"Ace knew exactly what tricks Teach would pull; he’d faced them before. He’d even anticipated how to counter him. He was certain Teach would use Dark Water to drag him in for a devastating blow.
Just as the thought crossed Ace’s mind, he felt his body being uncontrollably pulled towards Teach. "As expected!" A smirk touched Ace’s lips as Teach grabbed his neck, intending to nullify both of his Devil Fruit abilities.
"Ace... you’re strong! But... my Dark-Dark Fruit is even stronger..."
Before Teach
could finish his sentence, he sensed something was off. Ace was grinning at him as if he were an idiot.
"What are you laughing at, Zehahahaha?" Teach growled.
"I’m laughing because you won’t kill me!" Ace retorted. "I bet you’re planning to hand me over to the Marines and expose my lineage. Then, the World Government will undoubtedly make my execution public. And what happens then? My pops, Whitebeard, will surely come to save me!"
"At that point, you can exploit the chaos within the Marines to infiltrate Impel Down and recruit those notorious criminals from Level 6 to join your crew!"
"You know Whitebeard will fall and die. You’ll take advantage of my pops’ death to steal his Tremor-Tremor Fruit and become the world’s first user of two Devil Fruits!"
Ace brazenly recounted the information he’d gleaned from Luffy in the parallel world. This was, in essence, Marshall D. Teach’s, also known as Blackbeard’s, entire grand scheme.
Upon hearing Ace’s words, Blackbeard stared at him in utter disbelief. "You... how do you know my plan, Zehahahaha?"
Blackbeard was genuinely panicking. He had never breathed a word of his scheme to anyone, not even his own crew. Yet, Ace, standing before him, was describing it with unsettling accuracy. What unsettled him even more was that he wasn’t even sure if his full plan would succeed!
His original intention was simply to capture a random pirate, acquire a Warlord of the Sea position, and then use that status to sneak into Impel Down. Capturing Ace, delivering him to the Marines, revealing Ace’s lineage, and provoking a war with Whitebeard—these were all fresh ideas he had just conceived.
"Could it be that... Ace can read minds, Zehahahaha?"
At this moment, Ace understood what it meant to have the upper hand.
"Alright... your plan is perfect, but what a shame!"
As he spoke, Ace gripped Blackbeard’s wrist with one hand, his skin once again covered in crimson dragon scales. Empowered by the dragon’s might, Ace tightened his grip on Blackbeard’s wrist and snapped it.
"It hurts... it hurts... you’re hurting me so much, Zehahahahaha!"
Feeling the excruciating pain from his wrist, Blackbeard’s body began to tremble uncontrollably.
"Gahahahaha... The Dark-Dark Fruit must be causing you a lot of pain! But that’s not enough!"
Ace craved revenge. He wanted to avenge himself and his father from the other world. He had even considered staying in that parallel world for a few more days to settle the score with that world’s Blackbeard. However, he knew that the Blackbeard of that world was meant for Luffy and him in the other reality to defeat. Therefore, Ace could only unleash his fury on the despicable Blackbeard before him!
By now, Blackbeard’s inner defenses had completely crumbled. This wasn’t because he had underestimated Ace’s strength, but because Ace knew him far too well. He had spent decades hiding within the Whitebeard Pirates, his thoughts, strength, and ambitions concealed from everyone. Blackbeard didn’t even have a bounty; he had always hidden in the shadows of Whitebeard and his division commanders.
Just as Blackbeard was teetering on the edge of madness, he suddenly felt a searing pain in his backside. The agony, magnified several times by the Dark-Dark Fruit’s effects, made his body convulse. He spun around to see Van Augur aiming his rifle at him.
Seeing this, Blackbeard managed a twisted smile. "Zehahahahaha... So that’s it! It seems you’re right, Ace, I’m not strong enough!"
"So what if you found out about the plan? Can you stop it, Zehahahahaha?"
With that, Blackbeard raised his recovered arm and unleashed Dark Water once more. As long as his opponent was a Devil Fruit user, Blackbeard was confident he could capture them!
Gravity again pulled at Ace. But this time, Ace didn’t give Blackbeard the chance to choke him. While his Devil Fruit might be nullified, he could still wield his Dragon Slayer Magic.
"Fire Dragon’s Iron Fist!" "Fire Dragon’s Claw!" "Fire Dragon’s Wing Attack!" "Fire Dragon’s..."
A devastating combo of Dragon Slayer Magic struck Blackbeard, leaving him sprawled on the ground, unable to rise. Many parts of his body were disfigured and burned. Observing Blackbeard’s twitching facial expression, Ace knew he was enduring unimaginable pain.
"I clearly sealed his Devil Fruit ability, so why... can he still release flames, Zehahahahaha?" Blackbeard was utterly perplexed.
"Blackbeard, I gave you a chance..."
As he spoke, Ace approached Blackbeard, his arm transforming into a blade, ready to finish him off. Just then, a bullet whizzed towards Ace; Van Augur had attacked again.
Ace raised his hand to deflect the bullets. Then, Doc Q hurled several poison gas bombs in their direction, while Jesus Burgess inexplicably lifted a massive boulder and hurled it at Ace.
Before the poisonous gas could even reach Ace, it was vaporized by the flames swirling around him, and the boulder was shattered by a single punch. Seeing these seemingly weaker members of Blackbeard’s crew still trying to intervene, Ace’s eyes narrowed and he unleashed his Conqueror’s Haki, stunning everyone present. Although it wasn’t enough to knock them out, it left them momentarily dazed.
Seizing their moment of confusion, Ace created several clones and attacked multiple targets simultaneously.
Clone No. 1, with a Ryuo-infused punch, struck Burgess in the head, instantly turning his small brain into pulp.
Clone No. 2 transformed into a giant, fiery slime, engulfing Doc Q and his sturdy horse, making them understand the true meaning of burning agony.
Clone No. 3, with a roar of the Fire Dragon, incinerated Van Augur until nothing but ash remained.
Only Laffitte had no intention of rescuing Blackbeard. Seeing the dire situation, he had already fled. Ace attempted to stop him, even firing a musket shot, but unfortunately, he missed.
After dealing with Blackbeard’s crew, Ace’s attention returned to Blackbeard. By this point, Blackbeard’s injuries were almost healed, thanks to the distraction his crew had provided. After Blackbeard stood up, he looked in the direction Lafitte had fled and murmured to himself, "It’s up to you, Laffitte!"
