CHAPTER 1345: CHAPTER 1346: FORTUNATELY, I DIDN’T SEE...
Gong Juechen lit up the moment he saw her, enthusiastically waving her over: "Zhizhi, you’re back just in time! Hurry up and eat this before it gets cold—it won’t taste good if it’s cold."
It was medicinal food, the colder it got, the more bitter it became. Eating it hot was definitely better.
"Didn’t you say yesterday that I was done and didn’t need to eat it anymore?" Ye Zhi complained. After days of eating medicinal meals, her mouth was filled with a lingering taste of medicine. No matter how much she brushed her teeth, she couldn’t get rid of it.
Although she knew he meant well, she still wasn’t happy about it. Because of these meals, she had to brush her teeth several extra times a day. And still, the medicinal taste in her mouth refused to go away!
"This is the last round of medicine, I promise~" Gong Juechen grinned cheekily as he pulled Ye Zhi to sit at the table, sliding the medicinal dish in front of her and urging her to eat.
He even picked up the chopsticks and shoved them into Ye Zhi’s hand.
Ye Zhi held the chopsticks but didn’t move. Instead, she looked at him and said, "You said the same thing yesterday."
"Zhizhi, this really is the last dose of medicine!"
"You also said the same thing the day before yesterday."
"Zhizhi, it truly is the last dose." Gong Juechen put on his most earnest "look at my sincere little eyes" expression.
As he leaned closer, Ye Zhi didn’t hesitate to raise her hand and slap his face, pushing it away as she said with conviction, "I’ll eat this one time, but tomorrow you better not even dream of making me eat it again."
She paused, then added, "I even had a nosebleed this morning—probably because you’ve overdone it with the supplements."
Upon hearing this, Gong Juechen immediately grabbed her chopsticks, stopping her from eating, and asked, "You really had a nosebleed this morning?"
"Why would I lie about something like that?" Ye Zhi glared at him, fed up. If it weren’t for his persistent pestering every time she refused, she absolutely wouldn’t have eaten any of it.
Gong Juechen calculated that her body had probably been nourished enough by now and shouldn’t be over-supplemented—that wouldn’t be good.
So, he didn’t press further about whether Ye Zhi’s nosebleed was real. He quickly snatched her chopsticks again and piled all the medicinal food back onto the tray.
"Zhizhi, you don’t need to eat this anymore. Wait for me, I’ll make something to help you cool down instead." With that, without waiting for her response, Gong Juechen carried the tray of medicinal food and made his exit.
"No need for that—I’ll just eat at the cafeteria," Ye Zhi called out after him. At this moment, she didn’t mind the mediocre food at the cafeteria; she was genuinely worried Gong Juechen would whip up some other medicinal meal for cooling purposes.
Gong Juechen appeared to pick up on the underlying tone of her words. Just as he reached the tent’s exit, he turned his head back and smiled at Ye Zhi: "I won’t add any medicinal herbs—I’ll just make cooling dishes for you."
His smile was a slight, casual grin.
Gong Juechen was already ridiculously attractive, but that subtle smile made his face even more dazzling. Paired with those flirtatious, electric eyes that seemed capable of sending sparks flying at any moment, he now radiated a breathtaking kind of brilliance.
Ye Zhi found herself momentarily dazed by his smile, her rare fleeting lapse of focus betraying her admiration for how stunning Gong Juechen looked in that moment.
Absolutely stunning...
Realizing what she was thinking, Ye Zhi snapped back to her senses. Her face flushed bright red just as Gong Juechen stepped out of her tent.
"Thank goodness he didn’t see..." Ye Zhi muttered to herself softly as she used her hand to fan her burning cheeks, trying to cool herself down.
But still...
How could she be swooning over him?
Had she just been swooning over him?
