Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike
Chapter 54: Negotiation
CHAPTER 54: CHAPTER 54: NEGOTIATION
Upon hearing that Sienna Thornton was willing to give money, Felix Raines immediately put on a smile, "What’s the matter?"
"Isn’t the land for those two new houses that were built in the back allocated to you privately by the village chief?"
Felix Raines’ triangular eyes shifted as he retorted, "You ran away at that time, and I didn’t have a daughter of age to marry off to the village chief’s son, so how could the village chief allocate me a homestead?"
"Then how did you get the land?"
"Naturally, I bought it from the village," Felix Raines replied firmly.
Sienna Thornton demanded to see the land deed, otherwise, she wouldn’t give the money.
Felix Raines immediately refused excitedly, claiming that the land deed had been ruined in the wash by Melinda Linton. Seeing Sienna Thornton’s disbelief, he rushed into the room, loudly cursing Melinda Linton.
Melinda Linton already had heart problems and couldn’t handle being scared. After Felix Raines shouted at her, she almost fainted.
Sienna Thornton was both angry and helpless, fully aware that arguing further with the Raines father and son would only be futile.
In this deep mountain forest, if they didn’t let her go, she couldn’t escape, and might actually end up being sold as a wife to the village chief’s foolish son; even if she escaped, Felix Raines would torment Melinda Linton to death.
Forget it, money is just a worldly possession.
Looking at Melinda Linton crying at the head of the bed, Sienna Thornton made up her mind and said to Felix Raines, "I’ll give you five hundred thousand, all at once, latest by tomorrow, but I have one condition."
The Raines father and son, upon hearing they could get five hundred thousand by tomorrow, instantly had eyes glowing like hungry wolves, "What is it, what is it?"
"Once you get the money, immediately let my mother and me go!"
"No problem!" Jared Raines agreed first.
Felix Raines’ triangular eyes rolled around again, and he nudged his son with his elbow, "You be quiet!"
He then turned to Sienna Thornton and said, "Five hundred thousand is the money I spent raising you! As for your mom, you can take her, but for another three hundred thousand! A total of eight hundred thousand, and when I see the cash tomorrow, I’ll immediately call a car to take you out!"
"Fine, eight hundred thousand is eight hundred thousand! Give me your account number, and I’ll immediately have my friend transfer the eight hundred thousand to your account." At first, Sienna Thornton thought of the card Simon Forrester had left her, but she wasn’t sure how much was in it, and decided it would be easier for Maeve to transfer it instead.
But Felix Raines had never used a bank card in his life, and he didn’t believe the money could just appear in his account from thin air.
Afraid the money would be said to have been transferred when it actually wasn’t, he insisted, "No! I must see the cash!"
Sienna Thornton wanted to get away quickly, so she had no choice but to agree, but she didn’t want Maeve involved in this, so she tried negotiating with Felix Raines.
"Eight hundred thousand needs to be packed in two large bags, and my friend is a girl, so she’s afraid to carry so much cash around. How about I have her transfer the money to your son and then you go to the bank in town to withdraw it in cash?"
Felix Raines thought about it and felt it was okay, agreeing readily, but he required Sienna Thornton to make the call for the money in front of him and on speakerphone to prove she wasn’t up to anything.
Sienna Thornton called Maeve and put the phone on speaker.
Maeve, knowing she had returned to her hometown due to Melinda Linton’s illness, asked as soon as she picked up, "How’s Auntie?"
"She’s fine, already back home."
"That’s good," Maeve on the other end breathed a sigh of relief and then asked, "So when are you coming back?"
"I’ll be back tomorrow, but before I come back, I need you to do something for me." Sienna Thornton spoke calmly.
"Sure, no problem, what is it?"
"My home here needs eight hundred thousand. I need you to find a way to transfer eight hundred thousand today to someone’s account so they can withdraw it in town tomorrow."
