CHAPTER 457: CHAPTER 276: FOUND THE SUSPECT!_1

Dean returned to the hotel, just about to take a shower, when his phone began to ring.

He picked it up and saw it was Cheston En, which made him frown. This guy, can’t he even handle working overtime through the night?

If the underling isn’t pulling his weight, how can the boss just sit back and enjoy the rewards?

So clueless.

He pressed the answer button, feigning ignorance. "What’s up, buddy?"

On the other end of the line, Cheston En sounded weary. He had watched surveillance footage all day and reviewed a lot of vehicle information. "Agent Dean," he said, "the precinct just received a missing person report. A tourist’s fiancée has gone missing at the airport. The missing person is exactly the type of young blonde woman we’re looking for!"

Hearing this, Dean’s relaxed expression immediately turned serious. "I’m on my way now!"

While on the road, Dean received another call, this time from Louise.

She was talking about the same incident. She had already left work, so she heard about it later than Cheston En.

「Half an hour later.」

At the front of the precinct, Dean met Cheston En and Louise, who had arrived earlier. Together, the three went to meet the person who reported the disappearance.

Louise had already learned the basics of the missing person case from a colleague en route, so she took the opportunity to fill in the two men while walking:

"The person who reported is from the Commonwealth, and the missing person is his fiancée. After they got off the plane, his fiancée went to the airport restroom, and he waited outside. When his fiancée hadn’t come out after over forty minutes, he felt something was wrong and called her phone. It turned out another lady in the restroom answered.

"Only then did he realize his fiancée had vanished into thin air from the restroom!"

"Where is the lady who answered the phone now?" Dean asked directly.

Regardless of whether this woman is a suspect, she could provide some valuable information.

Louise clearly understood this as well and said, "After receiving the report, the police brought the lady back for questioning. She’s now in the reception room along with the reporter."

As they spoke, the trio arrived at the police station’s reception room.

As soon as he entered, Dean was stunned. He hesitated as he looked at the figure sitting in the reception room, a man holding his head in pain. He couldn’t see the man’s face, but his physique, hairstyle, clothes, and overall appearance were strikingly similar to someone Dean hoped not to see.

Dean called out uncertainly, "Ross?"

The man, who was holding his head in his hands, heard his name. He looked up, confused and dazed, glancing around before his gaze finally settled on Dean. His eyes, filled with bewilderment, fear, and urgency, now flickered with a glimmer of hope.

Ross leaped from his chair and rushed over to Dean, saying excitedly, "Dean!"

Dean rolled his eyes.

Alright, it really is Ross!

He had a feeling this guy Ross was some kind of jinx to him.

That was why, after the incident with the killer, he hadn’t actively contacted Ross. He never expected that bitch Fate would forcibly bring them together again.

Seeing Ross so distraught, Dean patted his shoulder. "Ross, I’m glad to see you, but I really wish it weren’t under these circumstances."

Ross, upon seeing Dean, seemed to find his anchor. Reassured by Dean, Ross calmed his anxious emotions. He gathered his thoughts and, in a separate interrogation room, recounted the incident once more.

When Dean learned that Ross had come to Las Vegas with his fiancée primarily to find him, give him a surprise, and also to ask him to be the best man at their wedding, he felt a strange sense of unease deep down.

Best man, huh?

This generous guy actually considered him a close friend.

At this thought, Dean’s gaze towards Ross softened considerably. In that moment, Dean truly hoped that the person who had taken Ross’s fiancée was, in fact, the serial killer who dumped bodies. Because after the killer abducted his targets, there was always a three-day grace period. It wasn’t until after three days that the killer would take the victims to the dumping site to kill them. Otherwise, if professional human trafficking gangs were responsible, her ordeal—even if they managed to find her—would undoubtedly be more than Ross could bear.

Dean, of course, wouldn’t share these grim thoughts with the already guilt-ridden Ross. After comforting Ross for a while, Dean returned to the reception room to question the lady who had answered the phone.

According to the lady, she was a sales clerk at an airport counter. Going to the restroom had simply been an excuse to sneak a quick smoke. She was just about to leave when she heard a cell phone ring. Looking down, she saw a phone lying on the floor between her stall and the one next to it. She assumed someone had dropped their phone while using the stall and was now calling to find it. This sort of thing happened often in airport restrooms. So, with good intentions, she picked up the phone to answer.

What followed was what Ross had described.

During their conversation, Dean noticed something about the woman. The woman had a slender figure and was impeccably dressed. Lush blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders. Her red lips were naturally upturned. Her fitted suit and sheer stockings gave her a professional air, yet there was an unusual contrast to her overall presentation.

Of course, she was actually quite plain.

But these physical characteristics closely matched those of the previous five female victims.
