Chapter 43: Unexpected News
CHAPTER 43: CHAPTER 43: UNEXPECTED NEWS
Upon hearing the other person call her "Mrs. Forrester," Sienna Thornton was momentarily speechless.
Simon Forrester didn’t clarify either, his tone was flat: "Shampoo, I want number eight."
He glanced at the silent Sienna Thornton and added: "Call a girl for her."
The welcome girl responded promptly and enthusiastically led them inside.
Sienna Thornton followed behind, and once inside, she saw two multifunctional beds placed side by side in the room, and immediately chuckled: "Oh, it’s a double room!"
Number eight and another shampoo girl came in, smiling as they replied: "Yes, because many of our clients are loving couples like you and Mr. Forrester, so we designed some couple suites like this."
Loving couples??
The smile on Sienna Thornton’s lips froze. She glanced at Simon Forrester standing beside her, and seeing he had no intention of speaking, she proactively clarified: "Mr. Forrester and I are not a couple, we just happened to come here together."
Number eight was embarrassed: "Sorry, we misunderstood."
"It’s alright," Sienna Thornton sat on the functional bed and waved to the girl who would be serving her, "Let’s start."
The moment the hot water hit her scalp, she let out a long breath and sighed: "So comfortable..."
Simon Forrester, lying on the bed next to her, gave a soft cough, closed his eyes but said nothing.
Number eight, attending to him, was quiet as a mouse the whole time, quite unlike her chatty demeanor when she shampooed Sienna Thornton’s hair the previous night. Sienna Thornton then realized that Simon Forrester was truly a cold person, so cold that during the entire hair-washing session that lasted over an hour, he didn’t utter a single word.
"Ms. Thornton, where are you from?" the shampoo girl started to make small talk with her.
Sienna Thornton didn’t mind; after all, chatting was better than idling away. She slowly closed her eyes and smiled: "I’m from Wrayhaven."
"Wrayhaven?" the other exclaimed, "There..."
Halfway through, she didn’t dare continue.
Sienna Thornton smiled and continued for her: "Wrayhaven is very poor, a severely impoverished county, and it still hasn’t developed."
Her tone was straightforward, without a hint of awkwardness or inferiority about coming from a poor area.
From the moment he closed his eyes to rest, Simon Forrester now opened his deep, star-like eyes and glanced at her...
After more than half an hour of washing, Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester’s hair was smeared with a thick hair care cream, then covered with a hood that continuously emitted warm steam.
Number eight and the shampoo girl stepped back to prepare the items needed for the next procedure. The room was very quiet, with only the faint sounds of small objects, like a natural lullaby, making Sienna Thornton drowsy.
The phone placed aside suddenly started buzzing, the vibration sound was particularly noticeable in the quiet environment.
The shampoo girl walked over, held the phone to Sienna Thornton’s ear, and softly asked: "Miss Thornton, do you need me to stop the steam so you can take the call?"
"Check who’s calling," Sienna Thornton thought, if it’s a business call, she’d take it outside.
"Caller, Jenna Raines."
"Jenna Raines?" Sienna Thornton’s tone changed slightly, "Answer it and put it on speaker."
The shampoo girl said "okay," answered the call, turned on the speaker, and placed the phone in Sienna Thornton’s hand.
Sienna Thornton brought the phone to her lips, her tone flat and indifferent: "What’s the matter?"
"Sis! It’s bad! Mom was taken to the county hospital by an ambulance!" The person on the other end was anxious, with a noisy background.
Sienna Thornton’s eyes flew open, she reached out to pull off the steaming cap on her head, and the shampoo girl quickly stepped forward to stop the steam for her when she saw this.
She sat up stiffly, her voice trembling lightly: "Why is Mom in the hospital? Tell me clearly!"
