Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You
Chapter 188: The Same Emergency Contact, Julian Lawson
CHAPTER 188: CHAPTER 188: THE SAME EMERGENCY CONTACT, JULIAN LAWSON
Vera Hansen felt that going to meet Yan again was just a formality, she didn’t even need to find Yan anymore.
Now she has included Yan’s name, even if Ford Entertainment and Yan make a fuss, she’d just say the young artist wanted to cause a scene.
And she could also take the opportunity to step over Serena Sterling.
She could claim this was a vicious plan concocted by Serena Sterling and Jasper Ford.
If she got paid, staying silent was best, if not, she’s not afraid of a lawsuit years down the line.
After all, by then she’d already be Mrs. Lawson.
Vera increasingly felt her plan was simply perfect.
Everything was under control!
Hospital, after Serena Sterling finished working, she went to confirm the copyright registration of her song once again.
Serena still felt a bit confused.
She didn’t know what Vera was thinking.
Clearly, a lawsuit would be an easy win.
Though it’s not a large-scale infringement, and Vera could hire excellent lawyers to limit the consequences of losing to ceasing infringement, paying fines, and apologizing.
But Vera would be ruined.
Could it be that Vera really feels she’s going to die soon and wants to win at all costs and hold a wedding with Julian Lawson?
Playing a time difference?
Serena still felt very puzzled.
Yet she felt Vera’s plan was wrong.
...
On the other side.
After failing to persuade Vera, Julian Lawson felt very annoyed and drove back himself.
At this moment, he’s driving past the former psychiatric treatment center.
He suddenly remembered bringing Vera to see the doctor before, and the doctor said they’d send documents to his apartment later.
But he hadn’t received them when he left home this morning.
Wondering if there was some issue.
Thinking this, he parked the car.
Walking all the way into the treatment center, he wanted to find the psychiatrist from that day to ask about the situation, only to learn the doctor was off duty today.
So he stated his issue.
"Sending documents is usually handled by the archive department, you can go there to inquire," the receptionist said.
Julian nodded and then left.
He didn’t hear the gossip between the receptionist and some other people after he left.
"Isn’t that person in the archive department now?"
"Surely, he always made mistakes before when doing things, his supervisor had a big row with the higher-ups and transferred him to the archive department, and now he’s making mistakes even there, unbelievable."
"Hopefully, the person just now manages to get things done."
While they were discussing, Shayla Randall came over, overheard them, and asked, "What are you talking about?"
The receptionist immediately replied, "Shayla, let me tell you..."
By this time, Julian had already arrived at the archive department.
Soon, he saw a careless young man lounging on a chair to the side.
Julian frowned slightly.
He walked over and said, "Hello, I’m here to check on a mailed document."
The man finally raised his head, looking not quite awake, rubbed his eyes, and asked, "What?"
"There’s a document I haven’t received, I want to check on it," Julian said.
"Oh." The man rubbed his head, then put on his glasses, logged into the courier tracking interface, and asked, "What’s the name?"
"Vera Hansen." Julian said, instinctively thinking he was asked the patient’s name.
As the man was inputting the recipient’s name, Shayla Randall walked in.
"What’s going on?" Shayla asked.
The young man quickly stood up and said, "The patient’s family wants to check the mailing status of a document."
Actually, Shayla had already heard about the mailing issue at the reception.
She recalled overhearing Vera’s private talk with the doctor when the door wasn’t closed properly that day.
Details weren’t clear, but it seemed she had changed the recipient’s address.
Apparently, Julian didn’t know this now.
"Alright," Shayla said, "Look into how it happened."
"Okay, Dr. Randall." The young man immediately started investigating, looked it up, then told Julian, "It’s been sent already."
"But I haven’t received it," Julian frowned.
"Check the delivery address on the tracking number," Shayla advised.
"Alright!" The young man checked.
Then reported a location, ending with — "Vivian’s Floral Studio, Vera Hansen."
"Should be correct, no problem," the young man looked at Julian.
Julian had been observing the doctor standing nearby, feeling the doctor’s behavior was odd.
When the archive department man reported the location name, Julian’s thoughts shifted.
Did he remember wrong?
Didn’t he provide his own home address that day?
Why did it get sent to Vera’s place?
"Sir, is there a problem?" The young man beside him asked.
Julian shook his head.
"Could you print me another copy right now," Julian said, directly picking it up here to avoid mailing.
"Sure, but I’ll need to confirm your personal information and authorization first," the archive department man said.
Julian nodded, taking out his identification card.
The archive department man was about to input the name into the emergency contacts when Shayla immediately said, "Check the patient’s form for a quicker option, it’s nearby, the emergency contact, see if there’s any note on the patient’s authorization, if the other party received the package, there should be an authorization."
The young man nodded, first opening Vera’s medical record, confirming the information, then checking the authorization.
Then handed Julian back his identification card and said, "Please wait a moment, I’ll print it for you."
"Alright." Julian put away his ID.
Shayla secretly sighed in relief.
She had to quickly get Serena’s authorization to change the emergency contact.
They had always overlooked this.
Serena’s emergency contact was always listed as Julian.
Initially, this wasn’t a significant issue, Serena was slowly improving and hadn’t reached the point of needing to contact emergency personnel, so it wasn’t prioritized.
Just now she overheard the receptionist chatting, and alarm bells went off in her mind.
The archive department person was reckless, who knew what kind of trouble he might cause.
Previously, even as a receptionist, he got things wrong.
If directly checking the courier under Julian’s name and mistakenly pulling Serena’s record, what then?
Patient privacy is extremely important.
Based on her understanding of Serena, Serena wouldn’t want Julian to know she had visited psychiatry.
Then it would be a major mistake by the hospital.
Luckily she’d been watching closely.
Otherwise, they’d be in big trouble.
The document was printed, and the archive department personnel packed it into a file bag and handed it to Julian.
"Thanks a lot." Julian said, then thought about it and asked the person to help change the address back to his apartment.
Shayla continued watching quietly.
She didn’t speak.
Since she wasn’t facing the computer interface, she didn’t count as seeing the patient’s privacy.
After everything was settled, Julian took the document and went out.
Shayla picked up some things in the archive room, then came out, pretending she had just happened to come for these items and not for any other purpose.
But no sooner had she exited than she ran into Julian.
"Care to talk?" Julian asked.
