One Night Bride: Master Blackwood's Substitute Wife
Chapter 4: Returning to the Bride’s Family
CHAPTER 4: CHAPTER 4: RETURNING TO THE BRIDE’S FAMILY
Justin’s mother and Justin also saw Ivy Kensington, and Justin’s mother immediately approached her.
"Dahlia, you didn’t come to dinner tonight. Sebastian said you were busy. So, Justin and I came over without informing you. You aren’t upset, are you?"
Ivy had just met with Justin’s mother that afternoon. Afraid that she might be discovered, she didn’t dare to speak, just shook her head.
Justin also walked over, staring at Ivy thoughtfully for a while, feeling that something was odd.
Ivy’s scalp prickled under his gaze, and just as she was contemplating an excuse to leave, an arm suddenly wrapped around her waist.
It was Sebastian Blackwood.
She instinctively turned to look. Sebastian pulled her into his arms slightly, saying, "Dahlia, this is my sister, and this is Justin. There’s no need to be nervous."
The Blackwood family had few descendants. In Sebastian’s generation, there were only a brother and sister.
Ivy nodded and called Justin’s mother ’Sister.’
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, his gaze shifting to Justin: "Won’t you call her Aunt?"
Justin: "..."
Feeling a vague sense of strangeness, he eventually obediently called her Aunt.
Ivy was so embarrassed by being called ’Aunt’ that her face turned red. Just then, Justin handed her a glass of water, which she failed to hold steady and spilled on her clothes.
"I’ll go upstairs to change clothes."
Finally finding an excuse, Ivy hurried away.
Back in the bridal chamber, Ivy took a deep breath twice; it had been too awkward just now.
After a moment, Ivy prepared to change her clothes, but the zipper was at her back, and she had a bit of trouble reaching it.
Struggling with it, a warm hand gripped her shoulder, and with a "zzz," the zipper was pulled down.
"Done."
Sebastian’s low, hoarse voice sounded.
Ivy instinctively clutched the falling clothes, feeling a bit flushed: "Why... why did you come up?"
Shouldn’t he be downstairs with Justin and the others?
Sebastian lowered his eyes to peer at the girl’s glowing white skin, still bearing the traces from the night before. His gaze darkened as he approached her, "Don’t you want me to keep you company a little more?"
The man’s intense, fiery presence was overwhelming, making Ivy suddenly feel a bit shy.
He was so assertive that it made her a bit nervous.
It seemed that Sebastian sensed her change in mood. He cupped her face, giving her lips a light peck: "Where did you go this afternoon?"
Ivy’s heart skipped a beat heavily.
Was he suspecting her?
Feigning drowsiness, she yawned, "I went shopping with a friend this afternoon. The sun was too harsh, so I went to my friend’s house to rest."
Hearing this, Sebastian simply responded with a grunt and asked no further.
Ivy wasn’t sure whether or not he believed her.
Afterward, three days passed quickly.
Soon it was time for the homecoming visit.
Sebastian had something to attend to temporarily, so Ivy returned to the Kensington family alone first.
"You little bitch, stealing my man, I’ll beat you to death!"
As soon as she walked in, Dahlia Kensington came at her like a madwoman, raising her hand to slap her face.
Ivy turned her face, dodging the hit.
"You dare to dodge?!"
Dahlia was utterly furious, especially when she saw the hickies on Ivy’s neck, her eyes turned red.
"You brought this on yourself."
Ivy said calmly, pushing Dahlia aside.
Dahlia had just been discharged from the hospital, her body not yet strong, so with that push, she fell to the ground.
"Slap!"
The sound of a sudden slap echoed, leaving Anne Linden glaring fiercely at Ivy, cursing angrily: "Three days away, and you’ve turned rebellious!"
This unexpected slap caught Ivy off guard. She covered her face and raised her eyes somewhat embarrassingly.
Her father, Stanley Kensington, just sat on the sofa watching the drama unfold, saying nothing.
Inside, Ivy felt as if there was a hole, letting cold air rush in painfully, making her eyes a bit sore.
