CHAPTER 283: CHAPTER 285: IF ALIVE, LET US SEE THE PERSON; IF DEAD, LET US SEE THE BODY

Charlie River entered, his expression solemn.

Thomas Shannon glanced sideways at Sophie Sullivan, his cold eyes sweeping over her. "Maniac, make me a cup of tea."

Sophie Sullivan stood up and walked out.

If he wanted to send her away, he should have just said so. Making tea? Why didn’t he just say he wanted wine?

Once the door was shut, Charlie River reported in a grave tone, "Young Master, there has been a major fire at the hospital where George Stanford is staying. The number of casualties is still increasing, and George Stanford hasn’t been found yet..."

"What did you say?" Thomas Shannon’s eyes darkened. "A fire?"

"Yes, a fire broke out today."

After a pause, Charlie River said, "I can’t shake the feeling that this fire is very suspicious."

Thomas Shannon sneered. "Have you forgotten? Today was the day the maniac was supposed to have her surgery."

He only found out after waking up that it was William Guillen who had arranged for the maniac to be brought back, so she could take care of him.

Unexpectedly, this twist of fate had saved the maniac’s life.

But George Stanford...

"What has Amelia Shaw been up to today?" A murderous glint flashed in Thomas Shannon’s eyes. This was the second time Amelia Shaw had tried to take the maniac’s life.

Her previous attempt had failed, and he had chosen to let it slide.

This time, she was truly getting bolder!

"According to the servant, Amelia Shaw was in a good mood today. She baked some snacks, brewed flower tea, and even watched the news channel. The news of the fire was urgently broadcast on television."

Charlie River continued, "When the maniac went back to change her clothes, the servant said Amelia Shaw was terrified."

Thomas Shannon sneered. How could a person with a guilty conscience not be terrified?

Could she not be terrified when the person she was sure was dead appeared before her, alive and well?

Fortunately, she saw the maniac during the daytime. It would have been much more interesting if it had been at night.

"Charlie River, prepare several design drawings and place them in my study. Find a way for Amelia Shaw to discover them."

He wanted to see what she and Frank Mitchell, colluding together, were ultimately planning.

"Yes, Young Master!"

"And..." Thomas Shannon raised a hand to his throbbing temple. "Send people to the hospital immediately to follow up. You must find George Stanford. I want to see him, alive or dead—if he’s dead, I need to see the body."

The maniac’s only hope for her face to be restored rested entirely on him.

Nothing could happen to George Stanford.

Charlie River’s expression was grave. "Yes, Young Master!"

Sophie Sullivan hadn’t made tea; instead, she brought Thomas Shannon a cup of milk.

Thomas Shannon didn’t even glance at the milk, simply closing his eyes to rest.

Sophie Sullivan clicked her tongue. "Is this how you treat the benefactor who so diligently cared for you? If I’d known, I wouldn’t have come back. I would have just had the surgery."

Thomas Shannon slowly opened his eyes. It seems she still doesn’t know about the hospital fire.

With a sigh, Thomas Shannon beckoned with his fingers. "Maniac, come here."

Sophie Sullivan hesitated before reluctantly leaning down. "What for?"

Raising his uninjured left hand, he cupped the back of her head and pressed her down.

Her red lips pressed against his cool, thin ones.

Sophie Sullivan frowned, instinctively trying to pull away, but the hand at the back of her head held her firmly, preventing her escape.

His agile tongue pried open her lips and teeth...

The intensely passionate kiss lasted for several minutes.

Panting, Sophie Sullivan patted her chest and glared at him resentfully. "When will you ever change this habit of kissing people at the slightest disagreement?"

"The hospital caught fire after you left."

Thomas Shannon’s sudden words were like a bombshell, leaving Sophie Sullivan stunned for a long while.
