CHAPTER 48: DEAL

We see that Adam is sitting in his apartment. It was late at night but the small room was brightly lit. At this time the manager Kim was sitting with him.

Kim was on the floor surrounded by papers and spreadsheets. He was working intensely his focus entirely on the documents spread out on Adam’s small coffee table.

Adam looked at him. "Do you know how late it has become?" he asked his voice a mixture of amusement and impatience. "And what are you doing at my apartment at this hour?"

The manager who was sitting on the floor and writing many things on the table looked up. He had dark circles under his eyes but his expression was energized.

"This is my compulsion," he said with a sigh.

"What can I do? I need your help in this. The numbers are big Adam. Very big."

After hearing this Adam got up. He went to his small kitchen and came back with a plate of leftover food. He put the plate on the table where the manager was working pushing aside a stack of legal documents.

"Tell me what’s the update?" he said.

Kim looked at the food gratefully. "Although in the beginning I was very surprised by your decision," he said between bites.

"When you gave such a big management post to a school kid, Smith. I thought you had gone crazy. But then I studied the structure that he has provided for the bank. The organizational chart. The business plan. The five-year growth strategy. And I can’t help but praise that boy. He is a very talented boy. A genius even."

Adam was not surprised. He looked at the manager. "I have received even more money," he said his voice calm. "And I am deciding that in the beginning I will push one billion dollars into the bank as initial capital."

The manager who was writing at this time immediately put his pencil aside. He moved back a little and said in great shock "One billion dollars? What nonsense are you talking about? Adam that’s an insane amount of money."

Adam looked at the manager. His expression was serious. "I want you to listen to me carefully Kim," he said.

The manager left his work and started looking at Adam carefully. He knew that Adam had changed his life in just a few days. A few days ago he had received a phone call from him. And Adam had told him to quit his job.

Although in the beginning the manager did not believe his words at all. But where he was sitting today he was enjoying his work very much. He felt alive again. He felt a sense of purpose.

But Adam always surprised him. He was a constant source of shock and awe.

"I want you to leave this work," Adam said his voice low and firm.

"Leave the work of the bank. Now you just leave all the bank-related planning to that boy Smith. He is more than capable. As for the recruitment of other staff that work will now be done by Andrew."

The manager was very surprised.

He immediately stood up from the floor. "What are you saying?" he asked his voice a little panicked. "Are you throwing me out of your dream? Am I not a part of this anymore?"

Adam waved his hand and told him to sit down. The manager calmed down a little after seeing this. But worry was clearly visible on his face.

"Listen to me carefully Kim," Adam said.

"I’m not throwing you out. I have a much more important task for you. I will give you some funds. A very large amount. And you have to go to a given location. Which I will not provide to you now but in a short time. After going there you have to buy that whole land. Quietly. And there you have to start an oil exploration operation."

The manager was even more surprised to hear this. "Oil exploration?" he asked his mind reeling. "What do you want to say?"

Adam slammed his hand on the table for emphasis. "Tomorrow," he said his voice now a low command. "You will go from here to our neighboring city Solo City. I will provide you with a map there. There is a massive oil reserve at a specific location in that city. A reserve that no one knows about. And we are going to claim it." The manager was very surprised to hear this.

Kim looked at Adam with wide eyes. "Do you have dreams or something, that tell you the future?" he asked his voice a mixture of awe and suspicion.

"Is that where all this is coming from? Is that why you are making so much money? If that’s the case you can tell me too. I also want to live a rich life." He was half-joking but only half.

Adam just looked at the manager. He gestured around his small bare apartment. "Look at my apartment Kim," he said his voice flat.

"And tell me do I look rich to you?" The manager looked around at the sparse furniture and the paint on the walls. He understood what Adam was saying.

"Listen to me carefully," Adam said again his voice now serious. "I have already made all the preparations."

A little while ago while coming on the train Adam had been very frustrated.

The encounter with Monty and her friends had left a bitter taste in his mouth. He needed a distraction. He needed to focus on his plan.

He opened the One-Click Billionaire app. He remembered the map.

He remembered that he had found an oil reserve next to his city in Solo City.

He knew that this was the smallest of the eight reserves he had discovered in his country. But it was enough for a start. It was more than enough.

Adam went to the recruit app in the store section of his One-Click Billionaire app. There he first looked for the person who owned this land. He needed to know who he was dealing with.
