While the group was having a lively discussion, a sudden, forceful knocking sounded at the door.
Everyone assumed that the municipal party secretary had arrived, so they immediately fell silent and adopted their most respectful demeanor to wee the leader.
A girl of about sixteen opened the door. Her features were delicate, and her forehead was covered in sweat She scanned the crowd anxiously and said, “Sorry to bother you, I’m looking for Mr. Vale.”
The entire conference room was frighteningly quiet, with only the hum of the air conditioner echoing in the ears. After a brief period of silence, sound began to emerge.
“Is this our newly appointed Secretary? A woman? How can a woman serve as Secretary?” Someone blurted
out.
“Why can’t women be Secretary? Don’t discriminate.” Another whispered.
“But the problem is, this girl looks so young. Isn’t our municipal party secretary already over thirty?” Another guessed.
“I heard it’s a guy.” Another chimed in.
It was only then that Connor realized everyone had mistaken this young girl for Victor. He had met Victor before, and he knew for sure that Victor didn’t look anything like her.
Someone also asked Nina, “Are you our new leader?”
Nina hurriedly waved her hand. “No, that’s not it. I have an urgent matter and need to see Mr. Vale.”
“Youngdy, I am the person you are looking for.” Connor stood up and said, “What is the matter?”
Connor, having served in officialdom for many years, immediately recognized the courage in this young woman. Although she appeared delicate, her eyes conveyed resilience and bravery.
Even disregarding other factors, the mere fact that she was able to single–handedly make her way into this high–level meeting room demonstrates considerable courage.
Therefore, he was very willing to help this girl.
“Yes, it’s about this gentleman.” Nina showed Connor the video of Victor and carefully observed his expression.
Nina could tell that Victor possessed an extraordinary demeanor. Furthermore, Olivia had mentioned that the people around Stanley were all high–ranking officials.
Therefore, she extracted Victor’s face from the surveince footage and came to the administrative building again.
She was gambling. Betting on Victor’s identity was no simple matter.

“I see.” Connor nodded with a cheerful smile and said, “Why hasn’t Mr. Lang arrived yet? Has something dyed him on the way? Do you need me to send someone to pick him up?”
With a serious expression, Nina said, “Mr. Vale, do you know anyone at the Northside Precinct?”
“Of course I know,” Connor said with a broad smile. “What’s the matter? Could it be that Mr. Lang is going to inspect work there?”
Apart from conducting inspections, he genuinely could not conceive of any other reason.
Nina said with a serious expression, “Mr. Lang has been taken away by the police from Northside Precinct.” fn7d38 ???? ????s? ???????s ?? FindN0vel/fn7d38
In an instant, all presents were rendered motionless. Connor’s expression stiffened, and he could hardly believe his own ears. ‘Did Mr. Lang was arrested?‘ he thought.
“What did you say? Who was arrested?” Connor asked.
“Mr. Lang has been taken away by the police from Northside Precinct,” Nina repeated earnestly. “Mr. Saunders has also been detained. Please intervene and secure their release.”
“Who did you say was arrested?” Connor still could not believe it.
Nina frowned, “Mr. Vale, time is already very tight. Please stop confirming again; resolving the issue now is the top priority.”
