Marcus snarled, “You had Stanley arrested, and then, still not learning your lesson, you went and had the municipal party secretary detained. Are you deliberately trying to ruin me?

“I know you’re not J’s real mother, and you can’t be like a real mother, but I never imagined you could be this foolish.”

Fiona could not believe her ears. She knew Stanley, but she had no clue about the municipal party secretary. She thought, ‘Who the heck is it anyway? The one standing next to Olivia?‘

She stammered, “H–how is that possible? I never told Nn to arrest the municipal party secretary. How could I possibly dare?” She was so frightened that she trembled.

Marcus said, “The two men Nn brought in are the city Party secretary and Stanley. Fiona, how stupid could you get? I’m done, and you’re going down with me.”

What Marcus hated most was Fiona’s sheer stupidity–she’d let herself be caught without a fight. If she’d stayed free, he’d still have a shred of hope; he’d been counting on her to look after J.

Fiona muttered, “Impossible. How could the municipal party secretary and Stanley possibly go to a ce like that? Only poor people live there.”

Marcus said through gritted teeth, “You’re as dumb as a sack of bricks.” He grumbled inwardly, ‘Apparently, Victor and Stanley appeared there to conduct an incognito visit. Fiona, that fool, still cannot figure it out.

Victor did not conceal this matter; instead, he required them to issue a public announcement to disclose the facts.

He said, “These personnel issues reflect our poor oversight, and we owe the public an apology. Concealing the facts would be the worst mistake.”

But before the announcement was issued, the matter had already spread.

Margaret still hadn’t grasped the gravity of the situation. She assumed Fiona had simply been taken in for a quick round of questioning and would soon be released. While waiting, she called Cheryl.

She said, “Cheryl, rest assured. I have arranged everything; this time, Olivia won’t be able to make aeback.”

Cheryly on her bed, idly flipping through thetest magazine with one hand. She replied, “Mom, you’re the best. But I heard Fiona was taken in. Is something wrong?”

Margaret said, “It’s nothing–her husband’s the district chief. Even if they hold her overnight, she’ll be out soon. Once this blows over, we’ll head to Kingtonelle.

“You’ll start sophomore year as a day student, so you cane home every night, and I’ll have dinner waiting.”

A wave of warmth filled Cheryl’s heart. She said, “Thank you, Mom.”

After enrolling at Kingtonelle University, Cheryl worried constantly about tuition–her foster parents in Magnolia Town would never help. She scraped together her freshman year’s fees and living costs with loans and part–time jobs.

Later, she realized she had transmigrated into a novel and knew every plot twist. When she presented the DNA report to the Sherman family, Margaret–though far from brilliant–was unreservedly affectionate.

Margaret said, “Stay at home and enjoy yourself for now, and start preparing for the designpetitioning up in the spring. I heard that the first–ce winner in thatpetition will have the chance to meet Gemini, so you must do your best.

“If you can win Gemini’s favor, you’ll be unstoppable in the design industry.”

Cheryl replied, “Got it,” and lowered her gaze. The magazine in her hands had fallen open to the Gemini productunch spread. Cheryl thought, ‘One day, I will undoubtedly surpass this Gemini and be the world’s top designer.’

In the Orion Hotel, Jenny, in pajamas, stood on the bed. She eximed, “What did you say? Olivia is in trouble?” fn2a8b Discover more novels at find·novel/fn2a8b

Tony nodded and said, “She has already resolved it.”

Jenny said, “Olivia’s incredible. But we can’t let this slide.” She speed–dialed Andrew and filled him in.

After learning what had happened, Andrew’s aura immediately turned cold.

Ethan could clearly sense the chill emanating from Andrew. He knew that someone was about to suffer misfortune.

Andrew was originally in the middle of a meeting when he suddenly received a call from Jenny. Fearing that something had happened to her, he immediately left a group of people to answer the phone.

Ethan wondered what Jenny had said to make Andrew’s expression grow increasingly cold.

After hanging up with Jenny, Andrew drummed his fingers on the desk. He thought, ‘They waited until I was gone to pick on Olivia–Hirica really is a ma for every kind of lowlife.’

Ethan forced himself to speak, “Mr. Shea, everyone is still waiting for you to start the meeting over there.”

Andrew rested his chin in his hand, contemting for a moment before he ordered, “Ethan, go call my grandfather.” He thought, ‘Grandpa’s the best choice–he’s got plenty of free time, and this’ll give him something useful to do.‘

Connor was so furious that he only felt better after swallowing some antihypertensive medication. He never expected his subordinates to be so brazen, and the deeper he dug, the more dirt kept surfacing.

Winston snapped, “Connor, I think your career as an official is finished. How have you been serving as mayor? If I hadn’t received word, I wouldn’t have known you were such a failure as mayor.”

Connor was puzzled, unable to understand what he might have done wrong to make Winston unhappy. He said, “Mr. Shea, please don’t be upset. What exactly is the matter?”

Winston said, “Are you truly unaware, or are you just pretending not to know? That Marcus under yourmand, a government official abusing his authority to frame my granddaughter–inw–what do you intend to do about it?”

Connor asked cautiously, “Who is your granddaughter–inw? I have never heard of her before.”

Winston demanded, “Don’t y dumb with me. I’m talking about Olivia, whom your subordinate had arrested.”
