CHAPTER 1182: CHAPTER 1178: CATCHING A TURTLE IN A JAR

On the way home, Chen Yang wasn’t thinking about anything.

He just thought about getting home early, washing up, and going to sleep.

Unexpectedly, when the car returned to Liuhua Village, his peripheral vision caught a glimpse of the field in front of the village.

He saw a light flicker across the field, and when Chen Yang looked directly, the light had vanished.

Seeing this, Chen Yang immediately slammed on the brakes and stopped the car.

"Who else would be working in the fields this late at night?"

Although it was just a glimpse, Chen Yang was sure someone was in the field with a flashlight.

His eyesight wouldn’t fail him.

Chen Yang parked on the roadside for a while, and seeing the light in the field not reappear, he grew more suspicious.

Someone in the field at night, the car passing on the road and the light disappearing instantly—couldn’t someone be up to no good?

With this thought, Chen Yang drove home immediately.

Then he pulled out the car key, avoided the village streetlights, and walked to the village entrance to secretly observe.

Sure enough, just a few minutes after arriving at the village entrance,

the light showed again, heading quickly toward the greenhouse.

Previously, Chen Yang just suspected, but now he could be almost certain.

The person in the field must be up to no good.

Avoiding the car at night and heading towards his greenhouse—nothing good could come of this!

Realizing this, Chen Yang quickly ran from the village entrance to the field.

The village lights were bright but couldn’t reach the fields, so the light spot didn’t notice that Chen Yang was already in the field.

Once in the field, Chen Yang moved quickly.

Within a few steps, he approached the light spot.

The light was now near the greenhouse.

Though it was dark, Chen Yang could clearly see the man’s face.

"Isn’t this the guy who blackmailed Dai Annie last time?"

Seeing the man’s face clearly, Chen Yang was quite surprised.

He really didn’t expect it to be this guy at such a late hour.

He initially thought it might be someone from the Gu Family or that envious old man from the vegetable market yesterday trying to steal vegetables.

But he never imagined it would be this guy.

"Guess this guy is holding a grudge and came for revenge!"

Chen Yang guessed inwardly and crouched down, hiding behind the field ridge to avoid being detected by the man.

He did this partly to see what exactly the man was up to, but also to catch him red-handed and send him to jail instead of letting him harm others outside.

Chen Yang crouched silently.

After the man reached the greenhouse, he first looked around to ensure no one was there, then took out a strange metal tool from his waist.

It was too dark, and though Chen Yang had good eyesight, he couldn’t make out what it was.

He did see clearly, however, that the man used the strange metal tool to thud against the greenhouse lock.

After a few hits, he pried. It took two or three more minutes, but then with a clunk, he got the greenhouse door open.

"Haha, you brat, daring to put my mother in jail, today I’ll ruin your livelihood,"

Seeing the door opened, the man laughed triumphantly, tucked the strange metal tool back into his waist, and walked into the greenhouse.

Chen Yang didn’t know what the guy intended to do, but he was sure it was nothing good.

So he got up, planning to go in and stop him.

But just as he stood up, he thought of a better idea.

If he stopped him now, the most the man would face is detention. But if he allowed him to do something and catch him in the act, wouldn’t that lead to a harsher punishment?

With a sly smile, Chen Yang chose not to follow inside but stationed himself at the doorway, waiting for the man to come out.

As he waited, Chen Yang preemptively dialed the police, asking them to come over.

After making the call, Chen Yang stood at the entrance and waited.

After about fifteen minutes, the man finally emerged, panting heavily.

The man panted as if he’d plowed several acres of land.

Yet despite this, his laughter was still evident.

"Heh heh heh heh... you dirty scum, today I ruined your livelihood, let’s see you cry tomorrow. Messed up one, nine more to go. Doesn’t matter if I’m tired tonight!"

The man’s smug voice came from the greenhouse, and then from the doorway, Chen Yang saw a shadowy figure emerge from the greenhouse.

When the man reached the doorway, they bumped right into each other, staring face to face.

Chen Yang was waiting for him, so he wasn’t surprised when their eyes met.

But the man had no mental preparation and believed his actions were flawless, thinking no one knew.

Suddenly meeting Chen Yang’s gaze, he screamed in fright.

"Ah!"

The man was so frightened he sat on the ground with his mouth wide open, his body trembling uncontrollably.

"Are you human or a ghost!" The man backed away frantically, truly as if he’d seen a ghost.

Standing outside, Chen Yang gave a slight smile and said, "Seems like the old saying holds true, do no evil and fear no devils, do evil and even humans will seem like ghosts."

Hearing this, the man immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Good, not a ghost, not a ghost. You scared the life out of me." The man patted his chest repeatedly, calming his racing heart.

But after a couple of pats, he suddenly felt something was off.

The trouble he was causing, wasn’t it scarier to meet a living person than a ghost?

Once again, his back turned cold, and he stared at Chen Yang with terrified eyes, unable to speak a word.

"What were you doing in my greenhouse at this late hour?" Chen Yang asked with a half-smile.

The man was panicked but forced himself to remain calm.

"Nothing, I was just looking around, didn’t do anything," the man swallowed hard and said.

"Did nothing? Are you trying to fool an idiot?" Chen Yang glared at the man before walking into the greenhouse and turning on the light.

Once the light was on, everything in the greenhouse was laid bare.

The whole greenhouse’s wild mountain mushrooms had been deliberately destroyed.

The entire nutrient layer of the greenhouse and the growing wild mountain mushrooms had been turned over, utterly upturned...

Seeing such a scene, Chen Yang couldn’t suppress his anger!

"You really went too far, didn’t you? Uprooting every inch of this big greenhouse," Chen Yang said coldly.

The man wanted to argue, but seeing Chen Yang discover this, he knew he couldn’t escape.

He immediately began to plead for mercy without hesitation.

"Bro... I acted on impulse..."

The man tried to explain and beg.

But would Chen Yang give him a chance? Knowing it was intentional, there was nothing more to say.

"Save that talk for the police," Chen Yang interrupted, giving no chance at all.

Hearing the word "police," the man shivered.

He knew the value of the greenhouse he vandalized.

Damaging such a high-value item maliciously—how many years would he be in jail?

Thinking this, the man grew even more panicked.

He was so afraid he even kneeled right then and there.
