CHAPTER 84: CHAPTER 83: LET’S GO TO NORPORT TOGETHER

"What’s going on?" Sienna Thornton was surprised, "As you know, Partner Reed and I have a superior-subordinate relationship."

She actually knew what Simon Forrester was referring to.

She wasn’t obligated to explain these things to him, but he had saved her multiple times, and after thinking briefly, she could understand his intentions.

Sienna Thornton eventually narrated some of her past with Thomas Reed.

"When I first arrived in the United States, I was quite poor. At that time, I was just getting acquainted with the Anglo-American legal system, which required spending a lot of time memorizing statutes and researching cases, leaving no time to work. I was often too broke to even afford books, and many study projects that required money couldn’t be done either. So in the first year, Partner Reed transferred money to my account a few times, but after I found out, I returned it to him untouched. In the second year, he brought me in for an internship, and I had a salary, so he stopped transferring money to me."

Seeing Simon Forrester’s unusual silence, she added, "And Mrs. Reed said that Partner Reed wanted to give me shares in ’Vantage.’ Do you think that’s possible? Shareholders transferring their shares to non-shareholders requires the consent of all shareholders. Who among the founders of ’Vantage’ would allow Partner Reed to do that?"

After explaining all this, Sienna Thornton felt both tired and helpless, and sighed, "A lot of what she says doesn’t stand up to scrutiny, which is why I never bother to clarify it, it’s pointless! To me, time is money. If I wasn’t taking a break due to my foot injury, I wouldn’t spend time recalling those trivial past incidents."

Hearing her describe her past with Thomas Reed as "trivial," Simon Forrester felt a faint joy rising in his heart.

Without a trace, he curved his lips slightly and said plainly, "So, if this case might lead to unfavorable rumors about you, you don’t mind? Because those things weren’t true in the first place?"

"Yes," Sienna Thornton said firmly, "If the rumors haven’t caused me any harm, I can choose not to pursue them. Conversely, I will definitely take legal action. But I believe Mrs. Reed’s lawyer wouldn’t advise her to do something so risky."

Simon Forrester nodded, feeling in a good mood, with the tension in his jaw relaxing slightly.

Sienna Thornton lay back on the bed, reflecting, "Although I’m poor, I wouldn’t mess around with a married man. If it were about money, why would I choose Partner Reed? Among the men pursuing me, there are plenty who are rich and single, enough to line up from one end of Regent Avenue to the other."

"..." Simon Forrester’s mood, which had just improved, soured again, and he frowned as he asked, "Do you know how long Regent Avenue is?"

"Isn’t that just a hyperbolic expression?" Sienna Thornton said weakly, "I originally wanted to say they could line up from the first ring to the second ring."

Just as Simon Forrester was about to ask which eligible bachelors were pursuing her, he was interrupted by a sudden phone call.

Seeing her grip the phone with a pale face, he reached out his hand, "Give it to me."

When Sienna Thornton didn’t move, he gently took the phone from her hand, answered it, pressed the recording button, and put it to his ear.

A string of foul language came through, with the caller threatening Sienna Thornton, saying if Mrs. Reed ended up in prison, it would be bad for her, and she wouldn’t make it through the winter.

After the person on the other end cursed and hung up, Simon Forrester then ended the recording and manually sent it to his own phone.

He handed the phone back to Sienna Thornton, saying, "You don’t need to handle this, I’ll take care of it."

"Okay."

...

Simon Forrester came out after showering, noticing that the sofa bed for the caregiver had been covered with the same light green sheets as the hospital bed, he realized it must have been arranged by Sienna Thornton.

He sat down to dry his hair, his gaze deep as he glanced at Sienna Thornton, who was lying with her back to him, "Asleep?"

"No..."

"I’ll arrange for your discharge tomorrow morning, are you sure you don’t want Maeve to come over to keep you company?"

Sienna Thornton replied softly, "No need, seeing me like this would only worry her."

Simon Forrester dried his hair, went back to the bathroom to blow dry it, and when he came out, his hair, originally slightly damp and shiny black, became fluffy and soft.

He was wearing a white V-neck T-shirt and gray cotton sweatpants, looking very homey and clean, shedding the sternness of the day, adding a touch of warmth.

However, this warmth might only be visible to Sienna Thornton.

Sienna Thornton turned to glance at him, saying, "Mrs. Reed’s people know I’m staying at your place, so tomorrow after my discharge, I might as well go back to my own home; the door has already been fixed."

"Are you sure?" Simon Forrester raised an eyebrow.

Sienna Thornton was conflicted.

Simon Forrester got up to turn off the lights and lay down.

In the dark, he spoke softly, "I have a flight to Norport tomorrow afternoon. There’s a project that needs to enter the third phase assessment, I might be there for a few days."

"In that case," Sienna Thornton hesitated, "then after being discharged tomorrow morning, I’ll go to your place to move my things and stay at my own home."

"... You could also choose to pack a few sets of summer clothes and come with me to Norport for a few days."
