One Night Bride: Master Blackwood's Substitute Wife
Chapter 2: The Secret of the Jade Pendant
CHAPTER 2: CHAPTER 2: THE SECRET OF THE JADE PENDANT
Feeling tense, Ivy Kensington pushed him away: "Sorry, I don’t know you."
Then, she hurriedly ran away.
Sebastian Blackwood watched her departing figure, inexplicably recalling the image of "Dahlia Kensington" from their wedding night last night.
The next moment, he took out his phone and made a call: "Help me investigate someone."
Ivy Kensington ran to the classroom door; class had already started.
She had no choice but to sneak in through the back door, all bent over, and just as she found a seat, the voice of a man above rang out: "Student, you’re late for the first class."
This voice was really familiar, Sebastian Blackwood!
Ivy was mortified.
She suddenly remembered that because she didn’t have enough credits, she arbitrarily chose an elective course in finance, and Sebastian Blackwood was a visiting lecturer in the finance department at Veridia University, occasionally giving a class or two.
As luck would have it, this class happened to be taught by Sebastian Blackwood!
Ivy’s face flushed red, and she stood up, biting her lip.
On the podium, Sebastian squinted slightly, scrutinizing Ivy, with an even deeper meaning in his eyes.
"Name," he said.
Ivy had no choice but to answer truthfully: "Ivy Kensington."
Kensington?
Doubt deepened in Sebastian’s dark eyes.
Ivy was so nervous under his gaze that her heart was racing, and she didn’t dare to say another word.
The two classes went by just like that, and Ivy was about to breathe a sigh of relief when Tiffany Leighton ran over, giving her a thumbs up: "Ivy, you’re amazing; you dared to be late for his class."
Sebastian Blackwood wasn’t just a simple teacher; his role as the CEO of the Blackwood family was truly intimidating. Everyone scrambled to sit in the front row for his class.
Ivy gave her a look of annoyance: "Didn’t I bring you milk tea..."
Speaking of milk tea, Ivy thought about the stain on Sebastian’s clothes and felt a bit guilty.
But, Sebastian probably didn’t suspect her, right?
At this moment, in the hospital.
Dahlia Kensington finally woke up.
Anne Linden was both angry and heartbroken: "Why did you drink so much for no reason?"
Dahlia weakly asked, nervously, "Mom, what about my wedding night with Master Blackwood..."
"It’s done!" Anne said, "I had that little wench Ivy Kensington take your place and marry him instead."
"What?!"
Dahlia’s voice immediately rose.
How could Ivy take her place on her wedding night with Master Blackwood!
Anne couldn’t help but ask, "Tell me honestly, why did Master Blackwood take a liking to you?"
Anne wasn’t intentionally belittling her daughter, but the Kensington Family and the Blackwood Family were worlds apart.
The Kensington Family was, at most, middle class, while the Blackwood Family was truly a global aristocracy.
Dahlia felt guilty for two seconds, then clutched the jade pendant hanging around her neck.
Sebastian was willing to marry her because he discovered this jade pendant, which she had stolen from Ivy four years ago!
"Mom, don’t concern yourself with it. Anyway, it’s enough that Master Blackwood likes me."
Dahlia didn’t want to say more, cursing bitterly, "That wench Ivy, just wait until I’m well!"
On the other side.
Ivy finished her classes for the day and prepared to visit Ronnie at the hospital.
Just as she stepped out of the school gate, an eye-catching Maserati stopped in front of her.
"Ivy, let’s go on a date."
Justin Rhodes raised an eyebrow at her.
Ivy was a bit exasperated; Justin had been pursuing her for more than half a year, persistently, even after she told him she was pregnant out of wedlock and had a child.
"No, I’m going to see Ronnie."
"Then I’ll take you there,"
Justin offered eagerly.
Ivy pressed her lips together: "Young Master Rhodes, you don’t have to do this."
She and Justin were not from the same world.
Unexpectedly, Justin suddenly played the sympathy card, "Ivy, considering how long I’ve been chasing you, just help me out this time."
"Just a small favor, I swear I won’t bother you again after today."
Justin pleaded.
Ivy hesitated for a few seconds, furrowing her brow, then nodded.
If this favor could make Justin give up pursuing her, she was willing.
Then, she sent a message to the caregiver looking after Ronnie: "Please take care of Ronnie a bit longer."
Justin drove Ivy all the way back home.
"Mom, I’m back,"
He announced loudly, pulling Ivy inside with him.
Ivy was caught off guard, completely not expecting Justin to bring her home; it was obviously a family gathering tonight!
"Justin Rhodes, maybe I should leave first..."
Ivy wanted to run, but Justin stopped her: "Ivy, you promised to help, and you need to see it through to the end."
With that, he pulled Ivy to sit at the dining table.
Ivy felt totally uncomfortable, and someone from the Rhodes family arrived suddenly.
Justin quickly stood up, shouting outside, "Uncle! Why are you alone? Where’s Aunt?"
Sebastian Blackwood strode in and responded softly to him: "Dahlia has something to do."
Ivy’s mind went blank in an instant.
Sebastian Blackwood turned out to be Justin Rhodes’s uncle?
