CHAPTER 1419: CHAPTER 1420: HOW CAN YOU OBTAIN A TIGER CUB WITHOUT ENTERING THE TIGER’S DEN?
The liquor left in the water pouch was running low. An Jing and Li Wuyu didn’t dare to drink much, fearing they wouldn’t survive this interminable night and freeze to death in the mountains.
Only when their bodies felt a bit warmer and she believed she could get back in the water did An Jing write on Li Wuyu’s hand: "I’m going into their camp to check things out. Can you handle it? If not, stay here."
Without venturing into the tiger’s den, how could she seize the tiger’s cub? She needed to gather more enemy intelligence to bring back.
Li Wuyu immediately grabbed An Jing’s hand, and with some urgency, wrote on it: "I can! I’ll go with you!"
She wasn’t as resistant to the cold as An Jing, but since she came ashore earlier than her, although her body was still chilled, she wasn’t shivering anymore. She wasn’t someone who feared death. Besides, in this moment, there was no room for cowardice.
She was determined to go, even if it meant sacrificing herself. She would have no regrets.
Simply because she was doing it for her country.
An Jing clasped Li Wuyu’s hand, signaling her agreement. Then, she stripped off her camouflage uniform, rose quietly to her feet, and slipped soundlessly back into the water.
Li Wuyu followed behind An Jing and entered the water as well.
Just then, a soldier went off to relieve himself. An Jing and Li Wuyu swam to the spot where the soldier had been standing guard, climbing ashore with deliberate silence, making not the faintest sound.
The night was pitch black.
Not far away, other soldiers were gathered around a campfire, chatting. As soon as An Jing crawled ashore, she didn’t stand up but remained prone, crawling forward on her stomach.
As a modern-day special forces soldier, An Jing’s mental fortitude was unparalleled. Even in such a perilous moment, she remained completely composed, methodically crawling toward the shadows.
Li Wuyu’s nerves weren’t as strong as An Jing’s. When she saw An Jing crawl ashore without hesitation, she was a little frightened, her heart pounding in her chest, terrified that An Jing would be discovered.
But she forced herself to steady her nerves and followed An Jing in crawling ashore.
Her heart was still racing uncontrollably.
It was her first time doing something like this, and she was genuinely terrified.
Her heart was beating furiously, but she held her breath, mimicking An Jing’s moves exactly, crawling as she did. She was so nervous that she didn’t know what else to do except to follow An Jing.
When the two of them crawled into the darkness and it felt considerably safer, Li Wuyu finally let out a deep breath of relief.
As soon as An Jing reached the shadows, she stood up and hid behind a tent. Li Wuyu quickly followed her lead, hiding behind the same tent with An Jing.
Soon, they saw that the soldier who had gone to relieve himself returned to his original post, resuming his guard duty.
Involuntarily, Li Wuyu gave An Jing a thumbs-up in the dark. A master was truly a master—such guts! She could never compare.
In the darkness, An Jing didn’t see Li Wuyu’s thumbs-up. She merely grabbed Li Wuyu’s hand quickly and wrote on it: "Wait here. I’ll be right back!"
Without waiting for Li Wuyu’s reaction, An Jing was already on the move. Emerging from the shadows, she began to crawl silently toward a corner not far away, where two soldiers were heading to relieve themselves.
When An Jing reached the two soldiers who were about to relieve themselves, she suddenly sprang up from the ground. Seizing one with each hand, she twisted their necks violently.
The two soldiers didn’t even have time to react. Without a sound, they were dead.
Grabbing hold of their bodies, An Jing prevented the two soldiers from falling heavily to the ground and alerting others. She carefully laid their corpses on the ground, then silently dragged them into the shadows.
