One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 375 - 371: Igor's Escape Plan (Part 1)
Igor silently shared this idea with Kadi. He felt a bit like Kadi in that he didn't want to stay in this safe house.
Igor couldn't stand this sort of confinement. He needed fresh air, and he also needed to learn about the new things happening outside.
He felt he was meant to be an Adventurer. He couldn't just retreat so easily; he had to charge forward. There are no obstacles in this world I can't overcome; there's always a way through difficulties.
So, when encountering difficulties, he wasn't afraid at all and certainly wouldn't be pessimistic. He was cheerful and a bit foolish, and this mentality had gotten him through all sorts of environments.
I don't need to wait here; I need to go discover, to witness!
This was Igor's favorite saying, and he felt it was most appropriate here.
Igor looked at Kadi. He felt that when he told Kadi this idea, Kadi should have been very excited, even thrilled.
This kind of thing should be what Kadi has always dreamed of, right? Igor thought.
But Kadi just stared with his single eye wide open, not saying a word for a long time.
The lad seemed stunned. His wide eye and open mouth clearly expressed complete astonishment.
Could it be that he finds my proposal unbelievable? Igor secretly guessed. Seeing Kadi's expression, he felt somewhat smug.
He felt he had voiced what Kadi had always wanted to say, which was why Kadi was so surprised. Actually, this is just a normal reaction. Anyone would want to leave this place, right? This place is confined, boring, and dimly lit. No wonder it's called the Slumber Room; it's really only suitable for sleeping. Or it would be good for imprisoning people too.
After thinking all this, Igor looked at Kadi again. He believed that after so much time, Kadi should have reacted by now.
Whether it's joy or sorrow after the surprise, it should be showing. Time is ticking away; Kadi can't possibly maintain one expression for so long.
However, Igor was wrong.
Kadi was still wide-eyed, mouth open, not making a sound.
This simply doesn't make sense! Igor thought. But then again, these past few days, I've hardly encountered anything that made sense. You could even say everything I've encountered doesn't make sense. The concept of 'common sense' has been distant from me for a long time now. Perhaps the surprise I gave him was a bit too big, and he still needs some time to digest it. Igor could only console himself this way, as he couldn't think of any other suitable reason to explain Kadi's expression.
"Hey!" Igor waved his hand in front of Kadi, trying to snap the stunned Kadi out of it. I have no other way to awaken this one-eyed monster. To get this monster out of his astonishment, I can only try using external force. If necessary, I might even have to resort to appropriate violence.
"Uh..." Kadi came to his senses. The shadow from Igor's waving hand made Kadi involuntarily shudder. He didn't know exactly why this happened, but that wasn't important. What was important was that he had snapped out of his previous state of astonished stupor, which was a rare occurrence.
"What's wrong with you?" Igor asked.
"I don't know. It happens often. I don't know the specific reason," Kadi shook his head and said softly.
"This could be a psychological suggestion. You need to see a Wizard; let them treat you," Igor said with concern.
"The Wizard Yuga examined me before. He said it's congenital and cannot be treated with herbs," Kadi replied, rubbing his eye.
"Huh, so there is such a thing," Igor said, surprised.
"Yeah, there is. Every time I feel an incredible surprise, I become like this: staring blankly, at a loss, until someone has to snap me out of it."
"Huh, I was just speaking my mind. No need to get so worked up," Igor replied casually. "I don't like being cooped up in here either. The sky outside is always blue, and the world out there is always exciting." Kadi must have been astounded by my suggestion; that's why he reacted with such unbelievable surprise.
"No, no, no, Igor, you don't understand. I wasn't surprised because of your proposal. Your proposal is impossible."
Kadi's words almost made Igor choke. Impossible! What does that mean? Am I trapped here?
"What do you mean?" This time, it was Igor's turn to be stunned.
"'Impossible' means impossible!" Kadi felt he had expressed himself very clearly and didn't understand why Igor was still so dazed.
"I know the Great Mentor meant well by sending us to this so-called safe house, but this isn't what I want! I feel like this place will suffocate a person!" Igor was getting anxious and didn't control the volume of his voice. This isn't how I should be behaving.
"Shh, keep your voice down. They're still healing," Kadi promptly reminded him.
"Uh, sorry." Igor turned, bowed slightly to Joseph and the others, and apologized in a low voice.
"I know what you mean, but do you know why this place is called the Slumber Room?" Kadi asked in a low voice.
"Huh? Isn't it because this is where they punish you all? And wasn't it said to be constructed using the World Setting Technique?" Igor scratched his head, indicating this wasn't too hard to grasp.
"You're not wrong, but even if you know all that, so what? Don't we still have to obediently 'slumber' here?" Kadi didn't directly explain what the Slumber Room was. Instead, he indirectly informed Igor that they could only 'slumber' in this cave.
This place called the Slumber Room was actually just a cave. The cave didn't look special at all, yet this particular cave served as the safe house for the monsters of Guru Mountain.
It was quite ironic, come to think of it.
So Igor blurted out, "Isn't it just a cave? Is it that magical?"
After saying this, Igor looked around the cave again but still found nothing special.
"Take a closer look. Do you see an exit here?" Kadi asked. At this moment, he resembled a seasoned Scholar, meaningfully revealing the secrets of this place to Igor.
Igor did as Kadi said and surveyed the cave once more, but he truly found nothing.
He really couldn't find any exit or entrance in this cave.
"At first, I was just like you, thinking I could escape from this place. But later, it was proven I was wrong. I can only 'slumber' here."
As Kadi said this, his gaze became distant, as if lost in a profound memory.
"Once you enter a place like this, a Slumber Room like this, you can forget about getting out. Just obediently 'slumber' here."
Conserving one's strength and recuperating was actually a very good option, but Igor felt this wasn't the time for him to be hiding.
I'm going to be an Adventurer! How can I choose to rest here like an injured person?
