CHAPTER 330: CHAPTER 330 – BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE?

On the road heading to the port city, a horse-drawn carriage raced ahead, kicking up a trail of dust.

Surrounding the carriage were over twenty riders, all scanning the area carefully as if they were expecting an ambush.

"Faster!" Kana urged.

It was as if the horses understood her. They picked up speed instantly, the sound of hooves pounding against the dirt like a sudden, heavy downpour.

"Kana!"

"Someone’s chasing us—they’re headed straight this way! It’s probably them!" Damu suddenly shouted.

"What?!"

Everyone turned around at his warning, eyes filled with worry and unease.

"No need to stare, they’re still a ways behind. Just push a little harder!" Damu yelled again, his tone filled with urgency.

His Observation Haki was a bit special—it could reach far distances. Right now, he was using it to track the enemies closing in on them.

Inside the carriage, Liv and Angela looked visibly anxious.

Out of everyone, the two of them were the weakest. If CP0 caught up now, the outcome was pretty clear...

"Damn it!"

Sera muttered angrily, her eyes burning with frustration.

Everyone’s expressions turned grim as the weight of the situation set in.

They knew that if the enemy caught up, it could lead to a brutal fight—or worse.

Right now, the only thing they could do was move faster and buy more time.

"Faster!"

Kana shouted again, sounding even more tense.

The horses seemed to feel the riders’ urgency. They ran full speed ahead, hooves pounding fiercely as they charged down the road.

Under the pressure of the moment, the group pushed on desperately, hoping to reach the port city before the enemy could catch up.

"There are people ahead too!"

"And a lot of them—at least over a hundred!" Damu suddenly shouted again.

"This is bad!"

"Kana, what do we do?!" Serra looked frustrated.

"Charge! Compared to a hundred soldiers, CP0 is way more dangerous!" Kana said in a deep voice.

"Got it!"

"Understood!" everyone replied.

Their faces quickly turned serious as they all drew their weapons, ready for the battle that was coming.

A few minutes later.

"Everyone get ready!" Kana shouted.

Right after she gave the order, a cloud of dust rose in the distance. They could vaguely see a group of fully armed soldiers marching in a neat formation toward them.

Their steps were steady and strong, and the armor they wore gave off a cold shine—clearly a group of well-trained elites.

As they got closer, everyone could see that the man in front was a middle-aged guy with a beard, wearing white armor, and had several scary scars across his face.

He looked serious and sharp, giving off a strong and intimidating presence.

And the rest of the soldiers were just as impressive.

This unit also seemed to be heading toward the capital, and they looked like they had a clear goal and were moving fast.

But strangely, they just walked past without stopping or saying anything.

Everyone quietly let out a breath of relief.

Kana frowned, clearly puzzled and surprised. "Who are these people? Their armor doesn’t match the kingdom’s army. Why are they going to the capital? Did something happen?"

Just then—

The bearded man in the lead suddenly stopped and shouted, "Stop!"

Kana and the others immediately tensed up, gripping their weapons and preparing to fight.

The whole unit came to a halt.

The man pulled on the reins, turned around slightly, squinted at Kana and the others, and asked in a strict tone, "Who are you people? What are you doing here?"

"That has nothing to do with you," Kana replied firmly.

At that moment, Angela and Liv peeked out from the carriage, curious about why there was another army in the kingdom.

As soon as the soldier leading the group saw Angela, he froze.

He quickly pulled out a poster from his coat, glanced at it, and then locked his eyes on Angela. His face turned red with excitement.

"You... are you Princess Angela?"

As soon as he said that, everyone around Kana looked surprised.

After Angela showed herself, it was clear this man no longer had any hostility toward them.

"Yes, I am. But may I ask who you are?" Angela asked with a puzzled look.

She wasn’t too surprised he had a poster with her photo.

After all, earlier that morning, following Kana’s advice, she had posters sent out across the country announcing that she would become the new monarch in two days.

"It really is you, Princess!"

"I’m Witt, former commander of the kingdom’s army. When I heard this morning that you were returning to take the throne, I immediately gathered my old troops and headed for the capital..."

"What!!"

"You’re Uncle Witt?!" Angela couldn’t help but interrupt him, her face full of shock.

She had heard about him from her father.

It was thanks to Commander Witt’s protection that her parents were able to escape the Kingdom of Magiatsuka and eventually find shelter with the revolutionaries.

In other words, Witt had been fiercely loyal to the Garfield royal family.

"That’s me!"

"Princess, I can’t believe the Garfield family has finally come back. All my efforts back then weren’t for nothing!" Witt was overwhelmed with emotion. As he looked at Angela, tears shimmered in his eyes—like he was seeing hope and a future again.

Angela felt deeply moved. She knew just how much this old man had sacrificed to protect her family.

Now, seeing him again made her feel an unexpected warmth.

"Thank you, Uncle Witt," Angela said. "If it weren’t for you, my parents would’ve never escaped from the Kingdom of Magiatsuka, and I wouldn’t even be alive."

"Your Highness, you give me too much credit. I was only doing my duty," Witt replied. "But I’m truly grateful I got to see someone from the Garfield royal family again and continue serving you."

"Angela, this isn’t the time for this! Those CP0 agents are catching up—we have to leave now!" Darm couldn’t hold back anymore and urged anxiously.

"What?"

"CP0 again?!" Witt’s face turned cold the moment he heard the name, and his eyes filled with rage and hatred.

Even the soldiers behind him all looked shocked and furious.
