Blackbeard, rather than fighting Ace head-on, tried to persuade him to join his crew.

"Teach," Ace began, "I’m giving you a chance. Come back with me to see Pops. You might just get to live. If you resist, I’ll make sure you die here!"

Ace knew "Teach" would never agree. In his parallel world, Ace had foreknowledge of Blackbeard’s every move and ambition. He knew Blackbeard’s grand plans meant he’d never give them up. That’s why Ace spoke with such conviction.

What truly surprised Ace, however, was Blackbeard falling silent, seemingly deep in thought, as if genuinely considering Ace’s offer to return to Whitebeard.

Could it be... that the Teach of this world is different? Ace wondered, a flicker of confusion crossing his face.

Just as Ace’s mind reeled, Blackbeard spoke, his voice low, "Alright! I’ll go with you."

Immediately, Burgess bristled. "Captain, we cornered this guy together! Why should we follow him?"

Van Augur, ever the calmest, simply glanced at Burgess, then began to meticulously wipe down his rifle. Doc Q lay slumped on Stronger, looking as if death’s door was imminent. Laffitte, meanwhile, seemed lost in his own world, idly twirling his cane.

"Alright, Ace, lead the way!" Blackbeard declared, rising from the ground. "I’ll go back and explain everything to Pops!"

Ace stared at Blackbeard for a moment, then a knowing smile played on his lips. Teach is still Teach, he thought. No matter the world, he’s always this despicable and shameless.

Ace had already pieced together Blackbeard’s true intentions: he was just waiting for Ace to drop his guard before launching a surprise attack. Blackbeard was the type of man who’d do whatever it took to achieve his goals; if he could defeat Ace with a sneak attack, there was no need for a direct confrontation.

The instant Ace turned to leave, Blackbeard moved. A diamond-clawed fist blade materialized in his hand, plunging directly into the Whitebeard pirate mark on Ace’s back. The blow went straight through Ace’s chest.

"Zehahahahaha! Ace, you’re still so naive! My goal is to stand at the pinnacle! How could I possibly go back and remain Whitebeard’s son?" Blackbeard cackled.

Blue liquid, not blood, oozed from the gaping wound in Ace’s back. Blackbeard’s triumphant grin faltered. He knew Ace possessed the Logia-type Mera Mera no Mi (Flame-Flame Fruit) and that his attack had been imbued with Haki, yet he never expected to see this strange blue substance instead of blood.

"Oh? You want to stand at the pinnacle? I don’t think you have the guts for that!" Ace retorted, his head spinning an impossible 180 degrees to fix Blackbeard with an unnerving stare.

Blackbeard recoiled, putting distance between himself and Ace, then looked towards Van Augur. Van Augur, seemingly prepared, raised his gun and fired a shot directly at Ace’s head. The bullet pierced Ace’s skull, yet still no blood splattered. When his head exploded, more of the same blue, jelly-like liquid oozed out.

"Is this... Sabo Sabo no Mi’s awakening?" Blackbeard muttered, his face contorted in disbelief.

But his composure quickly returned. He remembered that no Devil Fruit power was effective against him; his Yami Yami no Mi (Dark-Dark Fruit) could directly nullify any Devil Fruit ability. He was certain Ace didn’t know this, and he planned to exploit this intelligence advantage for another surprise attack. This time... I’ll definitely take Ace out.

Onlookers, drawn by the unfolding confrontation, didn’t scatter. This was Demon Valley Town, where pirate brawls were a daily occurrence. If someone got caught in the crossfire, it was simply a sign of their weakness. No one was to blame.

However, the battle that followed soon made even the most hardened spectators uneasy.

Ace’s gelatinous body reformed completely in the blink of an eye. Then, an orange glow enveloped him, rapidly transforming into a torrent of flames. In an instant, with Ace at the epicenter, everything within dozens of meters erupted into an inferno. This included many of the curious bystanders.

Those with some strength realized the danger and began to retreat, understanding that this was no ordinary fight to witness. The weak, however, those too slow to even run, were swiftly consumed by Ace’s fiery wrath.

"Great Flame Ring of Emperor Yan!"

As the flames surged outwards, the Blackbeard Pirates instantly retreated. Only Burgess, ever the brute, grabbed a wooden house and hurled it at Ace. The moment the makeshift projectile hit the flames, it was incinerated into ash, the resulting explosion sending Burgess flying.

"Such scorching flames! How did Ace get this strong?" Blackbeard, now a hundred meters away, wiped sweat from his brow.

"Leave Ace to me. The rest of you, stand down! He’s not someone you can handle right now!" Blackbeard commanded, dark energy coiling around him like smoke.

Seeing this, Van Augur and the others immediately pulled back. They knew their captain was about to unleash a devastating technique.

As they retreated, Blackbeard pressed his hands to the ground. Dark energy spread outwards from him, rapidly engulfing the entirety of Demon Valley Town and the pirates who hadn’t managed to escape. This single, sweeping attack leveled Demon Valley Town, turning it into a barren plain.

Just as the encroaching darkness threatened to consume Ace, he unleashed his own ultimate power. Ace wasn’t just a user of the Mera Mera no Mi; he was also a Dragon Slayer Mage. As he unleashed his full might, dragon scales began to appear on his skin, and the faint outlines of Western dragon wings materialized behind him. Even Ace’s eyes shifted, becoming vertical slits.

The already scorching flames intensified even further with his Dragon Slayer Magic, shifting from orange to a brilliant, terrifying red. The ground beneath his feet began to melt, transforming into bubbling lava.

Blackbeard had expected his Dark Vortex to swallow Ace’s flames, but for some inexplicable reason, Ace’s flames suddenly became incredibly hot and began to consume Blackbeard’s dark energy instead.

Blackbeard’s usual strategy against powerful Devil Fruit users was to first use Dark Vortex to wear them down. Especially against Logia users, the Dark Vortex could continuously absorb their released power, draining their stamina.

Once the opponent was fatigued, Blackbeard would switch to Dark Water, directly grab them, nullify their Devil Fruit ability, and then finish them off. This routine had been rehearsed thousands of times in his mind, even before he’d consumed the Yami Yami no Mi.

But now, this meticulously planned tactic was failing on its very first attempt. He hadn’t anticipated such incredible mastery of the Mera Mera no Mi from Ace! With the Dark Vortex proving ineffective, Blackbeard didn’t press the attack; instead, he unleashed all the dark energy he had previously absorbed.
