Chapter 39 39 – A Reasonable Explanation

Originally, Lance intended to find some high-ranking members of the town to squeeze out intel on Jack the Drought's whereabouts.

But after witnessing the sheer wealth and splendor of Kokapiro Town, he changed his mind.

This place wasn't just a town—it was a miniature city with immense earning potential. Despite its size, it had everything: casinos, brothels, bars, and clubs. Controlling this town meant becoming rich in your sleep.

Soon, Lance stopped in front of a massive casino.

Flashing lights lit up the sign: "Paradise Club." The towering doors, colorful decor, and luxurious presentation all screamed opulence and class.

The moment he stepped inside, the deafening roar of the crowd flooded his ears. The grand hall was packed with people and games of all kinds.

It felt like walking into Las Vegas itself.

"HAHAHA! I WON!!"

"Damn it! The house won again?!"

"Spin it again! C'mon, spin!!"

Lance moved through the crowd with Rebecca and Baby-5 behind him. Shouts rang out from every corner—excited, angry, joyful, desperate, and defeated.

"Good evening, sir. Would you like to purchase chips? If you exchange a large sum, we offer complimentary rooms and… special services~."

A bunny girl in a skimpy outfit approached, smiling sweetly with suggestive eyes.

"No need for chips. Just call your boss."

Lance lit a cigarette.

"Of course, sir. But I must remind you—smoking isn't allowed here."

She smiled politely.

"Oh? That rule's about to change."

Lance replied coldly.

Sensing something dangerous, the bunny girl quickly left to summon the casino manager.

"Hey babe! You're hot. Come with me, I'll tip you well."

A fat man covered in gold—grillz on his teeth, chunky gold chain, and rings on every finger—approached Baby-5, thinking she was a casino girl. He tossed a wad of cash and licked his lips.

"Filthy pig. Back off or I'll shoot a hole in your head."

Baby-5 snapped, her hand transforming into a pistol aimed right at his face.

The fat man nearly pissed himself but didn't give up. Trembling, he pointed at her.

"Y-You're dead! Just some cheap maid girl pulling a gun on me? You're finished!"

The words barely left his mouth when a cold gleam flashed.

Shk!

A deep gash opened across his chest. Blood sprayed, and the man collapsed into a pool of it.

"Lance…"

Baby-5 looked at him with watery eyes as he slowly sheathed his blade. "I knew it… you do love me!"

"Don't be stupid. I just didn't want to hear that idiot yapping in my ear."

Lance blew out a puff of smoke.

"AAAAHHHHH!!!"

"MURDER!!"

The two casino girls with the fat man screamed and ran for their lives.

"You've got balls, killing someone in this town!"

"You must have a death wish!"

"You know whose turf this is?!"

Security thugs flooded the floor, surrounding the trio like wolves. Rebecca drew her sword, tense and ready. Baby-5 looked entirely unfazed—she could handle these low-level punks in her sleep.

"Boss Yuki Kuma is here!"

"Yuki Kuma-sama!"

The crowd parted, revealing a burly man in a sleek black suit, sunglasses on his face and menace in his walk.

"You three killed someone in my casino?"

Yuki Kuma took off his shades and squinted at them.

"So what if we did?"

Baby-5 snapped back.

"You're the ones who called me over, right?"

His eyes shifted from the girls to the silent man smoking between them.

"You're clearly the strongest one."

"You're lucky I'm in a good mood today. I won't start a bloodbath over this. I'll forgive your ignorance… but only if you give me a good enough explanation."

"You come in here demanding the manager and kill one of my guests without reason? If you can't justify it… you're not leaving."

One of his men brought him a chair, and Yuki Kuma sat down, legs crossed, ready to be grovelled to.

"A reasonable explanation?"

Lance walked forward and flicked his cigarette—straight onto Yuki Kuma's forehead.

The mob boss's face twisted in rage as he moved to block—only to freeze in horror. His strength, the pride of his body, meant nothing. He couldn't even resist as Lance pushed the burning tip into his skin and twisted.

"Does that explanation work for you?"

Lance said coldly.

Behind him, six IBM shadows rose, claws gleaming, already eager to reap souls.
