Chapter 235: Entering the Land of Confusion, Meeting Jack Again
CHAPTER 235: CHAPTER 235: ENTERING THE LAND OF CONFUSION, MEETING JACK AGAIN
Thick black mist swirled all around, giving off a strange, unsettling vibe. It was hard to see, and even spiritual sense couldn’t reach through it.
As soon as Johnnie touched the mist, he noticed something odd. It was a special kind of seal—not stopping living beings from going in or out, but cutting off the power between the Universe Continent and this place.
[Ding, you have entered the Land of Confusion]
The prompt messages flashed. Johnnie and Nalorin·Sylvia walked through the black mist one after the other. Suddenly, their view opened up—the mist faded away, revealing a dense forest. Deeper in the woods, they could spot Elemental Slimes jumping around from time to time.
"This black mist is really weird." Johnnie looked back at the mist behind them. It didn’t spread into the Universe Continent or the Land of Confusion—it just formed a zone like a barrier between the two places.
Nalorin·Sylvia scanned the area carefully. After making sure there was no danger, she asked, "Master, are you close to Lord Grayden?"
Johnnie shook his head. "No, I just finished some quests for him. Why do you ask?"
"There’s something off about Grayden." Nalorin·Sylvia hesitated, then added, "I sensed a faint evil aura on him. It feels a lot like the demonic energy sealed by my family."
Evil aura?
Johnnie was puzzled—he hadn’t noticed anything strange about Grayden. But Nalorin·Sylvia was a Divine powerhouse. She wouldn’t be wrong about this.
Stellar City was only a level 4 city, and Grayden wasn’t especially strong. It was odd that no other races or powers had taken over the place.
Besides, Maiev had mentioned earlier that there was a Divine powerhouse in the lake at the city governor’s mansion—someone who didn’t belong to this world.
Maybe the reason Stellar City hasn’t been taken over is because of that Domain-level being.
Could that Domain and the demon sealed by the Nalorin Family be from the same race?
Curious, Johnnie asked, "What kind of demon is sealed by your family?"
Nalorin·Sylvia shook her head. "I’m not sure. The place where it’s sealed is forbidden. Except for my grandfather, no one else dares to go there."
Johnnie frowned a little. If Grayden was working with a Domain-level being from a sealed race, there must be some big secret behind it.
But for now, saving Cecilia and finding Atlas and the others was more important.
He stopped thinking about it. Now that the Universe Continent’s power suppression was gone and Domain-level beings had appeared, even if other races tried to invade, it shouldn’t be a problem for a while.
A thought came to Johnnie, and he opened his friend list. As expected, everyone was greyed out—he couldn’t contact anyone outside.
Luckily, there was no spatial suppression here, so the Map of Heaven and Earth still worked.
The Map of Heaven and Earth was one of his strongest trump cards, and after merging fragments, its power was much greater. If he trapped a Domain-level being inside, he could handle it himself without needing Skye or the others.
"Wait, I can still log out!" Johnnie noticed the disconnect option was still available—he could log out at any time.
But Crysic said that after Atlas and the others entered the Land of Confusion, they lost contact and couldn’t log out either.
Maybe they’re trapped in a special space?
The Land of Confusion is dangerous and full of unknowns, so it’s possible.
If that’s really the case, it would be even harder to find Atlas and the others.
But since Cecilia was taken to Blade King City, maybe if he searched near there, he’d run into Atlas and his friends.
"Sylvia, do you know this place well? Do you know where Blade King City is?" he asked Nalorin·Sylvia.
This was Johnnie’s first time in the Land of Confusion, and he knew almost nothing about it. There was no information outside about this place, either.
Nalorin·Sylvia shook her head helplessly. "Master, this is my first time here too."
"Looks like we’ll have to catch a demon and ask." Johnnie muttered to himself. There were lots of demons in the Land of Confusion, so catching one shouldn’t be hard.
"Master, isn’t that too risky?" Nalorin·Sylvia looked worried. The Land of Confusion was dangerous and almost completely controlled by demons. Attacking one might cause more trouble.
She didn’t know why Johnnie had come here.
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing." Johnnie said, not explaining further. The demons had taken Cecilia, and he’d destroyed the Blade King statue. That was a big insult to a Domain-level being. Even if he didn’t act first, the demons wouldn’t let him go.
The two of them moved through the dense forest, killing wandering Slimes, but they didn’t find any demon powerhouses.
"Master, I hear fighting ahead." Nalorin·Sylvia suddenly said, stopping.
Johnnie heard it too. "Let’s go check it out."
They flew forward on their swords toward the sound of battle.
In the forest, a demon powerhouse was hunting Elemental Slimes.
"Huh, I know that guy." Johnnie said in surprise.
It was Jack—the same guy he’d met before at the Phoenix Ruins.
But Johnnie was surprised—he’d thrown Jack into magma last time. He didn’t expect Jack to escape, and not only survive, but his strength had grown a lot.
Now Jack was already at stage 8.
Right now, Jack was hunting Fire-Element Slimes. He was probably still looking for Fire-Spirit Stones.
"It’s you!" Jack noticed Johnnie too, and his face changed. He turned around and tried to run.
Johnnie just sneered, not bothering to say anything. He raised his hand, and a flash of icy light shot out.
Puff!
-1,275,000
With over a million damage, Jack was instantly killed.
But a second later, he revived on the spot.
The demon race had a special rule: after dying, they could revive right where they fell.
"Despicable human! You dare come into the Land of Confusion? This is our territory!" Jack shouted angrily, but he couldn’t hide the fear in his eyes.
Last time, he could crush Johnnie easily, but now—just one move, and he was instantly killed.
This human’s growth was terrifying!
"Hmph, you talk too much." Johnnie snorted. He raised his hand again, and another sword light shot over, instantly killing Jack once more.
"Bastard!" Jack revived again, cursing loudly. Then he pulled out a scroll and crushed it.
Space began to ripple—it wasn’t a space-lock scroll, but a teleportation scroll.
"Sylvia, stop him!" Johnnie called out quickly.
He had a space talent, but no way to lock space.
Nalorin·Sylvia was a Divine powerhouse, so she could easily block teleportation with her divine power.
As soon as Johnnie spoke, the whole area was frozen in place—Jack couldn’t teleport away.
"Divine powerhouse!" Jack saw Nalorin·Sylvia nearby and was terrified. He turned and tried to run again.
Buzz!
Another flash of icy light shot over and, unsurprisingly, Jack was instantly killed once more.
He revived again, his face pale and his heart full of despair. He glared angrily at Johnnie. "Human, what do you want from me?!"
Johnnie smiled a little and said, "Hey, we know each other. Isn’t this a bit rude for a reunion?"
Jack opened his mouth, but he was too angry to speak.
He was rude? Johnnie had just killed him three times in a row!
Gritting his teeth, Jack shouted, "Human, can you be any more shameless?!"
"Enough. I’ll take you somewhere." Johnnie didn’t want to waste time. With a thought, he activated the Map of Heaven and Earth, pulling Jack and Nalorin·Sylvia inside.
A powerful force sucked them in.
"Not good!" Jack’s face changed, but he couldn’t resist at all—he was pulled right into the Map of Heaven and Earth.
Nalorin·Sylvia was a bit wary, feeling a hint of danger. She instinctively used her divine power to resist the suction.
"Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you." Johnnie said, and brought her inside too.
"Is this the Map of Heaven and Earth?" Nalorin·Sylvia looked around in surprise.
The space here was very stable, almost like a complete world.
"You know a lot." Johnnie said, a bit surprised. Sylvia had recognized the Demon-Refining Pot before, and now the Map of Heaven and Earth—seems like the Nalorin Family knows quite a few secrets.
He didn’t ask more, just looked at Jack.
Right now, Jack looked terrified, like there was some horrible monster around. He kept throwing out fire skills as he ran around in a panic.
It was an illusion.
The illusion inside the Map of Heaven and Earth was still there, and after fusing two fragments, it had become even stronger. If someone stayed lost inside for too long, they might never get out.
Johnnie snapped his fingers, and the illusion around them vanished instantly.
"Huh?" Jack looked around as the world suddenly changed again. His back was soaked with sweat, and he still felt scared. "Was all of that just an illusion?"
Then he spotted Johnnie standing nearby and shouted angrily, "Human, this is your trick! Where is this place? Let me go!"
Jack was truly scared now. If he was in the Land of Confusion, he could at least call for help from other demon powerhouses.
But here, he couldn’t log out or contact anyone outside—this place was totally cut off.
Johnnie said calmly, "Acknowledge me as your master, and I’ll let you go."
"In your dreams! I’d rather die than call a human my master!" Jack yelled, full of pride and anger.
Johnnie just grinned, a little wickedly. "Heh, you won’t die that easily here." He snapped his fingers again, and the illusion returned.
Whoosh...
Jack’s world changed completely. Everything around him turned bloody red, with mountains of corpses and rivers of blood at his feet. It looked like a living hell.
All around were the souls of beings killed by the demon race.
"Damn demon race! You all deserve to go to the 18th level of hell! Give your life here!" Countless furious ghosts rushed toward Jack, claws out and faces twisted with rage.
Jack swallowed hard and took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm. He tried to act tough, "It’s just an illusion. You’re not scaring me."
But as the ghosts rushed at him, he still dodged without thinking.
Buzz!
The ghost passed right through his body, sending a chill through Jack’s heart and even his soul trembled a bit.
At that moment, he wasn’t sure if this was just an illusion or something real—he felt like these ghosts really could kill him.
