Chapter 363: LEGACY REBORN
CHAPTER 363: LEGACY REBORN
Dust and wind howled across the jagged plains near the shattered border of Eldoria. Ruins of long-forgotten watchtowers lay buried beneath ash and broken stone. The land reeked of ancient mana—a chaotic blend from the battles that had scarred the region in recent months.
Charlotte’s breaths were heavy as she sprinted ahead with Lila secured to her back, wrapped in a shield of compressed mana. Naena followed behind, her body weakened, but her spirit firm. They were so close now—their destination within reach.
Then—
Boom!
Two silhouettes descended from the skies, crashing with force that split the land beneath them.
Dust scattered violently.
From the center of the impact zone, two figures emerged: Aron and Selene—the Chaos Twins.
Their expressions were not smug this time but grimly resolute. Aron’s left hand was engulfed in blackened fire, while Selene’s eyes shone with silver spirals of destructive fate.
"You really thought that trick with the Ferocious Beast Den would fool us?" Selene’s voice was ice. "We’re not the Celestials. We’re not the Elves. We don’t fall for bait."
Charlotte skidded to a halt, placing Lila gently on the ground as she raised her guard. Neana appeared beside her, arms trembling as she summoned a barrier to protect them.
"We can’t fight them directly," Neana whispered, eyes flickering toward the unconscious Lila. "It seems like they’ve gotten even stronger..."
Aron took a step forward, and space cracked with it. "We don’t need to fight you," he said calmly. "Just hand over the girl. You’ve delayed fate long enough."
Charlotte’s eyes darted. Her options were vanishing fast.
Then, just as despair began to weigh on them—
A sudden burst of frost swept the field.
A glowing blue sigil bloomed beneath the Chaos Twins. Frost shot up in spirals, forcing them back as two new figures landed between the Twins and the women.
From the icy fog emerged a tall, elegant woman clad in a snowy-white battle dress, her blade carved of glacier ice. Her expression was calm, but her presence pierced like a blade of winter.
The Ice Jade Princess.
Beside her, a sturdily built young man slammed his spear into the ground, causing a quake. His aura was dense—like a mountain on the verge of erupting.
The Fleeting Spear.
Charlotte’s eyes widened in disbelief.
"You..." she breathed.
They didn’t look back. Their gazes were locked firmly on Aron and Selene. Then the Fleeting Spear suddenly asked a question which Charlotte knew immediately that it was for her.
"Are they really gone?"
Hearing this, Charlotte suddenly felt a sharp pain in her chest as her mood immediately dampened while she replied, "yes"
There was a moment of silence between them as Fleeting Spear clenched his fist tightly on his spear while the Ice Jade Princess suddenly had a drop of tears skid down the left side of her face.
After that, the Ice Jade Princess spoke softly as her gaze rested on the Chaos twins, "I can still remember vividly how you bastards humiliated us back then... but we’re not the same students you fought in Pacesetters Academy."
Fleeting Spear cracked his neck. "We’ve walked the harsh path of growth. We didn’t see how our masters die. In fact, we weren’t of much help at all over the destruction of this territory. But now, things will change for good."
His spear spun, letting out a resonant hum.
"Today," he said, planting a foot forward, "we stand as our masters legacy."
The Chaos Twins narrowed their eyes.
Aron’s smirk returned. "Interesting..."
Selene’s voice curled. "Then let’s see how long you can last this time."
The moment the Ice Jade Princess and the Fleeting Spear landed, time seemed to freeze.
Wind howled between them. Energy trembled across the broken earth. A faint line of blood trickled from Naena’s mouth as she has used her reserved qi energy to raise a shield for her and the other girls, but she held onto Lila tighter, eyes wide at the pressure these four exuded.
BOOM!!
Without warning, Fleeting Spear vanished—appearing behind Aron in a single pulse of explosive movement.
"Piercing Sundown."
His spear roared like thunder through the air, striking down like divine lightning. Aron twisted just in time, deflecting the attack with a palm coated in chaotic black mana—but the sheer force of the blow sent him crashing through three trees, his body carving a trench into the earth.
Selene’s eyes narrowed, her violet hair fluttering wildly.
"You dare?!"
But the Ice Jade Princess was already in motion.
"Heaven’s Quiet."
A swirl of icy mist surged from her delicate fingertips, instantly engulfing Selene in a glacial dome. The temperature plummeted. Snowflakes formed mid-air. The space around Selene cracked like breaking glass—frozen by spatial suppression and deep ice.
Selene growled and erupted in dark purple lightning, blasting the dome apart with raw void force.
"I’ll gut you for that!"
She launched forward, her twin void daggers spinning at impossible speed. But the Ice Jade Princess raised a single finger. A silver circle of runes appeared before her chest.
CLANG!
The daggers struck an invisible shield—one laced with hundreds of microscopic frost sigils that detonated outward in retaliation. Selene was flung back with her face bloodied, her shoulder scorched with frostbite.
Meanwhile, Aron had risen again, face twisted in rage. His Chaos Armor now shimmered with cracks.
"You’ve grown strong... but you’re still not—"
Fleeting Spear interrupted with a smirk. "Fast enough?"
He blurred again.
This time, ten afterimages of the Fleeting Spear struck simultaneously from every angle.
Aron roared, forming a spiked shell of chaos around his body, but the spear technique tore through it—one strike slicing his shoulder, another burying deep into his thigh. He fell to one knee, panting, before unleashing a massive repulsion blast that finally knocked Fleeting Spear away.
The impact sent a shockwave bursting through the forest, uprooting trees and splitting boulders. Naena shielded Lila and Charlotte with a trembling barrier, coughing blood from the strain.
"We can’t stay here!" Charlotte urged, watching the sky tremble.
"But..."
Charlotte stared at her. "They’ll hold them off. That’s why they came. What we need to do now is to get Lila to safety before things become more messy."
Naena clenched her fists, but finally nodded. She took off into the woods with Charlotte, carrying Lila as far from the battlefield as possible.
---
Selene, now with hair wild and expression twisted in fury, clapped her hands together.
"Twin Spiral Collapse!"
A pair of void vortexes surged up on both sides of the Ice Jade Princess, compressing time and space in a devastating attempt to swallow her whole.
But the Princess only closed her eyes. Frost covered her eyelashes.
"Mana Domain: Snowfall of the Forbidden Realm."
Thousands of glacial lotus petals bloomed from her outstretched hand, forming a cyclone of pure frost that devoured the collapsing void spirals in a single chilling pulse. Selene screamed in frustration as ice crawled up her arms.
"You’re insane!"
"No," the Princess replied softly. "I’m protecting someone precious."
Meanwhile, Fleeting Spear reappeared above Aron, spinning midair as his spear pulsed with golden-orange Qi.
"Divine Spear Arts: Severing Skyline."
He descended like a meteor, spear tip glowing with momentum.
BOOOOOOM!
Aron crossed both arms and roared as a final black shield formed. But it cracked instantly under the descending strike, and the explosion swallowed them both in a blinding flash of light.
When the dust settled—
Aron was flat on his back, barely breathing, blood seeping from his lips. His armor flickered and died.
Fleeting Spear landed, panting, one arm limp from the impact. He smiled faintly. "Still standing..."
Selene stood frozen in place, her body encased in an intricate sculpture of ice from the Princess’ final technique. Only her blinking eyes showed she was still alive.
The battlefield quieted.
And the Ice Jade Princess looked toward the horizon where Charlotte had disappeared—her expression softening.
"Go," she whispered under her breath. "Protect her."
----
Aron grunted, his face grim. Blood trickled down his lips from an earlier blow to his ribs. Selene stood beside him, her complacent demeanor now hardened and tense. Her left shoulder was coated in frost, partially numbed by the Ice Jade Princess’s relentless strikes and mana domain which she has now gotten out of albeit barely.
They were being overwhelmed.
"You’re slipping, Chaos Twin," Fleeting Spear smirked mid-sprint, suddenly vanishing from view.
Aron’s eyes widened—he vanished?!
A beat later, a crushing impact landed on Aron’s chest, sending him flying through a jagged stone cliff. Fleeting Spear didn’t even look as he pivoted to Selene next, who responded by raising a crescent barrier to block an oncoming flurry of ice daggers from the Ice Jade Princess.
Selene coughed violently. "Aron—we need to retreat!"
"No!" Aron roared, crawling from the crater, energy crackling wildly around him. "We can still—"
But another chilling gust slammed into him, freezing part of his arm.
The Ice Jade Princess descended with the calm of a falling snowflake, her blade humming low with condensed frost. Her eyes remained sharp, calm, merciless.
"Your arrogance blinded you," she said. "You underestimated what grief, time, and war can make of us."
Selene gritted her teeth. "Then let’s see if you can match despair."
She suddenly reached into the folds of her cloak and crushed a glimmering shard.
A surge of black energy sparked midair, and a circular portal began to tear reality open behind them. The rift swirled, its depths soaked in the eerie aura of Endless’s territory.
Aron scowled in fury. "This isn’t over!"
"You’re not running!" Fleeting Spear yelled, launching himself forward with his full speed.
The earth cracked beneath his feet. His spear twisted space itself as it pierced forward like a comet, aimed straight for Aron’s heart.
Selene shouted, throwing her body into the path, her void crescent deflecting the strike just enough to stagger it.
The spear sliced across her back, drawing a scream—but it gave Aron the moment he needed. He gripped her, dragged her into the portal.
The Ice Jade Princess hurled her final technique, an entire field of frozen crystal lotuses forming above them and crashing down like celestial wrath.
The portal sealed.
The Chaos Twins vanished into it just in time—though Selene’s blood splattered across the ground, left behind as the only proof of their narrow escape.
For a long breath, silence reigned.
Then Fleeting Spear clicked his tongue. "Damn it. That should’ve ended it."
The Ice Jade Princess lowered her blade. "They won’t be so lucky next time."
They turned.
Far in the distance, Charlotte and Neana were already across the threshold—safely within the borders of Eldoria. Lila still lay unconscious in Charlotte’s arms, her presence now secure within Human territory.
"Let’s go," said the Ice Jade Princess quietly, eyes still watching the spot where the portal had been. "There’s still much ahead. And war waits for no one."
