Only God
Chapter 508 - 437
CHAPTER 508: 437
"This is... the city beneath the city..."
Angel Schiller walked through the nearly deserted city.
He had heard of this city.
The Six Divine plotted against the rule of God and created the Primordial Church, and the city beneath the city was the heart of the Primordial Church.
They thought they were extremely secretive in their every move, but in the end, they still brought about their own doom, their souls plunging into Hell to suffer punishment.
The broken stone walls rose and fell haphazardly. Since the death of the Six Gods, the city had been devoid of life, leaving behind traces of lives that seemed like the work of ghosts.
The city had succumbed to an endless darkness, sinking into a sea of deadly silence.
Schiller slowly made his way to the city’s highest point, where the counterfeit Golden Hall lay in ruins. The Great Angel couldn’t help but find the creations of the Six Gods laughably absurd.
He ascended slowly, gazing into the formless darkness.
"It’s time... to take away a power."
............
Much time had passed after that.
Deep within the Celestial Kingdom, the roiling Sea of Souls.
The Rose Serpents swirled among the clouds, back and forth, seeming impatient like ants on a hot pan.
These serpents, which fed on good thoughts, seemed to reflect Schiller’s mood at the moment.
He had brought back that primordial strength from the Primordial Will, used it to transform the Rose Serpents, and for this purpose, he had built an altar, trying over and over to create a being with wisdom.
In this process, Schiller was completely immersed, throwing many things to the back of his mind, including time.
Even the mission God had bestowed upon him was gradually cast aside.
Schiller wasn’t sure if the Mechanical Book he had casually discarded was now making an impact or what changes it had brought to the Dwarf World.
He was only engrossed in the creation at hand.
Creating a wise race...
In an era so remote that none of the things had names, that was something only God could do.
God... was the origin of reason, the source of "Logos."
Schiller tirelessly repeated his work, step by step, striving to imitate the tales of myth and imbuing the embryo before him with reason.
After what seemed like an eternity.
Above the rolling Cloud Sea, nearly all the Rose Serpents had raised their bodies, standing motionless atop the clouds, all eyes converging toward the center of the Sea.
Upon that altar, a new life slowly emerged, her figure graceful, yet no taller than a thumb. She bore two pairs of wings, translucent as cicada wings.
She looked around bewildered and ignorant, watching the Cloud Sea underneath her with the wonder of a newborn, yet possessing a wisdom that wasn’t of a baby.
Step by step, she walked off the altar, towards the creator enveloped in brilliance. Gradually she approached the presence with six wings.
An unprecedented sentient being, she strangely experienced a feeling; she wanted to draw near but dared not advance, yearned to touch but could not trespass. Instinctively, she knelt down and brought her hands together.
She did not yet understand that this feeling was called respect.
"Who... who am I?"
Standing on the altar, she uttered the first syllables, the first words of her race in confusion.
"Fairy."
Moments later, a voice of supreme authority echoed across the Sea of Souls,
"You are the Logos of the Sea of Souls."
Fairy...
The fairy didn’t know what the word meant, but she readily accepted the name. However, she didn’t understand what ’Logos of the Sea of Souls’ was.
"Logos... what is that?"
The fairy couldn’t help but ask.
Schiller looked directly at this new being. Although joy filled the Great Angel’s heart, he still maintained his due majesty.
"That is not yet for you to know."
The solemn words fell, and the fairy, slightly confused, nodded her head.
Gazing up at the figure shrouded in endless radiance, she knelt on the ground and could not help but lower her head, her confusion and incomprehension lingering within her life.
She was filled with perplexity at everything before her eyes, and at the same time, this newly born life possessed boundless curiosity. Her doubts enveloped her like a vast ocean, compelling her to break free from the shackles of reverence, her voice trembling as she questioned her creator,
"Since I am a fairy,
then... what should I know?!"
Below the immense wings, amidst the vast radiance,
a voice answered,
"You should know...
God created mankind,
and I created you."
...............
The first fairy in this world was named by Angel Schiller.
Great Angel Schiller called her Sofia, for the name meant "wisdom."
Fairy Sofia was led by Schiller away from the altar, the Great Angel brought her to the supreme heights of the Sea of Souls, where, enveloped by the wings, she incredulously watched countless rose serpents before her.
"Sofia, they will submit to the fairies, just as cattle and sheep do."
"I will create your people, and they will submit to you, just as they do."
"From now on, you will be the King of Fairies, the king of souls."
As the solemn declaration was pronounced, innumerable rose serpents bowed their heads, as if announcing the submission of the entire species.
Sofia looked on with a bewildered face at the rose serpents bowing before her.
For this new life form, Schiller’s words were too complex, too hard to comprehend.
"’King’... What does that mean?
And what about these cattle and sheep, what are those?"
Sofia asked, face full of puzzlement.
The Great Angel spoke calmly:
"As you obey me, so your people shall obey you."
At that moment, upon hearing Schiller’s explanation, Fairy Sofia finally showed a look of sudden realization.
Then, she turned her head and asked quietly:
"But... I still do not know how to address you?
Please tell me, who are you? How should I address you?"
God...
The Great Angel almost let this word slip out.
But Schiller, after all, did not do so.
The magnificent Six Wings drooped slightly; Schiller could not find a better word to replace it, nor did he know by what name his creations should address their creator.
For a long time, a very long time.
So long that Fairy Sofia began to doubt whether she had asked the wrong question and was about to retract her statement when at last,
the Great Angel made a move, and the light spread once more.
"Prophet..."
"I am God’s Prophet, and also your King exclusively."
The majestic voice resonated in the vast Sea of Souls. The King of Fairies, who heard his words, had her heart shaken, above her head were slightly quivering wings, and below her were the endless Cloud Sea and a species submissive like cattle and sheep.
And so,
a whole new species stepped onto the stage of history, and their creator was to usher in a brand new era.
