Chapter 382: The 383rd Donghuang’s Close Combat Strength
“What on earth is going on?” Donghuang said impatiently.
Such a great opportunity to beat down a weakened enemy being squandered, Donghuang felt this was a mistaken choice.
With every second passing, Donghuang felt it was a total waste of time, glaring at Dongfeng Shuo with a displeased look, and spoke with an implication of being ready to strike at any disagreement.
However, knowing Donghuang as Mu Can did, it was impossible for him to actually make a move. The situation had escalated to a point where only by uniting could they possibly achieve final victory, so at this critical moment, Donghuang couldn’t possibly strike at Dongfeng Shuo. Moreover, given the terrifying power and resources Dongfeng Shuo had shown, Donghuang was even less likely to make a move.
His attitude was merely a probing of Dongfeng Shuo.
During the years that Mu Can had lost his power, he had carefully studied Donghuang’s personality. Although arrogant, Donghuang was thoroughly a ruthless and ambitious character, not hesitating to use any means necessary to achieve his goals, never acting without full assurance, but once he did act, it was like a torrential downpour, leaving no room for retaliation.
“Hehe.” Dongfeng Shuo laughed after taking a glance at Donghuang. Seeing Dongfeng Shuo’s smile, Mu Can knew someone was going to be unlucky.
Just like the two individuals they encountered upon entering the Immortal Ancient Secret Realm, who insulted them and almost ended up suffering a mental breakdown due to Dongfeng Shuo’s actions, exhibiting the same naïve-looking smile.
“What are you laughing at?” Donghuang’s eyes narrowed, and instantly two head-sized Light Balls appeared before and behind him, beginning to rotate around him, making him appear as though a deity.
“Nothing, just agreeing with you that we should directly attack the Void Creature,” Dongfeng Shuo responded, seeing Donghuang’s predatory expression yet showing no intention of direct confrontation.
Mu Can inwardly laughed heartily, Dongfeng Shuo’s words having cornered Donghuang into a dilemma.
With Dongfeng Shuo’s reasoning, if Donghuang didn’t act, it would imply his agreement with Dongfeng Shuo’s words, which equated to slapping his own face, essentially delivering slaps from both sides.
However, if Donghuang decided to attack, he would doubt Dongfeng Shuo’s intentions, wondering if he was falling into a trap.
Donghuang didn’t anticipate that Dongfeng Shuo would not confront him head-on but subtly tossed this tough choice back at him, causing him to burst out, only to find he had no proper justification.
The subdued man also watched Donghuang with an odd expression, desiring to laugh but not daring to, adding to Donghuang’s burning rage as if he had been greatly insulted.
“Fine, I’ll do it.” Donghuang suddenly turned and dashed towards the Void Creature, his momentum seemingly unsinkable.
“Are you alright?” the subdued man immediately asked upon seeing Donghuang actually turn to attack the Void Creature.
It was unclear whether he was concerned about Donghuang’s safety or the impact of his actions on the upcoming battle.
“Don’t worry, he should be fine,” Dongfeng Shuo chuckled, his smile still genuine but Mu Can sensed a hint of schadenfreude.
“Cunning old fox,” Mu Can cursed inwardly, feeling fortunate that he had separated from him early. Otherwise, being sold out by such a sly fox, he might even end up counting the money for him. He remembered clearly how those who insulted Dongfeng Shuo ended up, and if Dongfeng Shuo hadn’t been merciful, they would’ve been dead.
“No big deal as long as it doesn’t affect the overall situation.” Whether the subdued man believed Dongfeng Shuo or not, he nodded and said no more.
The goals of the group were the same, and even though the subdued man acted as the Captain, it was merely to ensure they passed the test.
In battle, what’s feared most is disorganization and individual fights, especially in such small-scale battles against far stronger adversaries. Without good cooperation and a competent leader, the chance of victory significantly decreases.
“Wow, Donghuang has also hidden quite a bit of strength. Even his close combat is so strong,” Mu Can observed leisurely.
As Donghuang rapidly advanced, the Light Balls around him increased from two to eight, though they were now half the size, beginning to spin rapidly around his body, which, coupled with the dazzling light, made him look like an encapsulated sun.
“Humph, let me show you my strength.” Donghuang dashed up to the Void Creature, even having time to glance back fiercely at Dongfeng Shuo and others before raising his fist, which was now enveloped in a brilliant light, almost as if wearing a pair of Light Boxing Gloves.
Boom!
He smashed his fist down hard, and it seemed as if the whole Altar vibrated, yet the Void Creature maintained its defensive posture without any change.
Its strange position was its injured leg bent, sitting on the ground, while its arms formed a pose as if cradling its head. But on the surface of its body, with eyes half-closed, it appeared as if asleep. If not for the light on its brow countering most of the attacks from several people, the Void Creature might now be just a corpse.
Dong Huan, seeing his powerful strike having no effect, immediately used both fists and feet harshly attacking the crouching, defending Void Creature.
Then, Mu Can noticed Donghuang’s transformation; a similar light that was around his fists now surrounded his feet, wrapping them up and creating a form akin to a lion’s paw.
Not only his hands and feet transformed, but the Light Balls surrounding his body were also constantly hitting the Void Creature.
A series of explosive noises echoed throughout the Altar, and the muscular man had somehow moved back to Mu Can’s side, trusting Dongfeng Shuo’s words completely.
“Hehe,” Donghuang noticed the change here. Although his attacks grew fiercer, his mind was extremely alert.
“This sly old man, once I reach the Void Level, he’ll be the first I kill,” Donghuang thought to himself.
In his eyes, Dongfeng Shuo and Mu Can were old acquaintances and appeared to have a good relationship. Wanting to test Dongfeng Shuo, he didn’t expect it would backfire leaving him trapped in a difficult situation.
