Part-time Boss
Chapter 66 - 66 66 The Strange Elf Sister
66: Chapter 66 The Strange Elf Sister 66: Chapter 66 The Strange Elf Sister Leading the team forward, with Razidann, a member of the royal guard, holding the front line, Mo Fei could finally let go completely, as he no longer even needed to handle the sole task of holding the line.
Razidann, along with four sword-and-shield infantry and a light infantryman, had more than enough to handle the occasional stragglers.
As they walked and battled monsters, the only thing Mo Fei needed to do was to confirm the direction.
They kept walking in the snowy mountains until past three in the afternoon, having killed hundreds of yetis and dozens of Ice Field Wolves, and even unexpectedly wiped out a nest of Ice Trolls.
Along the way, they encountered several teams of Adventurers, who looked enviously at Mo Fei’s leisurely demeanor.
Another five-member Adventurer team wanted to join Mo Fei’s team, but how could he agree?
Adventurers would take a significant share of the experience, and plot missions were secrets not to be exposed.
Instead, he hired the opposing Priest with a Gold Coin to heal a few of his injured infantry, and sold a heap of yeti pelts to them.
As they passed through the Yeti Mountain Range, the level of the monsters around them got higher and their numbers lesser, while encountering Adventurers became exceedingly rare.
At some point, amidst the snowstorm that appeared in the sky, they struggled onward, and suddenly, the silhouette of a towering mountain that reached into the clouds materialized within the white expanse of the blizzard.
As they drew closer, Mo Fei could make out the details of the mountain peak.
The mountain was covered in ice and snow, its exposed parts showing a pitch-black color, like a pillar reaching straight into heaven.
At the top of the mountain, a huge roaring storm swirled around, with lightning flashing within, spinning like a colossal whirlpool.
It didn’t seem to be a naturally formed landscape.
Lead-gray clouds covered the sky, clearly indicating a place of great danger.
The silver beam shot by the Ancient Dragon stone statue was actually pointing straight towards the peak of that mountain.
Mo Fei took out his map to take a look.
Sky Piercing Peak—true to its name; that mountain seemed to be piercing the sky itself.
It seemed that the Dragon Delight must be located there.
However, the real problem was how to get up there.
If he were still the Ancient Black Dragon Morphis, he could have just flown up.
But now…
Perhaps he could procure a Griffin; given his status as a Prince, it shouldn’t be too difficult.
However, Mo Fei suspected that even a Griffin might not be able to break through the storm’s encirclement.
Perhaps they could climb the mountain; despite its steepness, there might be hidden paths.
In any case, the first step was to reach the foot of the mountain.
Mo Fei gestured, and the team continued on their journey.
The area around Sky Piercing Peak was relatively flat snowy plains, with only a few snow mounds that rose and fell.
As they walked, a column of smoke suddenly appeared from behind a snow mound.
“Look quick, there seems to be a campsite there!” Razidann shouted.
Mo Fei charged up the slope to look, and sure enough, within a wind-sheltered depression surrounded by snow mounds, there were a few tents poking up, with stacks of supplies, and a large fire burning in the center of the camp, with a flagpole standing by.
One could see a dozen Dwarves and an Elf maiden studying something there.
Mo Fei immediately recognized the flag; it belonged to the Explorer’s Guild!
His heart leaped with joy; perhaps he could gather some information from these people.
He shook off the snow that accumulated on his cloak and took the lead towards the camp.
The Dwarves at the camp also noticed him and all took up arms as a precaution.
Once both sides had approached, the others immediately relaxed.
Mo Fei glanced around and was slightly surprised; among these Dwarven explorers was a Golden Rank hero.
Muradin Bronzebeard (Explorer Hero), Level 65, Golden Tier Five.
It was this fellow, the second of the Bronzebeard brothers, brother to King Magni Bronzebeard of Ironforge.
However, what truly made Mo Fei familiar with this character was from the Warcraft campaign storyline—this fellow went to Northrend with Arthas in search of Frostmourne and got killed by the shockwave when Arthas drew the sword—Mo Fei found it such a pity back then.
It wasn’t until the era of World of Warcraft that he learned this guy didn’t actually die…
But Mo Fei seriously doubted whether the same storyline would unfold in this world, considering the Kingdom of Lordaeron had more Princes than Altland.
A large part of the reason Arthas fell was due to the immense pressure he bore.
Now that he had so many helpful brothers to share the burden, he probably wouldn’t turn evil.
As for his wealthy brothers, it’s hard to say whether they were here to protect the Kingdom of Lordaeron or to snatch Frostmourne for themselves…
the idea of becoming the Lich King was undoubtedly tempting.
Prince Aidan of Altland: “Greetings to all my Dwarf friends, and the beautiful Elf lady.
It truly delights me to meet fellow members of the Alliance in this cold and treacherous mountain.
I am Aidan, Prince of Altland, and it is my honor to meet you all.”
Speaking, Mo Fei bowed slightly.
The Dwarves immediately returned the gesture with warmth, and Muradin, leading them, burst into hearty laughter.
Muradin Bronzebeard (Explorer Hero): “So it’s a youngling from the Pinore family, my oh my, look how tall and sturdy you’ve grown.
You seem much stronger than your father!
I am Muradin Bronzebeard, these are my Dwarven comrades, and Lady Hazy as Smoke is a seasoned explorer I met on the road.”
The name Boundless As Smoke instantly gives away that it’s a player, and it seems like a rare Explorer template player at that.
Mo Fei subtly nodded at the elf girl, his over a year of streaming career making him automatically assume his narrative role when facing NPCs.
This was partly out of habit, and partly to avoid lots of trouble.
The elf girl seemed quite surprised by Mo Fei’s princely status and immediately gave a reserved curtsy, trying hard to maintain an elegant and demure demeanor while sneaking peeks at Mo Fei.
It must be said, Mo Fei’s look at the moment was quite dashing—a heroic Northwind Knight outfit and a face specially crafted to be more handsome, plus the talents of a prince made him look sunny and dashing, and if paired with a steed from Altland, he would perfectly fit the image of a prince on a white horse.
Mo Fei didn’t realize what was happening; he was still fixated on his quest.
Aidan (Prince of Altland): “May I ask what you are doing here?
I have never heard of any ruins or secrets in the mountains of Altland worth excavating.”
Muradin Bronzebeard (Explorer Hero): “Hahaha, you wouldn’t understand, my lad.
The more remote the place, the bigger the secrets it hides.
Not long ago, I learned from a group of Adventurers about an ancient and mysterious ruin here, dating back to the Dark Age when there weren’t even writings.
I immediately led a group of warriors here.
And sure enough, we found the ruins, but we’ve encountered many strange snake-people nearby and had conflicts, plus the arrival of a blizzard, so our exploration has been temporarily halted.”
Mo Fei was slightly surprised to hear this; he had never heard of snake-people before.
Could there be a connection to the land of Dragon’s Delight?
Aidan (Prince of Altland): “Then, Mr.
Bronzebeard, could you perhaps take me to see those ruins?
As the Prince of Altland, I simply cannot ignore such matters happening on the land of my kingdom.”
Muradin Bronzebeard (Explorer Hero): “Well, I’m afraid that won’t be possible today.
I must consider my team’s safety.
How about we check it out together after the storm clears?”
Yet Mo Fei was somewhat impatient, as finding the Dragon’s Delight area would immediately net him 500 Plot Points.
At this moment, the elf girl by his side suddenly said.
“Your Highness, perhaps you would allow me to show you the way,” she said, looking at him with anticipation.
Mo Fei wondered what was going on; why was this girl so enthusiastic about this?
He was a bit unsure of the situation and thought it over.
Aidan (Prince of Altland): “Ah, beautiful lady, it’s a pleasure to receive your help in this cold wilderness.
I would be more than grateful for your assistance, but I wouldn’t want to put you in danger.
Are you sure it won’t cause you any trouble?”
“Hahaha, you’re such a warm guy…
cough, I mean—Your Highness, you needn’t worry.
I’m happy to assist, and I can take care of myself.”
“Then many thanks to you.”
“No need for thanks, no need at all,” the elf girl said, giving Mo Fei a very ‘brotherly’ slap on the shoulder, then immediately seemed to feel the gesture was too forward and clenched her fist in regret.
However, she quickly regained her composure, stood tall, and began walking forward.
Mo Fei hurriedly led the team to catch up.
Once they were far enough away from camp and before Mo Fei could speak, the elf girl started the conversation.
Mo Fei, having nothing better to do, engaged in small chatter with the girl, who turned out to be quite witty and seemingly a fan of RPGs, incessantly asking about the affairs of the Altland royal family.
Mo Fei casually responded along.
“By the way, Your Highness, may I ask if you have a girlfriend yet?”
What does she mean by asking that?
Could she be interested in me?
Mo Fei had a bit of a liking for the girl himself, thinking it wouldn’t hurt to try, “No, I don’t.
How about we exchange WeChat contacts?”
As soon as he said these words, Boundless As Smoke’s face, originally tinged with shyness, suddenly froze, “You are…
a player?”
“Yeah, why?”
“It’s…
nothing,” Boundless As Smoke sighed and frowned, her expression turning serious, “Let’s forget about WeChat, but leading you through danger can’t be for free.
How about you give me some Gold Coins for my trouble?”
Mo Fei was speechless; this woman changed faces faster than flipping a book.
“Sure, how much?”
“100 Gold Coins!” the elf girl said through gritted teeth.
100 Gold Coins wasn’t a small amount, equivalent to a thousand RMB.
Born as a prince, he had an initial capital of 500 Gold Coins, and looting along the way got him a few dozen Gold Coins.
Spending 200 on upgrading Larzidan, he still had just over three hundred.
On any other day, Mo Fei would have haggled, but now, eager to complete his quest, he couldn’t be bothered to bargain.
“Fine, one hundred it is.”
After receiving the Gold Coins, Boundless As Smoke immediately led the way.
She became silent all of a sudden, leaving Mo Fei baffled as he followed behind, wondering what was going on with her.
