CHAPTER 280: CHAPTER 282: HOW DID HE GET WOUNDED?

Her surgery hadn’t even started yet, so why did she need to leave?

"There’s no time to explain, let’s go!"

The man in black quickly left the hospital with the maniac.

It wasn’t until they got in the car that Sophie Sullivan learned from the man in black that Thomas Shannon had been injured.

Her brain was in a daze, and she hesitated to ask, "How did he get hurt?"

Didn’t he have Charlie River?

Didn’t he have all those bodyguards?

Why would he get injured?

The man in black didn’t answer her. Back at the manor, she was taken to the medical office.

Outside the operating room, Charlie River was waiting. William Guillen and Edward Benson were also present.

William Guillen and Edward Benson were discussing something. William Guillen’s face was gloomy, and he had even torn off his gentle mask.

Edward Benson looked solemn. Hearing footsteps, he motioned for William Guillen to stop talking.

They both looked over.

Sophie Sullivan stood disheveled and embarrassed before the two men. She was wearing patient clothes, and her hair, though tied up, had become messy from running quickly.

The iodine on her face made her look even more terrifying.

Edward Benson was silent for two seconds before saying, "Maniac, you’re here."

"What happened to Thomas Shannon?"

William Guillen’s voice was low, as if unwilling to discuss it further. "Thomas is injured."

"Is it serious?"

Only after asking did Sophie realize how silly her question was. If it wasn’t serious, why would she have been summoned back when she was already on the operating table?

The waiting was undoubtedly tormenting.

Time passed, every minute and every second, but the surgery still hadn’t ended.

「...」

Amelia Shaw didn’t know the situation in the medical office, but she was in a good mood today.

Early in the morning, she went swimming in the swimming pool.

After swimming a few laps, she went into the kitchen and baked some snacks.

Humming a tune, she happily waited for Frank Mitchell’s good news.

She waited from morning until noon. By this time, the maniac should be in the operating room, and the surgery should be halfway done...

So, she returned to her bedroom and was about to call Frank Mitchell on the telephone. Before she even dialed, his call came in.

With a smile, she answered the telephone, "Frank, is everything taken care of?"

"It’s done. As expected, the hospital had already been destroyed before the fire trucks arrived."

Amelia Shaw’s smile deepened. She raised her hand to look at her beautiful fingernails in the sunshine. "Great. Letting the maniac die unconsciously is the last bit of kindness I can show her, as we were once acquaintances."

Frank Mitchell’s voice was unhurried but carried a sense of dominance. "You’ve completed the task I asked for. When will you give me the design drawing?"

Amelia Shaw finally realized that Frank Mitchell was no longer the same Frank Mitchell she had once loved.

"What’s the rush? I’m still looking for Thomas Shannon’s safe box. I’ve searched his study room thoroughly, and there’s no safe box. Do you think Thomas Shannon would leave such an important design drawing lying around for anyone to find?"

Amelia Shaw brushed off her irritation. "Give me some more time."

"Fine, I’ll give you more time. I hope you won’t disappoint me."

"Don’t worry, I won’t let you down."

After hanging up the telephone, Amelia Shaw went downstairs and turned on the television.

As expected, news of the fire would soon be on the news.

When she saw the breaking news about the fire, through the reporter’s camera lens, she saw raging flames engulfing the entire hospital building.

The scene had already been cordoned off, and several fire trucks were engaged in emergency firefighting. The reporter’s eyes were red as she reported on the dire situation at the scene.

The number of casualties was still rising.
