CHAPTER 103: CHAPTER 102: DO YOU HAVE TIME ON SATURDAY?

He wore a deep space gray suit, a white French shirt paired with a deep gray tie with pink polka dots. He looked in good spirits and condition, forming a sharp contrast with Sienna Thornton, who looked haggard with dark circles under her eyes.

He elegantly walked in and sat down on the small sofa.

Sienna Thornton’s office wasn’t big, and the 3+1 style sofa was naturally a small size. With some case files already piled up, Simon Forrester’s tall frame made the cramped space even smaller when he sat down.

Sienna Thornton took a bottle of mineral water from a box under her feet, walked over, and sat down opposite him, her voice barely able to contain her joy: "You came to see me?"

Simon Forrester: "I had some business to take care of, so I thought I’d stop by to say hello."

"I see, is the matter taken care of?"

Simon Forrester nodded, his eyes scanning Sienna Thornton’s not-so-spacious office before finally resting on the desk piled with case files, "Busy with work?"

Sienna Thornton pressed her lips together: "A little."

Simon Forrester withdrew his gaze, then looked at her legs clad in black flat knee-high boots, "How’s your leg?"

"It’s okay, just that I don’t dare to put too much weight on it when standing, and it feels a bit twisted when I walk." Sienna Thornton laughed, her beautiful eyes twinkling like stars as she looked at him.

"Rest takes a hundred days for bone and muscle injuries, you should take it easy."

"Yes, yes," Sienna Thornton laughed politely, hesitating but finally asked about the matter she was most concerned about, "So... when are we going to look at the site?"

Simon Forrester opened his phone, checked his schedule, and asked, "Are you available on Saturday?"

"Yes, I am! I have the weekend off!" Sienna Thornton replied enthusiastically.

"Okay, let’s confirm the departure time on Friday night." Simon Forrester stood up, ready to leave.

Seeing that the process of setting up the B&B was about to make a big step forward, Sienna Thornton felt joyful and personally saw him out as if she were sending off an honored guest.

The two entered the elevator, one after the other.

At first, neither of them spoke. Just when Sienna Thornton was thinking about saying something to break the awkward silence, Simon Forrester suddenly asked, "Is there a female lawyer with the last name Jefferson at ’Vantage’?"

"How old?"

"Looks a bit older than you."

Sienna Thornton thought for a moment, then said, "That should be Jane Jefferson from the family law department." She paused and then laughed, "Actually, she’s the same age as me."

"Is that so?" Simon Forrester looked down at her, "You do look a bit younger."

Sienna Thornton pursed her lips, secretly laughed. Seeing her laugh, Simon Forrester suddenly felt all his worries were washed away.

"Ding," the elevator door opened.

Sienna Thornton escorted Simon Forrester to the entrance. Just as she was about to return, Simon Forrester suddenly called out to her, still using the formal "Lawyer Thornton."

She froze for a moment, turned back to look at him, "What’s up?"

He asked casually, "How do you get along with your colleagues at the firm?"

"Only work-related interactions."

Simon Forrester understood right away.

Wherever there are people, there’s clique culture. Those who only have work-related interactions with colleagues usually aren’t well-liked. It was understandable why a group of female colleagues would gossip about Sienna Thornton in the break room.

He took a few steps forward, hands in his pockets, quietly watched Sienna Thornton for a few seconds, and suddenly lowered his head to speak softly in her ear: "Don’t forget your promise to me."

Sienna Thornton was slightly startled: "What promise?"

She’d been suffering from insomnia lately, which had affected her memory.

Simon Forrester tilted his head slightly, gazing at her small, cute earlobe, which was covered with fine, tiny hairs.

He swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing a few times, and a steady, magnetic voice escaped his throat: "Quitting ’Vantage.’ Did you forget?"

As he spoke, his breath sprayed directly onto Sienna Thornton’s neck, making her shrink that shoulder.

"I didn’t forget," she was caught off guard by how quickly he brought it up and hurried to explain, "I still have cases on my hands. Once they’re all wrapped up, I’ll submit my resignation."

"As soon as possible." He stood upright, gave her a deep look, then turned to leave.

Sienna Thornton returned to her office. Rochelle Linwood brought in a cup of coffee, but she refused: "I don’t need coffee to perk up this afternoon. I’m feeling quite good now."

"You looked so down this morning, but seeing Director Forrester perked you right up," Rochelle Linwood teased half-jokingly.

Sienna Thornton snapped back to reality at her words, raising her hand to press against her rapidly beating heart, mumbling, "I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t mentioned it."

Rochelle Linwood: "I bet if you look in the mirror, you’ll see your face is glowing."

"Really?" Sienna Thornton immediately took out a mirror from the drawer, admired the girl with beautiful eyes in the mirror for a moment, and contentedly put it back.

She rested her chin on her hand, pondering for a while, then unknowingly started to smile sweetly.

That night, she slept soundly for the first time in ages, as if insomnia had never happened. Just when she thought her sleep had finally returned to normal, the next day, she couldn’t sleep again, falling back into a cycle of sleepless nights and lethargic days.

Amidst her bafflement, Simon Forrester’s call came in.

Simon Forrester: "I’ll pick you up, tomorrow morning at 8:30, meet you downstairs."

Sienna Thornton fiddled with the hem of her nightgown, hesitating: "Could we go over around noon instead?"

On the other end of the line, Simon Forrester was silent for a moment but didn’t ask why, only replying, "Fine," before hanging up.

Sienna Thornton thought for a moment and called back: "Will it take a long time? If it’s going to take a lot of time, we can start early."

Simon Forrester’s tone was cool: "Three or four hours won’t make a difference."

After hanging up, Sienna Thornton immediately checked the weather forecast and found out it might snow tomorrow, rushing to her closet to choose clothes.

After trying on clothes and throwing them all over the bed, she couldn’t find anything suitable. She video-called Maeve, who was away on a performance, trying on outfits one by one for her to see.

In the video, Maeve frowned and asked, "Are you going on a blind date tomorrow?"

"A non-marriage advocate going on a blind date is like a bald person shopping for shampoo."

Maeve laughed, pointing at a spot of white on the bed, "That white down jacket is nice, pair it with blue cropped jeans and black flat boots, it makes you look young!"

"Really?" Sienna Thornton picked up the down jacket, dressed as Maeve suggested, and twirled in front of the camera, "How’s this? How does it look?"

"Beautiful!" Maeve never hesitated to praise Sienna Thornton.

Sienna Thornton stood in front of the camera, changing clothes while chatting with Maeve, "Can you come back tomorrow? If not, I’ll go with Simon Forrester to check the place myself, okay?"

"You go ahead, be safe," Maeve said, suddenly raising her voice, "So you’re meeting Simon Forrester tomorrow and that’s why you’re turning your closet upside down at this hour?"

"No," Sienna Thornton laughed awkwardly, "Just saw the weather forecast predicting snow tomorrow. Otherwise, I would’ve just worn a dress and coat!"

"..." Maeve gave her a look as if she’d seen through her, reminded her to stay safe, and then ended the call.

Sienna Thornton tidied up the pile of clothes, rummaged through her closet, and found the flat boots she bought in the spring, preparing for tomorrow’s outfit until it was well past midnight.

Exhausted, she lay straight down and fell asleep. She dozed off for who knew how long when she suddenly felt warm, just like that night in Norport when Simon Forrester held her in his arms.
