Chapter 266: Chasing the Unicorn, the Hundred Thousand Snow Mountains
CHAPTER 266: CHAPTER 266: CHASING THE UNICORN, THE HUNDRED THOUSAND SNOW MOUNTAINS
Johnnie needed a live unicorn to unlock his third class, so he didn’t want to kill it.
Maybe it had a way to purge the poison.
Whoosh
The wind howled. The unicorn, terrified, shot into the sky and fled in a panic.
"After it!" Johnnie called, and he and Nalorin Sylvia gave chase.
Drip...
Black blood kept falling from the air.
It seemed the unicorn had no way to cleanse the poison—or Seven Sword’s venom was just too vicious to dispel.
The bone-eroding toxin on Seven Sword was cast by a Divine powerhouse. It was poison-element law power, enough to threaten a Domain.
The unicorn was special, but it was only a Stage 9, Legendary monster. It had no way to remove it.
Johnnie grew worried. He didn’t want to end up killing it.
-27,750,000
...
Damage numbers flashed over the unicorn’s head. It was losing more than twenty million Health points per second.
Buzz!
A holy light flared around it, and its Health points shot back up.
It was a Holy Light healing skill, but it couldn’t cure the poison.
After being poisoned, the unicorn’s speed dropped a lot.
Johnnie and Nalorin Sylvia closed in.
"Master, should I strike? It’s already in my attack range!" Nalorin Sylvia asked. As a Divine powerhouse, she could Instant Kill this unicorn with ease.
"Don’t. We need it alive," Johnnie stopped her.
His third-class change quest was tied to the unicorn, so he definitely couldn’t kill it.
And unicorns were rare—he wasn’t sure he’d ever find another.
Neigh!
With a pained cry, the unicorn seemed to realize their plan. Its speed suddenly surged again as it tried to shake them off.
But injured, it was much weaker. The wound on its back had turned pitch-black, and the deadly poison was still spreading through its body.
The unicorn looked panicked. It could feel that if the poison spread through its whole body, it would die for sure.
Gritting its teeth, it raced deeper into the desert, as if something out there could cleanse the poison.
Johnnie and Nalorin Sylvia kept up the chase.
Dawn slowly broke. Without noticing, they had pursued it all night.
The unicorn was running out of strength. Its flight slowed again, and it was casting its Healing Spell far less often.
The morning sun rose.
Nalorin Sylvia glanced at the sun to their right and said, "Master, it looks like we’re heading north."
Johnnie noticed it too, but he couldn’t worry about that now. No matter what, he had to catch this unicorn alive.
Whoosh...
The wind howled, lifting walls of yellow sand—yet there was a biting chill mixed in.
"Why did it suddenly get so cold?" Nalorin Sylvia frowned. She cultivated ice and snow laws, so normal cold didn’t affect her.
But this wind was so sharp and bitter that even she struggled to endure it.
She peered into the distance and gasped, "Master, there’s a range of snowy mountains ahead!"
Johnnie saw it too: along the line where desert met sky, everything turned white—endless snow-covered peaks.
The unicorn was heading straight for them.
The Ten Thousand Snow Mountains—Pitiless’s home!
Johnnie realized the Blade King hadn’t been entirely right. Saying the Ten Thousand Snow Mountains were at the far west of the Land of Confusion wasn’t precise—the range was simply too vast.
Whoosh!
The cold wind roared. The unicorn seemed unaffected and darted through the gale.
Johnnie frowned as the chill cut through him. He felt like even his blood was freezing.
Bang!
Soon, the unicorn crossed into the mountains’ domain. Its badly wounded body finally gave out—it crashed into the snow, letting out a string of mournful cries.
Johnnie stiffened. Could this unicorn be connected to Pitiless?
Crunch, crunch...
They followed it into the snow. The bone-deep cold carried a killing intent. Johnnie felt his very soul tremble.
He tried to fly, but the suppression here was even stronger than in the desert—flying was impossible.
Whoosh!
Another icy gust, carrying a cool, clear woman’s voice: "Who dares harm Snowy!"
Hum...
The air before them shook, ripples spreading out. A woman suddenly appeared in front of the unicorn.
"A Core God powerhouse!" Nalorin Sylvia tensed and stepped in front of Johnnie.
The woman’s aura rolled like the sea, far beyond Lesser Gods and Half-Gods—clearly a Core God.
Pitiless.
Johnnie guessed who she was. His face grew solemn as he studied her.
The woman wore a white dress. Her long black hair fell to her waist. Her skin was like fresh snow, and her face was so beautiful it made your heart tremble. But the chill around her felt like it could freeze the soul.
What shocked him most was that she was barefoot. Her jade-like feet stepped lightly on the snow without leaving a trace.
It seemed the cold here didn’t affect her at all.
She ignored the two of them and walked to the unicorn. A pale blue light wrapped her palm. A cloud of black, bloody mist surged out of the unicorn’s wound and instantly froze.
In just a moment, the deadly poison was cleared. Its Health points rose fast, and its injuries healed.
Neigh!
The unicorn cried out and glared at Johnnie and Nalorin Sylvia.
The woman patted its neck to calm it, then slowly turned to face them. Her cold eyes showed no emotion, and even her voice carried a cutting chill. "You’re the ones who hurt my Snowy?"
Nalorin Sylvia swallowed. Her hand on her sword shook. Just one look from this woman filled her with a fear she had never felt before.
Nalorin was the Ancestor of the Nalorin Family and also a The Core God powerhouse, but her aura was nowhere near as terrifying as this woman’s.
It seemed there were huge gaps even among The Core Gods.
Johnnie took a deep breath, stepped forward, and asked, wary, "Are you Pitiless?"
The woman’s brows pinched. Her voice grew even colder, full of killing intent. "Answer my question."
Nalorin Sylvia couldn’t take it anymore. "Master, we can’t handle her. Let’s go, now!"
Johnnie didn’t want to give up, but he could feel how terrifying this woman was. To deal with her, they’d probably need Skye to show up—or at least borrow Skye’s axe.
"Go!" He didn’t hesitate. He willed The Map of Heaven and Earth to open.
Hum!
But a powerful law force surged, and the space around them was sealed.
It was a complete lock. Even Johnnie and Nalorin Sylvia couldn’t move.
"You dared hurt my Snowy. Die," the woman said coldly. She raised her hand, and two waves of bitter cold rushed at them.
Johnnie’s eyes went wide with fear. In front of this woman, he was as small as an ant, with no way to resist.
Crack...
In an instant, he was frozen solid.
A heartbeat later, his frozen body shattered into ice shards.
[Ding, you were Instant Killed by Pitiless. Resurrection Ring activated...]
The prompts flashed. Johnnie revived on the spot, breaking free of that terrifying restraint for a moment.
Huu...
He gasped for air. The cold was still raging through his body.
Crack!
Nalorin Sylvia shattered the ice and burst out too.
Luckily, she also cultivated ice and snow power.Even so, she was pale and weak.
"Interesting. It’s been a long time since anyone set foot here," Pitiless said in a cool, playful tone.
Nalorin glared at her and said through clenched teeth, "Master, go first. I’ll try to hold her off."
Johnnie shook his head. "We can’t get away. Fight with everything."
He moved, and Seven Sword shot out. The blade was ink-black and full of evil power, howling as it stabbed at Pitiless.
Clang!
Pitiless lifted her hand slightly. Pale blue light wrapped her fingertip. With a light flick, she froze Seven Sword on the spot.
"Seven Sword!"
There was a hint of delight in her voice. "Human, I didn’t expect you to have such a divine weapon. I’ll be taking this sword."
As she spoke, she flicked her finger again. A surge of powerful Soul Power ran along the blade and bounced back, striking Johnnie’s soul.
This woman could wipe him out completely.
Johnnie’s face changed. He instinctively used Vajra Indestructibility.
Hum!
Vajra Indestructibility boosts defense two hundredfold—including The Intensity of the Soul.
Johnnie’s head rang, a sweet taste rose in his throat, and he spat blood. His soul was badly wounded.
"Huh, not dead?" Pitiless looked surprised. "Interesting. Your Intensity of the Soul is this high. But how many of my strikes can you block?"
She flicked her finger again, calm and poised.
Feeling a huge danger closing in, Johnnie snapped, "Is The Core God so mighty? Let’s see if you can withstand heavenly tribulation!"
As he spoke, his aura surged higher and higher.
His stats had long surpassed a Stage 9, Legendary peak powerhouse. He stopped suppressing his power and instantly drew the godhood heavenly tribulation.
Rumble...
Thunder rolled. Dark clouds churned. A terrifying pressure fell, covering hundreds of kilometers.
Pitiless was within the tribulation’s range too—this was a heavenly tribulation aimed at The Core God.
"Godhood heavenly tribulation."
Pitiless’s face shifted. She said coldly, "You’re that Johnnie."
"That’s right. Let Cecilia go, and maybe I’ll spare your life." Johnnie’s goal here was to save Cecilia.
"Heh. You think this heavenly tribulation can threaten me?" Pitiless sneered and pointed at him from afar.
A bone-chilling power swept over. Johnnie’s power froze at once. His aura was crushed, and the clouds above his head scattered in an instant.
"How is that possible?" Johnnie was shocked. He had never seen such a strange move—sealing an enemy’s power from a distance. It was unbelievable.
Right now, his base stats hadn’t changed, but all his skills were gray and unusable. Even The Map of Heaven and Earth was suppressed and couldn’t be opened.
Hum!
Snowflakes flew as Nalorin Sylvia struck. Stellar Sword howled toward Pitiless.
"You use ice and snow power in front of me? Are you looking down on me?"
Pitiless felt insulted. With a wave, all the drifting snow froze. Then a terrifying force slammed out and sent Nalorin Sylvia flying.
