Chapter 115 - 114: Roller Coaster
CHAPTER 115: CHAPTER 114: ROLLER COASTER
Sienna Thornton didn’t answer immediately. She slowed her pace, mentally chewing over the question.
What misunderstanding could there possibly be between them?
Isn’t it just those things between a man and a woman?
When he flirted with her, she wasn’t interested; when she found him a bit intriguing, he lost interest; now he’s keen, and she’s lost interest again.
Pretty boring, isn’t it?
Mainly because of the day, she didn’t want to waste much breath on this issue; her mind was elsewhere now. So she smiled and said, "No, I think we’re doing fine right now."
Simon Forrester looked up at the sky, letting out a deep breath.
After walking a bit further, his tone suddenly changed, becoming somewhat serious: "Let’s hire some security guards and electrical engineers, okay? Things like checking the showers for guests late at night—you shouldn’t do that yourself anymore."
"I know," she muttered under her breath, "right now it’s because there’s no money to hire people, isn’t it? You think I want to go inspecting people’s showers..."
Upon hearing this, Simon Forrester immediately said, "Two things."
"What?"
"One, I’ll arrange the security guards and electrical engineers for you. I’ll handle the wages. Don’t worry about anything else, just use them. Two, that set of men’s clothes you gave me this afternoon, I’ll return them when I get back to the city."
She thought he was going to talk about something big, but they were both minor matters, so she agreed right away.
As the two walked, they somehow ended up by the natural lake, getting close to Simon Forrester’s residence at The Rockwell.
Thinking about the shower issue, Sienna Thornton abruptly said, "There’s currently a problem with the shower in your room. What should we do? If the after-sales delay is too long, won’t that room be wasted? Do you know the supplier? Can you get them to come over and change it for us?"
Simon Forrester walked leisurely, with his hands in his pockets, as if her urgent matter wasn’t a concern to him at all.
Sienna Thornton felt like she was punching cotton, aggressively threatening: "Don’t be indifferent about this, I’m telling you, this matter involves you too. If it causes a loss to the B&B, I can hold your company accountable."
"What do you think about taking wedding photos here?" Simon Forrester asked suddenly, out of the blue.
Sienna Thornton perked up upon hearing this, putting the shower issue aside and said, "That’s great. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I think it’s a pretty good idea. Should I contact a wedding company? How about renting it out as an outdoor setting for a fee?"
"Why are you always thinking about making money? Isn’t that tacky?" Simon Forrester glanced at her, then asked again, "What I meant was, if you were to take wedding photos here, how do you feel about it?"
"Huh, me?" Sienna Thornton pointed at herself.
Simon Forrester didn’t reply.
Sienna Thornton laughed and said, "I’m a non-marriage advocate. I can’t picture such things. You’re asking the wrong person; you should ask your girlfriend."
"Who told you I have a girlfriend?" Simon Forrester retorted.
Sienna Thornton "hmm"-ed quickly in response: "I figured it’s normal to have a girlfriend at your age."
"Who said being older means I should have a girlfriend? What kind of twisted logic is that?"
She was regretting her unclear relationship with him earlier in the afternoon. Upon hearing he doesn’t have a girlfriend at this moment, Sienna Thornton’s mood went through a rollercoaster from highs to lows to highs again in one day.
Until she entered the main hall, Simon Forrester had already walked away, yet her eyes and brows still carried a smile.
The nightshift receptionist, Paige Pemberton, saw her in a good mood and asked flatteringly, "Mr. Thornton, what happy event did you encounter that’s making you so cheerful?"
She didn’t answer, exchanged greetings, was ready to go back to her room to sleep, but suddenly remembered something, turned to the front desk and said, "Check the occupancy status at ’The Rockwell.’"
Paige clicked a few times on the mouse, opened the occupancy system: "The Rockwell was booked two weeks ago by a gentleman named Simon Forrester, he booked it for a year, payment has been made in full today, transferred to the official account."
Two weeks ago, the B&B’s website had just gone live, with the recently launched booking function.
Sienna Thornton thought: Simon Forrester must have ulterior motives.
Also, booking a room for a whole year, spending over a million, is he loaded with money? Or is he worried that no one would stay at the B&B and it would ruin his reputation, so he secretly booked a year to add some impressive revenue streams to the B&B’s profit?
After speculating for a while, Sienna Thornton pondered over his purposes, but still couldn’t figure him out. He’s a mysterious guy, often speaking in halves, making people unable to see through him or guess his intentions. But anyway, since he booked The Rockwell for a year, let him deal with the shower after-sales slowly!
With the issue resolved, Sienna Thornton was in a good mood and set off to work in the city early the next morning, before dawn.
Simon Forrester didn’t call her either, remained quiet for two days, then sent a message saying he’d come over at eight to return the clothes.
On weekdays at night, Sienna Thornton usually rests at home, doesn’t go to bars or shop. Simon Forrester coming over with clothes late at night, she naturally felt it wasn’t convenient. So she changed her plans last minute, and decided to visit Maeve at night.
Maeve was at the dance studio practicing dance, preparing for the university music fan meeting in July. When Sienna Thornton arrived, they were rehearsing the song "Love’s Battlefront," which was popular on TikTok.
Sienna Thornton liked that song too. As the music rhythm started, she kicked off her high heels, let her long curly hair down, and joined the dance floor.
She had a great body proportion, though wearing a mismatched white shirt and black pencil skirt, the style was well-fitted.
"She always only leaves a phone number, never let me take her home, I heard you also fell for her and couldn’t help yourself..."
With the song over, she found she couldn’t stop, gesturing to Maeve for one more.
The next song was a catchy jazz tune, with a sudden change in style, she wasn’t afraid at all. Crossed her hands at her abdomen, and as the beat started, her arms naturally dropped, following the rhythm, moving freely...
She danced passionately, sweating like rain, smiling brightly.
Through the transparent glass, Simon Forrester watched her with a gentle, amused look.
She saw his intriguing expression through the sharp widescreen mirror.
After another song ended, Sienna Thornton caught the bottle of mineral water and towel Maeve threw to her, wiped the sweat off her face, and took a deep gulp, finishing half the bottle in one go.
Maeve came over, gently tapped her upper abdomen, laughing: "Drinking so much at once, be careful your stomach doesn’t bulge."
She didn’t reply, smiled thoughtfully, twisted the cap back on the bottle, and with beautiful, delicate phoenix eyes, glanced at the man outside with a proud expression.
Maeve followed her gaze, raised her eyebrows knowingly, but said nothing, going off to pick more songs.
Sienna Thornton ran fingers through her hair, straightened her back, and walked barefoot toward the door.
