Chapter 60: We Can Help You
CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 60: WE CAN HELP YOU
How much? Five hundred thousand!
Five hundred thousand!
[Don’t Read This Sentence] stared at the number a few times. He wasn’t rich, so he was really tempted.
But to be careful, he asked for more details.
The other person didn’t share much useful info. They only said several other class-changed players had agreed already, including two other class-changed players from [Don’t Read This Sentence]’s own Safe Zone
With that, [Don’t Read This Sentence] felt that with so many strong players involved, whatever this stranger wanted, nothing should go wrong.
He replied to the stranger without hesitating.
[Don’t Read This Sentence]: [No problem. Safe Zone 9527, right? I’ll be at the spot on time.]
[19110536]: [Okay.]
Player [19110536] looked at the reply from [Don’t Read This Sentence] and nodded, satisfied. He lifted his eyes from his wristwatch to a man not far away, bent his waist, lowered his head, and said respectfully:
"Sir, that makes four class-changed players. That should be enough, right?"
The man he called sir nodded and said, "Almost. Our rivals can probably only find three or four class-changed players too."
"People from [Ghostfang] and [Prism] are on the way. Where are our people now?"
Player [19110536] answered, "Sir, we expect to reach Dolren City at 2 a.m."
The man turned and walked slowly toward [19110536] as he spoke: "This is a rare chance for you. There’s a lot happening in the real world lately, and the organization is short on people. As long as you finish this job, you’ll qualify to become a full member."
When he reached [19110536], [19110536] instinctively bowed even lower.
Then the man reached out and patted his shoulder.
[19110536] nodded excitedly and said with confidence:
"Don’t worry, sir. I’ve checked. That [Windchaser] isn’t anything special. To kill him, one class-changed player should be enough."
The man reminded him, "[Windchaser] isn’t the point. Watch out for people from [Ghostfang] and [Prism].
"The recipe must not be stolen!"
[19110536] nodded again. After a moment, the man in front of him logged off.
Only then did [19110536] lift his head. He clenched his fists, face full of excitement.
He muttered: "I didn’t expect to earn a shot at joining the organization so soon. Once I’m a full member, I should get enhancements in the real world too, and gain power beyond ordinary people!"
"To play it safe, I’ll stick to the backup plan and catch the next flight to Dolren City."
...
Inside Safe Zone 9527, Lucas, Lucian, and Sylvan were busy getting things ready in a restaurant near the spire.
He had paid a hefty sum to rent the place from the Safe Zone’s NPCs.
He chose it because it was the closest spot to the central spire he could find.
There are lots of security patrols near the spire, and Safe Zone 9527’s Sheriff, Evan, keeps order there.
At this distance, if anything happens, Evan can rush over right away.
The chubby Lucian looked at the almost-finished setup and felt something was missing. He slapped his forehead and said to Lucas:
"Lucas, isn’t this a bit too plain? Want me to call some pretty female influencers tomorrow to put on a show?"
Lucas rolled his eyes. "What show could top tomorrow morning’s fight between Ethan and the class-changed players?"
Lucian thought about it and still felt that having pretty girls around would get people even more excited.
Sylvan didn’t join their talk. He stared at the floor, lost in thought.
Lucas walked over, patted his shoulder, and asked softly, "What are you thinking about?"
Sylvan took a deep breath. "Lucas, do you think Windchaser really has a way to deal with the enemies coming?"
"I’ve already heard that class-changed players from nearby Safe Zones have been approached by a stranger."
Lucas answered without hesitation, "We’re past the point of second-guessing. If nothing else, Ethan pulling their attention onto himself for our sake is enough for me to keep backing him."
"Log off early and get some rest. Tomorrow we fight with Ethan."
"It’s a pity I haven’t finished the [Frost Warrior] class change quest yet. If I had, I could fight much stronger."
Lucas, Sylvan, and Lucian kept talking, not noticing a figure slipping away from a dark corner nearby.
Evan had just come back from seeing Elise. He was planning to report Elise’s talent metamorphosis to Lady Tina. But as he passed this area, he happened to hear a name he hated: [Windchaser].
That loudmouth who tricked him into doing the [Berserk Blood War God] class change... it sounded like he’d be in a tough fight tomorrow morning?
Evan usually looked down on fights between players. In his view, there’s no skill in them at all—like kids in the Safe Zone swinging silly wooden sticks at each other.
But since it involved that annoying [Windchaser], Evan felt like going to watch him get killed.
Walking toward the spire, Evan muttered, "A laughable [Berserk Blood War God] class, huh? Let me see how strong this ’[Berserk Blood War God]’ of yours really is."
...
At dawn, the first beam of sunlight slipped into the hospital room and fell on the floor. By then, Ethan had already opened his eyes.
He checked the time and frowned a little.
By habit, he should have woken up half an hour earlier.
Why was he late today?
Ethan keeps a very steady routine and healthy habits. He almost never stays up late, doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, and wakes at the same time every morning.
He didn’t overthink it. Maybe he’d spent too long in Dawnfall Online lately and felt a bit mentally tired.
After a quick wash and breakfast, Ethan lay down on the bed, ready to log into Dawnfall Online.
He looked up at the hospital room ceiling, sighed, and said softly, "Once I’m out of the hospital, I should really work out. Lying in bed all day playing games is a bit too lazy."
With that, he closed his eyes.
When Ethan opened them again, he was already in Safe Zone 9527.
The moment he logged in, he heard nearby players chatting as they walked by:
"I bought a Green-quality weapon today. I’m heading to the ice cave to grind later. Want to come?"
"You’re going out? You don’t know there’s something important today?"
"What is it?"
"Haven’t you heard? [Windchaser]’s guild [Tower of Fates] is holding an auction today, hosted by [Lucas]. I’m planning to go take a look."
"An auction? The game’s only been live a few days. What’s even worth auctioning?"
"Purple-quality intel! Not just one. There’s even intel on a hidden class for class change!"
"Holy crap! For real? Then I’m not going out. I’m going to check it out too."
As Ethan listened, it proved true: to regular players, intel on hidden classes matters more than anything else.
He was pretty happy with Lucas’s promotion work. Walking toward the exit of Safe Zone 9527, he noticed far fewer players were leaving than usual.
That meant Lucas’s efforts had gotten most people interested in the auction.
When Ethan was about to reach the exit, he stopped. Three familiar figures were waiting there.
Lucas, Sylvan, and Lucian were scanning around nervously. When they spotted Ethan, they ran straight to him.
Ethan asked, curious, "What are you doing here?"
Lucas spoke first. "Ethan, you’re doing this for us. We can’t just stand by and watch you go fight the enemy!"
Ethan froze. For them?
He was clearly trying to use this chance to unlock the second skill of [Berserk Blood War God], [War God]. How did it turn into doing it for them?
After a couple of breaths, he realized Lucas and the others had misunderstood.
He didn’t want to explain. He just said, "Just focus on the auction. Once I deal with the enemies outside, I’ll head to the venue."
Lucas, Lucian, and Sylvan traded looks. Then Sylvan said, "The three of us haven’t finished our class change, but we’re all level 10. We’re not weak."
"We can help you."
Ethan answered right away, "No need. If you don’t want to leave, when the fight starts, you can watch from the side."
