Chapter 255: Heading to Blade King City, Public Execution
CHAPTER 255: CHAPTER 255: HEADING TO BLADE KING CITY, PUBLIC EXECUTION
In half a day, Johnnie butchered nearly a million undead monsters. The Intensity of the Soul went up a lot, and his injuries fully healed.
After so much fighting, he felt a bit mentally tired.
"It’s time to go to Blade King City." He didn’t rest. With a thought, he summoned Jack and the others.
"Master, did you deal with that Light-and-Dark Slime?" Nalorin Sylvia looked around the undead cave and asked in confusion.
Johnnie nodded without saying more. He turned to Jack and ordered, "Lead the way to Blade King City."
"Yes." Jack answered at once, not daring to resist.
He had planned with Altair to attack Johnnie in Blade King City.
Altair was killed, but his Divine Soul still remained, so he must have told his father. They would be ready.
They moved fast through the forest.
This time, they didn’t go around killing monsters for no reason; they only acted when a few idiots jumped out to provoke them.
Blade King City sat at the edge of the jungle.
As they got closer, more Demon race experts showed up, along with strong fighters from other races.
Johnnie was puzzled. Most of them had entered the Land of Confusion to search for the Dragon Pulse. So why were they heading to Blade King City? Was the Dragon Pulse there?
"Master, could these people be here for you?" Nalorin Sylvia frowned.
Along the way, they ran into many strong people from other races, even some Domain-level ones.
Johnnie wasn’t sure. He gave Jack a hard look.
Before he could speak, Jack rushed to say, "Master, I don’t know what’s happening here. I’ve been trapped in the Map of Heaven and Earth the whole time, and I couldn’t contact my father."
Johnnie frowned. He was sure there was a plot in Blade King City aimed at him.
"Grab someone and ask." He locked onto a Demon race expert. Nalorin Sylvia moved at once and dragged the man over.
"Damn it! Who are you people, daring to act wild in the Land of Confusion!" The man was shocked and angry, struggling hard.
Smack!
Nalorin Sylvia slapped him, and he went quiet.
Johnnie said, "I ask, you answer. Why are so many of you heading to Blade King City?"
The man swallowed and didn’t dare lie. "News came a while ago. There’s a public execution today for a woman captured on the Universe Continent. We’re all going to watch."
Johnnie frowned and asked coldly, "What’s the woman’s name?"
"It seems to be Cecilia." the man blurted.
Johnnie’s face changed, worry flashing in his eyes. "Go!"
He quickened his pace toward the city ahead.
Nalorin Sylvia hesitated, then killed the Demon race expert with a wave and hurried to catch up. "Master, something’s off. The Demon race wouldn’t grab Cecilia for no reason, and they wouldn’t choose this timing to execute her publicly."
Hm?
Johnnie slowed down. His worry had clouded his mind, but now he realized it was strange.
The Demon race must have a purpose for taking Cecilia. If they meant to kill her, they wouldn’t have waited until now.
"You mean this is a trap for me?" Johnnie asked, frowning.
"Very likely." Nalorin Sylvia nodded. Both of them looked at Jack.
Jack hurried to say, "Master, I really don’t know anything."
Watching the growing number of experts gathering, Johnnie said, "Let’s go into the city and take a look. Don’t reveal our identities yet."
He pulled out a few large black hooded cloaks and handed them to Nalorin Sylvia and Jack. They put them on.
These were just normal items with no stat boosts, but they could hide one’s aura. Even Domain-level experts couldn’t easily see through them.
They entered the city without trouble. It was crowded and lively.
"Master, I forgot to remind you—my father can sense my aura." Jack suddenly said, as if he’d just remembered.
Hm?
Johnnie frowned, a flash of killing intent in his eyes. This guy was definitely doing it on purpose.
But he didn’t strike right away.
If he couldn’t save Cecilia, he planned to use Jack to trade for her.
"Hurry up. Blade King just announced they’ll execute that Cecilia, then reveal news about the Dragon Pulse!"
The crowd burst into noise, and many people rushed toward the square.
That was where they would publicly execute Cecilia.
Johnnie was even more sure this was a trap for him.
He had just entered the city, and they were already about to execute Cecilia. Clearly, they had sensed he was here.
"Master, what should we do?" Nalorin Sylvia also felt something was off and frowned.
"Go." Johnnie didn’t say more and moved with the crowd toward the square. Even knowing it was a trap, he had to act and save Cecilia.
A huge statue stood in the square, very similar to the one he destroyed in The Chinese City. It was the Blade King.
Johnnie didn’t care. His eyes locked on the temporary platform in the middle of the square.
Cecilia’s face was pale, her hair messy. She was tied to the platform and had clearly been tortured.
"Bastards!" Johnnie’s anger flared. He was about to act, but Nalorin Sylvia stopped him.
She whispered, "Master, don’t be rash. There are many Divine powerhouses here. Just beneath the platform there are six Half-Gods, and more Divine powerhouses are hiding in the crowd."
Johnnie forced down his fury, turned to Jack, and asked coldly, "Those Domain experts—who are they, and how strong are they?"
Jack looked at the platform. His eyes lit up, and he almost called for help, but he held it back.
He knew that with the soul contract in place, Johnnie could erase him with a thought. He had to find a way to break the soul contract first.
Not daring to anger Johnnie, he hurried to say, "The blond man in the center with the long blade on his back is Blade King, the lord of Blade King City. Next to him is my father, Crimson Flame God Weyldon. The woman holding the long zither should be the Celestial Maiden of Illusory Sound. I don’t know the others. These people are among the best of the Half-Gods."
Johnnie frowned. They had brought quite a lineup just to deal with him.
At that moment, Weyldon leaped onto the platform. A flaming long blade appeared in his hand. He looked around and said loudly, "I’m glad so many of you came. I’ll now announce this woman’s crimes and then carry out the public execution..."
"Crimson Flame God, stop wasting time. Kill her and tell us where the Dragon Pulse is." someone cut in.
"Yeah, we don’t care what she did. Just do it. If you can’t, I’ll do it for you."
Another voice shouted from below.
Johnnie’s face was cold. He pushed through the crowd to within a hundred meters of the platform, ready to summon Maiev and the others at any time.
Weyldon seemed pleased with the crowd’s reaction. He smiled slightly and said, "Since that’s what you want, I won’t waste words. I’ll do it now."
As he spoke, he raised the flaming blade.
Johnnie’s eyes turned icy. He summoned Seven Sword, ready to strike.
"Master, wait."
Coco’s voice sounded in his mind. "That woman isn’t Cecilia. She’s Aurora in disguise."
"What?" Johnnie couldn’t help blurting out. He put away Seven Sword and asked in his heart, "Coco, are you sure?"
"Sure." Coco replied firmly. "Aurora is the Illusionary God. She’s great at disguises. Even Domain-level experts can’t see through it. But I can sense her mental power. That woman is definitely Aurora."
Johnnie sneered inwardly.
So they were targeting him after all—even the bait was fake.
On the platform, Weyldon swung the long blade. Flames roared, and he looked ready to strike, but he still didn’t do it.
Johnnie relaxed and stayed hidden in the crowd, as if he were just there to watch the show.
"Master, what is it?" Nalorin Sylvia noticed the change in him and asked in a low voice.
Johnnie smiled a little, clearly more at ease. He whispered, "That’s not Cecilia. Let’s watch this guy perform."
"I see." Nalorin Sylvia said, realizing it too when she saw Weyldon boasting but still not making a move.
"What are you doing? It’s just one slash—what are you stalling for?" someone in the crowd complained.
"Do you think someone’s going to jump in and save her?"
"Weyldon, I’ve heard you’re a womanizer. Do you think she’s pretty and can’t bring yourself to do it? If you can’t, I can do it for you."
"Yeah, hurry up. Our time is valuable."
People below kept urging him on.
Weyldon looked a bit embarrassed. He glanced at the bound "Cecilia." exchanged a look with her, then made up his mind and swung the long blade down.
Swish!
A cold light flashed, and only a strand of hair fell.
Weyldon had been watching the crowd below the whole time, but nothing happened. He could sense Jack’s aura and was sure Johnnie was here.
So calm!
He grew angry—or maybe Johnnie just didn’t care whether this woman lived or died.
"Weyldon, are you messing with us? You can’t even hit from that close?"
"I don’t want to watch some execution. Tell us about the Dragon Pulse already!"
The crowd grew noisy, pressing him for the Dragon Pulse’s location.
"Shut up!" Weyldon barked. His Domain aura burst out, scaring the loud ones into silence.
He scanned the square and said coldly, "Human, I know you’re here. Are you really going to watch this woman lose her head right in front of you?"
Only then did the crowd understand.
Blade King City was making such a big show of this execution to target the person behind her.
"Weyldon, what do you mean? Do you actually know anything about the Dragon Pulse?"
Weyldon looked at the old man who spoke, gave a slight bow, and said, "Relax. As long as we draw out the one behind this woman, I’ll tell you where the Dragon Pulse is."
The crowd, doubtful, fell quiet and looked around for anyone suspicious.
Seeing that the plan was already exposed, Weyldon stopped hiding it and went on: "Human, even a tiger won’t harm its cub. This woman is carrying your child. Are you really going to abandon mother and child?"
