Mitsuri’s face flushed an even deeper shade of pink, her hands fiddling nervously with the hem of her sleeve. "W-what do I think about you?" she stammered, unable to meet my gaze.
I leaned back in my chair with a small, teasing smirk. "Yes, what do you think about me? Am I the kind of person you could... understand? Accept?" My tone was playful, but my eyes stayed on her, gauging her reaction.
Mitsuri opened her mouth to respond but seemed to choke on her words, her blush spreading all the way to her ears. She looked like a flustered cherry blossom, and I couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
"Relax, Mitsuri," I said, leaning forward slightly. "I’m just teasing. But I have to admit, your reactions are adorable."
Her hands shot up to her face, trying to hide her embarrassment. "Alex-san, that’s so unfair!" she squeaked. "You can’t just say things like that out of nowhere!"
Yuri, standing a few steps away, subtly adjusted her glasses. Her expression remained neutral, but there was a slight shift in her gaze—something that reminded me of how Albedo might look in a similar situation. It wasn’t jealousy, per se, but more like a silent question: What exactly are you doing, my lord?
I mentally waved off her reaction. The only reason I’d asked Mitsuri such a question was because my system had already shown her affection level for me. I knew she wouldn’t reject my advances, and judging by her blushing, flustered demeanor, I was right on the mark.
Before Mitsuri could recover, the grand double doors of the cafeteria swung open, and a parade of servants entered, carrying trays of food that looked and smelled divine. At the front of the procession was Yuri, her professional demeanor as sharp as ever.
"Dinner is served, Lord Alex," she said, bowing slightly before motioning to the dishes being placed on the table. "Allow me to present the menu for tonight’s feast."
Mitsuri’s attention shifted immediately to the trays being set down. Her wide eyes sparkled with awe, and her blush slowly faded as curiosity and excitement took over. The table quickly became laden with an array of dishes, each one more impressive than the last.
Yuri stood beside the table and began her explanation, her voice smooth and polished. "First, we have a roasted pheasant drizzled with a glaze of honey and rare spices from the Nazarick treasury. The bird was slow-cooked to ensure tender, flavorful meat. Next, a delicate seafood platter featuring lobster, crab, and shrimp, all sourced from the underground sea in the seventh floor’s aquatic zones."
Mitsuri’s jaw dropped as she listened, her eyes darting between Yuri and the dishes in front of her. "There is an underground sea?" she whispered, her awe evident.
Yuri nodded without breaking her stride. "Indeed. All seafood served in Nazarick is either sourced from our aquatic zones or raised in highly controlled environments to ensure the highest quality. Additionally, we have a selection of grilled vegetables seasoned with exotic herbs, paired with a saffron-infused rice pilaf."
Her voice was calm and soothing, almost hypnotic, as she continued listing the dishes. "For dessert, we have a layered mille-feuille with cream imported from Nazarick’s specialized dairy farms. Each layer has been infused with a hint of vanilla, harvested from our botanical gardens."
Mitsuri blinked, overwhelmed by the sheer extravagance. "Yuri-san, how do you remember all that? Your explanations are so detailed and... and smooth!"
"It is my duty to ensure all guests of Nazarick are properly informed," Yuri replied, adjusting her glasses again. Her tone was polite but carried a subtle pride in her role.
Mitsuri turned to me, her eyes shining with amazement. "Alex-san, everything here is incredible! The food, the atmosphere, the people... It’s like a dream."
I smirked, leaning back in my chair as I watched her enthusiasm. "I told you Nazarick was special. But don’t just admire the food—dig in. It’s meant to be enjoyed."
Mitsuri didn’t need to be told twice. She grabbed a plate and started serving herself generous portions of everything Yuri had described. Her face lit up with every bite, each dish seemingly better than the last.
"This is so good!" she exclaimed between mouthfuls. "The pheasant just melts in your mouth, and the rice... I’ve never tasted anything like this before!"
Yuri, standing quietly nearby, gave a small bow. "I am pleased to hear you are enjoying the meal, Lady Kanroji. The chefs will be delighted to know their efforts have been appreciated."
Mitsuri paused, swallowing her current bite before turning to Yuri again. "Yuri-san, you really are amazing. Not only are you beautiful, but you’re so talented and professional. It’s like you’re the perfect maid!"
Yuri inclined her head gracefully. "You flatter me, Lady Kanroji. I am merely performing my duties to the best of my ability."
I chuckled softly at the exchange. "Yuri is one of the best, Mitsuri. Nazarick wouldn’t function as smoothly as it does without her."
Mitsuri nodded enthusiastically. "I can see that! Thank you so much, Yuri-san, for everything you’ve done. And thank you, Alex-san, for bringing me here. This is the best meal I’ve ever had!"
Her genuine gratitude was endearing, and I found myself smiling. "You’re welcome, Mitsuri. I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself."
The meal continued with lighthearted conversation, mostly Mitsuri marveling at the food and asking endless questions about Nazarick. Yuri answered each one with her usual poise, her explanations thorough and precise.
As the evening wound down and the plates were cleared away, Mitsuri leaned back in her chair, looking thoroughly satisfied. "I don’t think I can eat another bite," she said with a contented sigh. Then, catching herself, she glanced at me nervously. "I, um, didn’t eat too much, did I?"
I raised an eyebrow, amused. "If you did, it’s only because the food is that good. Besides, Nazarick’s resources are more than capable of handling your appetite."
Her relief was evident, and she smiled brightly. "Thank you, Alex-san. This has been the best day ever."
Yuri stepped forward, bowing slightly. "If there is anything else you require, Lord Alex, please do not hesitate to ask."
I nodded, giving her a small smile. "Thank you, Yuri. That will be all for now."
