One Night Bride: Master Blackwood's Substitute Wife
Chapter 5: Slandering Ivy Kensington
CHAPTER 5: CHAPTER 5: SLANDERING IVY KENSINGTON
Stanley Kensington is a scoundrel. Ivy Kensington’s mother was considered one of the top socialites in Veridia, but she was completely taken in by him. Just one year after their marriage, Stanley Kensington had an affair.
After that, Dahlia Kensington was born, and Anne Linden boldly moved in, proclaiming that she was the true mistress of the Kensington Family.
Ivy’s mother had a gentle disposition and couldn’t match their shamelessness. Under pressure, she jumped off a building and killed herself when Ivy was only six months old.
Ivy Kensington had a hard time growing up in the Kensington Family. For all these years, they treated her like a servant, either beating her or cursing at her.
And Stanley Kensington always watched coldly from the sidelines.
After all, she was his daughter too, wasn’t she?
Ivy Kensington squeezed her eyes shut, suppressing all her emotions and walked towards her small room without paying attention to anyone.
"Mom, look at her!"
Dahlia Kensington was still not satisfied. Anne Linden patted her hand, comforting her, saying, "Why bother with her? Master Blackwood is coming over soon; that’s what’s important!"
Dahlia Kensington grudgingly swallowed her anger and deliberately changed into a new outfit to wait for Sebastian Blackwood.
Sebastian Blackwood arrived close to noon.
As soon as he walked in the door, Dahlia Kensington’s eyes lit up.
This is her man!
Whether in appearance, temperament, or background and power, he’s the best!
Dahlia Kensington felt a surge of joy and ran over to tightly grab Sebastian Blackwood’s arm: "Sebastian, you finally came. I’ve been waiting for you forever!"
Sebastian Blackwood instinctively frowned as a strange feeling crossed his mind.
The Dahlia Kensington in front of him seemed different from the "Dahlia Kensington" of the past three days.
"Sebastian, what are you thinking about?"
Dahlia Kensington shook his arm, pouting and acting coy.
Sebastian Blackwood snapped back to reality, pushed her hand away, and slightly curled his lips: "Nothing."
Meanwhile, upstairs.
Ivy Kensington kneeled on the floor, staring blankly at the Peace Locket in her hand.
This is the only thing her mother left her.
Over the years, whenever she felt troubled, she would take it out to look at it.
"Mom, I feel a bit wronged."
Ivy Kensington murmured, her eyes slightly red.
Dahlia Kensington was so arrogant and domineering because she had Anne Linden, who always protected her. Sometimes, Ivy actually envied Dahlia Kensington.
"Are you slacking off again? The master has arrived, and everyone is busy. How dare you stay here? Hurry up and go help in the kitchen!"
At this moment, Housekeeper Wang angrily ran up and started scolding Ivy Kensington.
Ivy Kensington was used to scenes like this. She put away the Peace Locket and went downstairs to the kitchen without saying a word.
"Kensington Family only has one young lady, Dahlia. You’re destined to be a slave!"
Housekeeper Wang spat behind her back.
In the kitchen, the chicken soup was just ready, and a servant handed it directly to Ivy Kensington, ordering, "Take it out, quickly!"
Ivy Kensington frowned tightly, as the scorching heat seared through her fingers. She gritted her teeth and walked swiftly out.
Whether intentionally or not, Housekeeper Wang just happened to walk by and bumped into her, spilling the chicken soup everywhere.
"You, Ivy Kensington! You deliberately knocked over the soup bowl; you don’t want to work properly, do you?"
Housekeeper Wang immediately started cursing.
The servants all gathered around, pointing and gossiping: "It’s obvious she did it on purpose. Maybe she did it to attract the master’s attention. How scheming!"
Ivy Kensington spoke up: "You bumped into me intentionally."
"You..." Housekeeper Wang didn’t expect her to be so direct, feeling a bit guilty.
Dahlia Kensington approached: "Ivy Kensington, how can you not realize your mistake? Quickly apologize!"
Ivy Kensington raised her eyes and saw Sebastian Blackwood coming along.
The man saw her and his eyebrows knitted instantly, seemingly wondering why he would see her here.
Ivy Kensington inexplicably felt humiliated and stubbornly said, "It was Housekeeper Wang who bumped into me on purpose."
"Miss, she’s slandering me!"
Housekeeper Wang insisted it wasn’t her fault, anyway, it was Dahlia Kensington who had instructed her.
Dahlia Kensington clung to Sebastian Blackwood’s arm, saying headache-inducing things: "This is my family’s servant. She’s always been so troublesome. If it weren’t for her having a poor daughter, I wouldn’t keep her."
"And Sebastian, you don’t know how excessive she usually is, always bringing men back, no matter how many times I tell her, she won’t listen."
