CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 89: DO BETTER AUTHOR
The trio blinked in unison at the sheer number of gifts stacked behind the carriage. Serin’s mouth fell open slightly. "I... I didn’t expect this many..."
Vanadis let out a low whistle, shaking his head. "Looks like Master didn’t just bring back a few trinkets. This is... a small fortune."
Odysseus tilted his head, one eyebrow raised, though a small, amused smile tugged at his lips. "Master certainly has a way of complicating things. Still, I suppose it’s better than arriving empty-handed."
-_-
Meical chuckled as they entered inside the house.
There, there was line of workers, in bows. In unison they started.
"We are all relieved to have you back with us Madame, and are glad you had a safe return.."
Narelle stepped out with a smile "Master, madame, I’m glad you’re back. I’ll have you know, Odysseuss and I, worked together to make sure the estate ran smoothly. We had no issues.."
Meical nodded "Thank you, it’s always a relief to have you around.."
Min-jae also smilled at Narelle, he wasn’t expecting such a warm reception.
Greya also appeared, adjusting her apron with a warm smile. She bowed "Welcome back Madame. I will create a big feast in your honor!"
Min-jae smiled, though he wasn’t sure if he could eat. Alot’s been going on.
The room was quiet except for the soft rustle of wrapping and the occasional shuffle of footsteps as the maids arranged the gifts.
The air smelled faintly of silk and rare spices, mingling with the lingering warmth of the afternoon sun that spilled through the tall windows. Min-jae sank onto the edge of the bed, finally allowing himself to breathe after the long journey.
Meical stepped closer, closing the door behind him. His eyes were calm, but Min-jae could sense the tension coiled beneath the surface. "Kaizar.." he said softly, "I’ll be busy for the next few days. There’s work that needs handling immediately. I don’t want you leaving the estate until everything is settled."
Min-jae arched an eyebrow, looking at him with a mixture of exasperation and amusement. "You mean I’m in lockdown?" he asked, a faint smirk tugging at his lips.
Meical’s lips twitched in the corner, but he didn’t break his serious expression. "Essentially.." he said. "There are still people out there who would do you harm if they had the chance. After the scene at the gate, it’s not safe for you to wander outside."
Min-jae exhaled and ran a hand through his hair. He understood. The thought of being attacked or mugged or worse was unpleasant, and he trusted Meical’s judgment. "Fine." he said, voice quieter, tinged with resignation. "I’ll stay put... for now."
Meical reached for him, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. "Good. I’ll take care of everything. You don’t need to lift a finger. Just rest."
Min-jae let out a soft laugh, shaking his head. "You’re spoiling me, aren’t you?" he murmured, leaning back against the pillows.
His body ached from the journey, and from the events in Aldoria, but being here, in the safety of the estate, made the exhaustion bearable.
Meical smiled faintly and moved to sit beside him on the bed. His presence was steady, comforting, and Min-jae allowed himself to relax against it, even if just a little. "I just want you safe.." Meical said quietly. "Everything else can wait."
Min-jae reached out and tapped Meical’s hand with a faint grin. "I know. I trust you.."
-_-
"Well, that’s what I like to hear. You should trust your husband.."
-_-
Min-jae kicked off his boots, his feet felt hot, they needed some fresh air.
Min-jae stretched his legs out, letting the cool breeze drift over his feet. He sighed softly, finally allowing himself to relax.
Meical leaned closer with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Those feet look sore... perfect for a rub.m" he said, reaching for them.
Min-jae jerked his legs back. "No, it’s fine. Really, I don’t need—"
"Too late.." Meical interrupted, grabbing his ankles and starting to knead. He wrinkled his nose exaggeratedly, he did it so much it was hard for Min-jae to ignore it.
"What’s wrong?"
Meical shook his head, then stopped to pinch his nose."It’s nothing, just that your feet smell so bad.."
-_-
-_-
This bastard!
"I said you shouldn’t give me a massage, you insisted now you’re complaining. You should smell those stinky feet since you don’t listen. Humph!"
Meical laughed, as he patted Min-jae’s feet "It’s okay, I love your stinky feet too. It actually smells like roses.."
-_-
"Get out! Like I’d believe my ’stinky’ feet smell like roses..’
-_-
"Why not? It’s all in the mindset.."
-_-
Min-jae hissed, choosing to ignore Meical, still it felt nice having his legs massaged, he was even starting to feel sleepy.
"How long is it going to take you to clear the issue? It’s kind of boring being in here without nothing to do?"
-_-
Meical raised a brow as he stopped messaging.
"Don’t stop.."
-_-
Meical laughed slightly and then continued "And what is that you want, that will keep you interested? I’ll provide whatever you want.."
Min-jae sighed a long sigh, this wasn’t the 21st century, what exactly could pique his interest except books, gardening, maybe he could try cooking some modern day food.
"Don’t worry about it. Whenever I think of it I’ll tell you. For now, I do know I’m hungry and I want a huge piece of meat.."
He wouldn’t mind some noddles as well, but he doubted Greya knew how to make it.
Some spicy noodles and shredded beef with cheese?! These were one of the peak highlights that made his day in his original world.
"Alright then, shall we change our clothes and go get you that huge piece of meat you wanted my little porky?"
-_-
"I’ve told you to stop calling me that! Do that again and you’ll sleep outside tonight.."
They both turned to the sound of the door opening, only to see it was Punz.
Min-jae eyes widened, it’s been a while since he’d seen her.
She was barely getting any screentime!
Do better author!
"Punz, baby..you’ve expanded.."
