North America Gunman Detective
Chapter 950 - 549: Delayed Intelligence (Part 2)
Jimmy: "Hospital. What's going on?"
Caitlin: "Did you do the Brooklyn thing?"
Jimmy: "Explosion? Yes, I was attacked."
Caitlin: "How are you? Can you leave the hospital and come to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau?"
Jimmy: "I need to wait a bit. Is it urgent?"
Caitlin: "Yes, come over as soon as possible."
Jimmy: "OK."
Jimmy glanced at his left calf, now stitched and bandaged again. He had to be careful walking to avoid opening the wound, but it shouldn't be a big problem.
The suit and pants were already torn; Jimmy greeted the doctor, exited the hospital, and found a nearby clothing store to buy a new outfit before heading to Federal Square by taxi.
Before meeting Caitlin, Jimmy needed to return to the office to see Hughes first, at least to align internally to avoid unexpected situations.
Hughes' office, Jimmy arrived after Mahong was already there. After greeting them, he sat next to Mahong, "What do we do now?"
Hughes: "First, describe the situation."
Jimmy nodded: "I got some intelligence from a certain source. Someone bought hospital shootout information, focusing especially on my and Mahong's data. So, Mahong waits in the office for news and support, while I went out as bait to hopefully draw them out.
Yesterday we almost pinpointed their location based on a cellphone number but they noticed and destroyed the phone, so the pinpointing failed.
Today, I got a photo and then was ambushed on the street. Three gunmen, they used two grenades and a rocket launcher."
Mahong added: "M72, we've already retrieved the launch device."
Jimmy: "Yeah, that's all. I took down all three gunmen; one of them was the person who purchased our information, named Mrs. Perkins."
Hughes: "Anything else?"
Jimmy: "No, that's all."
Hughes stood up, "This attack targets the Federation agents and is classified as a terrorist attack by DHS. So, now the case is led by DHS, and they're temporarily commanding at the Anti-Terrorism Bureau."
Jimmy: "So, should we go to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau?"
Hughes: "Yes, be cautious. Some matters are easily exaggerated by them, be careful."
Jimmy glanced at Mahong, Mahong nodded, and both stood up, "We'll go now."
Hughes: "By the way, Jimmy, Mrs. Mason has contacted the media, and the federal court issued an urgent restriction order. Videos related to the terrorist attack are restricted from broadcast. Only two segments have aired, not the entire attack process."
Jimmy nodded: "I understand. I'll contact Mrs. Mason."
Jimmy and Mahong left Hughes' office, took Mahong's car to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau.
As Mahong drove, he said: "Jimmy, consider where your intelligence came from."
Jimmy nodded: "I'll contact Mrs. Mason first."
At the Anti-Terrorism Bureau, Mahong and Jimmy got out of the car, registered at the front desk, and came to the command center. Caitlin turned to Jimmy and Mahong, "You arrived, let's do the record first."
Jimmy: "Has all the on-site video been recovered?"
Caitlin walked with them, saying: "Yes, multiple departments worked together; most of it has been recovered. Well done, worthy of your training."
Jimmy glanced at Mahong, feeling Caitlin's words were quite perilous.
Just then, Jimmy's phone rang. He glanced at it, "I need to take this call, wait a moment."
He went to a nearby empty office and answered the call, "Speak."
"Mr. Yang, I'm Jude. Sorry about what happened today; the intelligence was a bit late."
Jimmy: "Got the intelligence now?"
"Yes, when are you available? I can give you the data."
Jimmy: "Wait for my call."
"Alright, Mr. Yang."
Jimmy hung up, walked out of the office, nodded to Caitlin and the others, and went to a meeting room. Two DHS agents were already seated in the room.
Jimmy looked at them, they seemed familiar.
"Bill Becker, this is my colleague Jack Dylan, we're from DHS."
Jimmy: "Oh, I remember. You investigated a case before too. Nice to meet again."
Bill: "Yes, we keep meeting. Agent Mahong, Agent Yang, let's chat later, we should start now."
The inquiry was simple, requiring Jimmy to detail the hospital's large-scale shooting and the street gunfight and explosion. These were experienced by Jimmy and Mahong, so they complemented each other, finally completing the inquiry.
The process wasn't complex, but Jimmy refused to reveal the intelligence source. It was acquired through private channels and couldn't be provided currently. Agent Bill didn't press further, just recorded it in his notebook.
Bill: "Thank you for cooperating. Agent Yang, please don't leave Manhattan; we might need to verify some situations later."
Jimmy nodded: "Of course, I'll fully cooperate."
Bill: "OK, you may leave."
Jimmy and Mahong stood up, shook hands with the two DHS agents, and left the meeting room.
Back in the car, Mahong asked: "Where to next?"
Jimmy: "Take me to Central Park."
Mahong didn't ask further, just started the car and left the Anti-Terrorism Bureau, dropping Jimmy at Central Park and then leaving.
Jimmy took out his phone, called Jude: "Deliver to Central Park, I'm by Bethesda Fountain Plaza."
"OK, I'll be there in about fifteen minutes."
Jimmy hung up, walked to the steps by the fountain plaza, and sat down to wait.
Central Park was always bustling, Jimmy sat on the steps, waiting while observing the people around him. After just experiencing an attack, this relaxed environment was just right to ease his nerves.
Soon, Jude approached with a briefcase, looked around the fountain area, then sat down next to Jimmy.
Jude: "I heard about today's events, glad you're unharmed."
Jimmy: "Nothing much, just a minor skirmish. Where's the stuff?"
Jude opened the briefcase, took out several folded papers, and handed them to Jimmy, "All the intelligence we could find is here, Mrs. Perkins' information and the location of one of their training camps. Sorry we couldn't get detailed info on the camp due to urgency."
Jimmy unfolded the papers and started reading, beginning with Perkins' intel. Mrs. Perkins' full name is Catherine Perkins, though this isn't her real name; no one knows her real name. Her codename within the organization is 'Falcon'; despite her young age, she has rich task experience, mainly active in the Northeast United States, in cities like Washington, New York, and Boston.
The file includes her photo, but it's no longer useful; she was killed by Jimmy on-site, her body held at the morgue.
The next section contains information about Perkins' organization, 'Deep Red Rose,' a highly secretive organization. Their headquarters is in New York State, but there's no specific address in the documents.
'Deep Red Rose' members undergo rigorous training and are all female, educated in secret camps across the United States.
These camps simulate various scenarios, cultivating female assassins' infiltration, combat, shooting, and intelligence collection skills.
However, most of these camps are cooperative in nature; the women are just sent there for training.
The file notes one training camp hidden at the Eliot Lake Mine in central Ontario, Canada; the exact location is unknown. This is the only known independent training camp of their organization.
Jimmy put away the papers, looked at Jude: "Is this information confirmed?"
Jude nodded: "This is all the information we know currently, everything is here."
Jimmy stood up: "I guess you understand the situation now; Perkins attacking me has been classified as a terrorist attack. How many more will get dragged in is still unknown. Be ready; I might need an intelligence trader to submit."
Jude picked up the briefcase and stood as well, "I'll be prepared. Thank you, Mr. Yang."
Jimmy: "Keep investigating, I need their headquarters address and specific camp location, preferably personnel information."
Jude: "I understand. Goodbye, Mr. Yang."
