North America Gunman Detective
Chapter 952 - 550: Investigation (Part 2)
Jack: "I think we'll need to adjust some information with the FBI, the Anti-Terrorism Bureau probably doesn't have gang intel."
Bill: "Contact Agent Mahong, and have them submit it as soon as possible."
Jack: "Understood, I'll call right now."
Jack stood up and left the conference room to make a call, while Bill continued to look at the materials in his hand and marked several key points with a pen.
Jack returned after making the call: "Agent Mahong is from the Homicide Team, we need to get the information from the Organized Crime Investigation Group, it might take until tomorrow."
Bill: "No problem, stay on them to get it over quickly. What I'm concerned about is this, the shooters at the hospital before and the female shooter caught earlier, none of them have relevant data, nor do they have IDs. If these people have never been to prison or hospitalized, they must have the ability to clear those traces.
But these few people don't fit that, they all have clear identities and live right here in New York, so can we conclude they're all locally hired? This repair shop is suspicious; it should be a base for their organization. They escaped too quickly, cleaned too thoroughly, it's best to continue the pursuit.
The two people from the Poison Snake Gang, they're the only two gang members among these people, so there must be someone in this gang who can communicate with our target organization, which is also one of the clues we need to follow up on."
Jack: "Seems like we need more manpower, should we bring someone from the FBI over?"
Bill: "Yes, the Anti-Terrorism Bureau investigates the weapon sources, and the FBI investigates the Poison Snake Gang."
Jack: "Okay, I'll contact the FBI. Should we include that Jimmy?"
Bill was silent, Jimmy, they had dealt with him before.
If it were a regular case, having Jimmy, a Senior Agent with an exceptional solve rate, would be really helpful. But in this case, Jimmy is their target, if he joins the investigation team, will there be unforeseen issues?
Bill contemplated for a moment, then nodded: "Go and ask, if internally they are willing to have him join, then bring him in."
Jack nodded and left the conference room with his phone.
-----------------
When Jimmy got the call from the bureau, he was a bit puzzled, since the DHS case involved him, he should technically avoid involvement, so why suddenly arrange for him to join the investigation team?
Jimmy reached and touched the bandage on his calf, as long as walking wasn't a problem, it was fine.
He got up and went to the bedroom, opened the wardrobe to get a fresh set of suit and shirt, adjusted his holster, went to the study to replenish some bullets, and then left the house.
His CLS was still not back, the car was taken as evidence for investigation after a shootout, although it could be taken later, Jimmy was busy with cases, and with an FBI car to use, he didn't go through the hassle of dealing with car insurance.
This left Jimmy with only his blue Mercury as a usable car, but that blue Mercury hadn't been driven for too long, the battery might be dead, and tires possibly deflated. With no other choice, Jimmy called a taxi company to get a cab over.
Taking the taxi to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau, Jimmy registered and went upstairs, arriving at the DHS meeting room.
Bill: "Welcome, Jimmy."
Jimmy shook hands with Bill and Jack, "Thanks, Bill, Jack."
He came to the conference table, "What do you need me to do? How far have you got with the investigation?"
Bill: "We have identified two of the three people from today; they're both from the Poison Snake Gang."
Jimmy frowned: "Poison Snake Gang? Are you sure?"
Bill nodded: "Yes, the Anti-Terrorism Bureau has identified their identities, they're security at the Snake Dance Club."
Jimmy raised his hand to pause Bill, pacing back and forth, "I need to step out for a call, please wait a moment."
Bill nodded, and Jimmy left the meeting room, finding another empty room outside, took out his cell phone and dialed Ruiz's number.
Ruiz didn't answer immediately, Jimmy waited for over ten seconds before the call was picked up: "Jimmy, what's up?"
Jimmy: "Ruiz? Are you busy?"
Ruiz: "Yeah, on a mission."
Jimmy: "Okay, call me back when you're free, I'll wait for you."
Ruiz hung up, and it took about ten minutes for him to call back. Jimmy was standing in the fire escape, smoking, when the phone rang. He glanced at it, dropped the cigarette butt on the ground and stomped on it, walking out of the fire escape to take the call, on his way back to the previous room.
Ruiz: "I'm free now, go ahead."
Jimmy: "Poison Snake Gang, how's your side handling them?"
Ruiz: "We got rid of half of them, but their boss wasn't captured on site. Why do you ask?"
Jimmy: "What case?"
Ruiz: "Smuggling and drug trafficking, we just cleared their warehouse and captured their second-in-command, Miguel Rodriguez, and some of their underlings. We have people arranged to go to their club and restaurant soon; results are expected shortly."
Jimmy: "Among those who attacked me today, two are security from their Snake Dance Club. Don't release them after capturing; I need to investigate them on my side as well."
Ruiz: "No problem, just a bit longer, the search and arrest warrants have been obtained."
Jimmy: "Waiting for your news."
After hanging up, Jimmy looked around and saw no one outside, then pulled the door open and left the room.
Returning to the meeting room: "Bill, the Poison Snake Gang will soon be captured, search and arrest warrants have already been issued."
Bill and Jack exchanged surprised glances. Since when did the FBI act so efficiently? They had indeed requested the FBI to provide information on the Poison Snake Gang earlier, but they didn't mention they were direct participants in the attack case.
Bill: "Why?"
Jimmy: "Smuggling and drug trafficking, we just took down a warehouse, captured the gang's second-in-command, and search and arrest warrants are already in place to capture the gang leader."
Bill was speechless, "Alright then, let's continue investigating the other cases. Jack, contact ATF, have them mobilize informants to investigate if any dealers have M72s, track their source. Jimmy, help us with the data too."
Jack nodded and left the meeting room.
Jimmy looked at Bill: "Am I the only one from the bureau here?"
Bill: "Yes, that's Hughes' opinion; having you as a liaison is sufficient. I'm sure Hughes is most familiar with your bureau, and since he arranged this, I trust having you here will be enough."
Jimmy nodded: "Alright, then, where do we start?"
Bill handed Jimmy a stack of files, "Start with investigating the hospital shooting; those five individuals with no data, find a way to track their whereabouts."
Bill recapped his earlier discussion with Jack to Jimmy, the biggest challenge now was these individuals without any information. Their identities couldn't be determined, so subsequently tracking the organization was impossible. Hence, the top priority was finding their movements in New York to reverse-track their origins.
Bill pointed to a box on the table: "This contains surveillance footage from around the hospital; take a look, start with the hospital parking lot."
Jimmy looked at the footage in front of him, feeling a bit frustrated, finding specific people among so much footage is quite a hassle.
Thinking it over, Jimmy went out to find Olivia in the command center, "Olivia, I need your help. Please arrange some people to assist me and the DHS in investigating the surveillance routes."
Olivia: "A lot?"
Jimmy nodded: "Dozens of videos; I can't review them all by myself in a short period."
Olivia thought for a moment: "Understood, I'll have the tech department first copy all the footage to the computer, then arrange people to review it together. Hold on, I'll get it sorted."
