CHAPTER 993: CONCERNS OF A LOVESTRUCK VAMPIRE

Whilst the Emerald Realm fought against the empire to preserve their lives, a certain vampire was simply sitting on the stairs leading to an enormous room flooded with darkness for the most part, this was the main world, and this was within the undead empire, as far away from any current conflict as one could imagine, but still, she was able to bear witness to the unfolding of a fight that would decide the future of the world as a whole, of every bit of dirt, of every beings upon it, of every realm, from the depths of this earth to the unending reaches of what laid beyond the clouds...

One was feeling anxious like never before, it was a good thing that she was dead already, otherwise her heart might have bursted from worry, dressed about as casually as she had ever been, she was using darkness awareness to sense nearly everything within this hidden place.

This here was one of the many facilities in which Loimos had arranged countless things, all sorts of limbs and body parts fashioned from rot, some skeletal, some fleshy, some humanoid, some animalistic... Entire bodies of sorts, materials, environments, items...

Usually, nothing much would be happening in any of those facilities, even when fighting, Loimos would rarely need to fall back upon these installations, this was here were the bulk of the battle arts, conditions and the likes were occurring at the same time, by having countless different bodies, limbs and ressources of all kinds at his disposal here, the pure undead could perform incredibly things in the blink of an eye.

Nearly everything here was made from primeval rot, so everything was him, so by abusing loopholes, he could set conditions and create customised battle arts that could suit his needs in real time, and with the sheer absurd quantity and diversity of things available to him throughout several facilities like this one, he could basically do anything he wanted without even an ounce of delay.

It was basically cheating to have access to this, there were only a handful of incredible beings who could possibly handle Loimos when he was going all-out, beings of such immense might and power that the laws of the world bent and shattered according to their will.

To defend against Loimos exploiting every loophole possible and breaking every way of power, one needed to break the rules themselves.

Unfortunately, it was one of such beings that Loimos was fighting right now, and perhaps the most dangerous of all- Sonnenträger, The First And Only True Hero, wielder of an annihilating gold that was the weakness of everything that opposed it, he was one the likes of which could not be easily described with words.

The only other adversary Loimos had faced that had posed a threat anywhere near as dire was Thanatok Ynigós, but things had been different then, for the pure undead and pure living to clash was only natural, they were two sides of the same coin.

Sonnenträger, on the other hand, was an anomaly, his existence did not depend on anything else, he was just a man who had risen to prominence with what he had had, he could be likened to the leaders of the other continents in a sense, beings of incredible power whose very essence had been replaced by the incredible power they had cultivated, but even amongst them, the golden hero was the only one with the capability to truly defeat Loimos once and for all, if erased by the golden brilliance, there would be no being reformed by The Graveyard.

So of course, One was worried sick, even if many viewed her as simply being blindly stricken with love for the pure undead, she had spent the most time out of anyone by his side, having been the first other intelligent undead to ever make contact with him, so she had a better understanding of who, or rather, what the pure undead truly was.

Loimos had taken on Sonnenträger not because he knew that he would win, but because it was necessary, the golden hero was too dangerous to the undead empire to be left to chance, so the skeleton seized control of the time and place he would manifest at, and instantly pulled him into a fight, making use of the prophet to be taken alongside his opponent to a realm separate from everything else.

And now, the dices were rolling, either Loimos would emerge victorious in the end and all would be fine, allowing the empire to continue expanding as it saw fit, or he would lose, and either something was in stock for Sonnenträger then, or the hero would simply be allowed to wreak havoc.

What worried One the most however, was the fate of Loimos in particular, and the more time passed, the worse it seemed to get.

As she often was, the vampiress had been with him when he started to create those facilities, back then, it had seemed like with them at his disposal, that Loimos would never meet anyone who could possibly be his match, but even then, she had asked what he would do if this wasn’t enough to gain the edge in combat.

His response?

If using all of those extra limbs and alike to manifest and empower attacks to extreme limits was not enough, then he would start to sacrifice them, after all, what could be more effective than abusing every single loophole at the same time, than to knowingly give up on the extreme advantage that abusing those loopholes provided?

Whatever it was that controlled gauged how conditions and such was not unaware of how things could be abused, but it allowed for it, so giving up on it truly was the most exceptional sacrifice one could make.

Limbs made from rot were fading away every second under One’s gaze, there was a massive mound of rot rot in the ceiling who was supposed to replace anything that was lost, but it could not keep up at all with the dire expenditures Loimos was making.

This facility was the largest by far, and still, it was missing more than half of what it had once housed already, there was no telling if the other ones were already emptied utterly.

’What can I do to help him?’ she wondered, rising up where she was sitting, at first, she had been confident, not believing that Loimos could ever lose, but now, things were looking rather grim, if he had not achieved victory by the time everything here was gone, then what could he possibly do?

"Why the long face, One?" asked a voice to her side.

"Maliah? Quick! What do you think we can do to help Loimos?!"

One grabbed the assassin, and shook her by the shoulders, or at least tried to as The Death Dealer did not budge...
