Olivia snatched the piece of paper and, without even ncing at it, casually tore it into fragments. Boris was furious. “You think the penalty is not severe enough, is that it?”
“Mr. Saunders, isn’t there something wrong with his interrogation process?” Olivia raised an eyebrow and looked at Stanley.
“This is a serious problem.” Stanley suppressed his anger. “Has no one ever instructed you in the proper procedure for taking statements?”
“Sure.” Olivia yawnedzily, her voice slow and rxed. “The person behind you is quite clever, sending you alone for the interrogation. If nothing goes wrong, everyone stays safe. But if something goes wrong, guess who’ll be the first to take the fall.”
Olivia fixed her gaze on Boris, as if trying to see right through him. “Anyway, I guess it’s not that beautiful leader of yours who’s hiding behind you.”
Boris stared with wide eyes, feeling somewhat shaken inside. He wondered, ‘Why does she know that someone is instructing me from behind the scenes.
‘Moreover, she’s absolutely right. If anything goes wrong with this, I’ll be the one to take the me.
‘It was only so that my family could live better that I agreed to help them. If, in the end, I end up sacrificing myself, the losses would outweigh the gains.‘
“If I were you, I would go to the director right now and have hime over to handle it.” Olivia raised her finger slightly, offering him a clear solution.
“Otherwise, I will hire awyer.” Olivia raised her eyes to meet his, systematically dismantling his psychological defenses.
“I am not someone who simply lets matters go. Are you sure that you and those behind you can withstand an investigation? When the timees, you will definitely lose your job.
“I am also curious whether the person behind you would sacrifice you as a pawn,” Olivia said.
For a moment, Stanley found it difficult to discern who was interrogating whom.
Boris paused in thought, nodded slightly, and said, “Well, wait here. I will go find the chief.”
‘Olivia made a very urate observation. The person who gives me money will never protect me, this little pawn,‘ he thought.
“Olivia, you are truly remarkable,” Stanley said with admiration, nodding. “This is truly ruthless.b” /b
“Just as expected.” Olivia let out a soft chuckle, tucking her hair behind her ear to reveal a purple rose mark.
By sheer coincidence, Victor happened to see the mark, and his pupils contracted slightly. ‘No wonder I found Olivia so familiar. It turns out she is… Victor thought.

“You’re selling yourself short,” Stanley said, pulling Victor over. “Let me introduce you. This is Victor, the future…”

Olivia casually raised her eyebrows and nodded gently. “Nice to meet you.” However, the name Victor did seem somewhat familiar.
“Well, it is a pleasure to meet you.” Victor propped the side of his face with one hand, his gaze fixed on her. ‘Finally, I get to meet you, Olivia,‘ Victor thought.
“Victor, once you take office, you must exercise strict oversight. These people have bepletelywless,” Stanley continued indignantly.
“They arrest people indiscriminately, which shows just how terrifying this systemic corruption has be. They are recruiting anyone and everyone.”
“Not necessarily.” Olivia said nonchntly, “It is evident that they are targeting me.”
“Oh, Olivia, you don’t understand just how deep things run here.” Stanley kept talking endlessly, while Olivia was contemting Victor.
“The municipal party secretary who has not yet assumed office. He exudes a strong presence, as if he were dispatched by higher authorities to rectify the ethos in Hirica,‘ she thought.
Olivia had already more or less guessed the identity of Victor, but did not say more. The more she spoke, the more errors she might make.
