their outcome.

They synchronized their watches, planning to move out in half an hour. As the radio relayed instructions to other agents, Li led his team towards the warehouse district on foot, the raid about to officially commence.
